U. Central Florida Prof Under Investigation and Police Protection for Tweets About ‘Black Privilege’

“Black privilege is real: Besides affirm. action, special scholarships and other set asides, being shielded from legitimate criticism is a privilege.”

Professor Charles Negy teaches psychology at the University of Central Florida. He recently made some points about the current narrative of “systemic racism” on Twitter and it has exploded into a storm of outrage.

He is now being investigated by the school and is living under police protection.

Professor Jonathan Turley writes at his blog:

UCF Professor Under Investigation And Police Protection After Tweeting About “Black Privilege”

We have been writing about efforts to fire professors who have criticized the “Defund the Police” campaign or Black Lives Matter. Now, Charles Negy, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Central Florida, is under school investigation and has received police protection after he tweeted about what he views as “black privilege.” While countless professors have written about “white privilege,” Negy is looking at discipline or termination while police have been called to his house to protect his life.

Turley details what Negy said in now-deleted tweets:

Negy’s work is highly controversial and his tweets have inflamed critics. In a now deleted tweet, he wrote “Black privilege is real: Besides affirm. action, special scholarships and other set asides, being shielded from legitimate criticism is a privilege. But as a group, they’re missing out on much needed feedback.”

He has also written, again on Twitter, “If Afr. Americans as a group, had the same behavioral profile as Asian Americans (on average, performing the best academically, having the highest income, committing the lowest crime, etc.), would we still be proclaiming ‘systematic racism’ exists?”

Here’s an excerpt of the petition demanding his removal:

UCF: Fire Psychology Professor Charles Negy

We are calling on the University of Central Florida to dismiss psychology professor Charles Negy due to abhorrent racist comments he has made and continues to make on his personal Twitter account. In addition to racism, Negy has engaged in perverse transphobia and sexism on his account, which is just as reprehensible. While he has a right to free speech, he does not have a right to dehumanize students of color and other minority groups, which is a regular occurance in his classroom. By allowing him to continue in his position, UCF would simply be empowering another cog in the machine of systemic racism.

UCF is a diverse, welcoming campus of 60,000 students from all across the country and the world. Our diversity is our strength, and we should have faculty who understand and promote that – not the opposite. College is a place to learn and be exposed to new ideas, but for so many Black students, racism is not just an idea, but something they have experienced for their entire life, and the same goes for the LGBT community with trans and homophobia. They deserve better, and so does the entire campus community.

The petition has over 30,000 signatures.

Professor Negy recently spoke with conservative talk host Larry Elder. You can listen below:

I have serious doubts that 30,000 signatures (out of a campus of 60,000 students) are legitimate. UCF is a ‘commuter’ University where at least 50,000 live off campus; I don’t see how it could occur logistically and be real, not in this town.

    But but but…..

    Black Leftists Murder…….

Tulsa Mayor Declares a “Civil Emergency” – Orders Immediate Shut Down Curfew Around Trump Rally Venue… (actually the entire convention area and forces attendees who have been lined up for a week to vacate – Tulsa is officially renamed Shit City)

….one would think if this were not a politically motivated decision, the prudent approach would be to place police in the area as a security precaution. After all, the maintenance of a curfew perimeter will require a significant police presence to ensure compliance. So regardless of whether there are people peacefully assembled to attend the rally, a significant police presence is required by the order itself.

The Tulsa mayor just decided to start a curfew so Trump supporters can’t wait in line for the Trump rally.

And, among all those students, how many are there to attend classes, graduate, and go on with life?

The petition is on… the people signing it could be in Moscow or Beijing

Actually, this is not even a survey — it’s a petition that anyone can sign. I bet the overwhelming majority of people who signed it (online) are non-students who are leftists. These lefties are comparing the number of signatures (30,000) to the number of UCF students (60,000), and saying that 50% of the students have signed the petition. those are two completely different populations.

This petition is completely irrelevant and meaningless. This kind of logic would get you kicked out of any science or math class. But you would probably earn an A in Gender Studies.

      What if someone wrote/signed a counter-petition?

(I meant to reply and accidentally downvoted your post, and it won’t let me undo the vote, even when I upvote it. I apologize.)

It’s time to start defunding these schools, and remove the federal loan guarantees. A school that can’t get students to repay their loans by giving value doesn’t deserve to exist.

I think that these self righteous SOBs deserve to be prosecuted for civil rights violations, numerous torts and a number of criminal causes for action. This needs to happen with all the cases, past and present.

The first cases should be regarding George Zimmerman, professor Charles Negy and professor William A. Jacobson.

And affirmative action isn’t discrimination based on race?

