FBI to Review Charges Dropped Against Jussie Smollett Hate Crime Hoax

The Jussie Smollett case stinks to high heaven. So much so that when charges were dropped, even Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and Chicago’s police chief held a press conference lambasting the decision. More on that here.
Thursday morning, Trump tweeted the FBI and DOJ are going to review the case:

President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday that the FBI and Department of Justice will review the “outrageous” case of actor Jussie Smollett in Chicago, calling it an “embarrassment” to the country.
Prosecutors infuriated Chicago’s police chief and mayor this week when they abruptly dropped 16 felony counts against the “Empire” actor that were related to making a false police report. Prosecutors offered little explanation and sealed the case — yet still insisted the actor faked a racist, anti-gay attack on himself in January.
Prosecutors offered no additional information during a court hearing Thursday with media attorneys who argued that the public had a right to know what happened. Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted: “FBI & DOJ to review the outrageous Jussie Smollett case in Chicago. It is an embarrassment to our Nation!”
Police said investigators believe Smollett, who is black and gay, hired two brothers to stage the early-morning Jan. 29 attack in downtown Chicago, and that Smollett hoped it would gain attention and help advance his career. Police also allege that before the attack, Smollett sent a letter threatening himself to the Chicago television studio where “Empire” is shot.
The FBI, which is investigating that letter, has declined to comment.
An embarrassment to our nation, indeed.

It will be interesting to see how the story changes when they are interviewed by the FBI or testify to a federal grand jury. Note to “involved people” don’t destroy records and communications.

Chicago’s late mayor Richard Daley is likely spinning in his grave asking, “How can anyone be as dumb as Kim Foxx?” I doubt Ms. Foxx will survive this. If she doesn’t resign, the Democratic Party will replace her next election. She is simply too great a liability and too much happens in Chicago that needs to be covered up.
Daley would also be asking “How can Kamala Harris be so stupid?”

This has Obama written all over it: Get Foxx to “make the felonies go away” without even talking with the locals to negotiate a peaceful end. Obama the bully on display. Rahm must defend his power so he will fight back against the bully. Rahm also has a very powerful PD as a tool here. Rahm left the Obama administration so I suspect there is no love to be lost between them.
This is a turf war between two organized criminals. Rahm will kick Obama’s ass right off the planet. Stupid move by Obama. Stupid move by Foxx. Rahm is showing Obama how they do things “downtown.”

To Jussie and the others involved in this case. Contrary to popular belief, you WILL get into a lot of trouble if you lie to the FBI. I know if you ask HRC or one of her cronies, you may think you can get away with it. Even if you mis-remember or make an honest mistake (Ask LTG Flynn