Tell a truth. Get clobbered.

So even if “The first casualty when war comes is truth” is true, telling the truth is essential.

Affirmative action needs to be killed. Everyone should be judged based on merit, stop promoting meritless people.

Back in 1964 or so when AA was started, I remember a few people asked how long this would have to go on. Just a few years, they were told, absolutely no more than 15 years under any circumstances.

In 2014 we “celebrated” 50 years of affirmative action and I tried to get the libs excited about it, but they were strangely silent!

Soros, schmoros —

I hope everyone knows where to squarely put the blame for this cancer: barack obama.

Does everyone realize what a sinister and evil character obama has proven to be?

He, jarrett, pelosi etc spend eight year straight engineering the cancer erupting today, from “Julia” (most of the rioters) to “Pajama Boy” (most of the rioters).

Like hitler personified the nazi atrocities, obama personifies the swamp/left/islamic atrocities underway in the United States, if not the world.

And this is FAR from over: it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets any better. That’s civil wars for you.

Obama: remember the name, and tag it to every looter, rioter or fascist calling for your head.

He said he was going to “fundamentally transform” the greatest country on the face of the earth. And far too few stopped to question what he meant by that.

Fight back.
Buy his book:

Every time the mob tries to cancel someone, we should overwhelm them with this kind of feedback.

The Chick-fil-a effect, if you will.

We’re all for diversity unless it conflicts with our point of view.

The only source of human dignity is being called to do something for somebody else. That felt call is what makes you for the first time unique and irreplaceable.

What works for an individual also work by race. The only route for black dignity as a race is to do something for somebody else. The day that poor blacks take up a collection for poor whites is the day they’ll discover dignity. Whites aren’t withholding dignity from blacks: blacks are withholding dignity from themselves.

It’s not hard to discover this if your black “leaders” aren’t keen on pumping up resentment instead.

Related: good character is the key to success in America. Nobody teaches it any longer.

It makes it hard also to tell who your real friends are.

Sadly, many good people with real platforms will need to sacrifice themselves before other good people become woke and the tide changes.

Anonymous mobs taking out those that take a stand rather than a knee is the present mode of intimidation. This is getting down to the basic point of which side do the wobbly kneed appeasers fear the most? Dictatorships and Islam have shown how to “win” the hearts and minds of people… through terror and actions rather than just justified arguments or even threats.

Every person wronged by this should make payback an even bigger b…

And before Black Privilege, it was White Privilege, and Asian Privilege, too, and throughout, it was Jew Privilege. Progress with precedent.

    notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to n.n. | June 19, 2020 at 3:26 pm

Shouldn’t we be talking about only one thing connected to that?

    Elitist privilege!

Most of us have to earn privilege. The same goes for respect, look at these clowns who think that they deserve respect, and they are willing to assault or even kill if they do not receive unearned respect. Their mindset is incredible.

    artichoke in reply to n.n. | June 20, 2020 at 11:21 pm

It’s been protected-class privilege for decades. And whites, Asians and Jews don’t qualify.

I’ve always said that you get in a helluva lot more trouble for telling the truth than you ever could for telling a lie.

Stating the obvious is now abhorrently racist? Even George Orwell couldn’t believe this

For an organization to be systemicly racist it would have to be codified in its laws, regulations, computer programs, etc. If there is no code to remove. Then there is no systemic issues. There is codified discrimination that works mostly against white males. This is not an opinion but a fact. So now opinions are facts and facts are opinions?

In the early 70’s when I went to college in Illinois, every year I watched as scores of black kids arrived with full ride scholarships. With great frequency, they partied hard, ignored classes, refused to turn in homework/projects, and even on occasion did not attend class when tests were given. What was so remarkable was that as they were being thrown out of school, they would all make the same claim about how unfair it all was because their professors did not understand them, and how the system was racist. Those black kids who did work hard were often derided by the other black kids as being foolish or Uncle Toms.
I have long since given up on listening to this white privilege tripe.

And they always passed and received a degree. Then I would end up screening them for potential employment. Far too often they were shallow, ignorant, not at all suitable.

And once you hired one, only to find out that they were lazy, entitled and arrogant, it was a long, painful, expensive process getting rid of a deadbeat.

In this year of Two-Thousand-Twenty, a twelve month period that has thus far revealed itself to be one of terrible strife and uncertainty, the world needs a new, modern mantra; a mantra which all the masses will accept and support. As there seems to be no agreement in sight over “Black Lives Matter,” I have taken it upon myself to devise a slogan expressing a more universal truth: “All People Suck!” I’m sure we can all get behind this one. Shout it from the hilltops!
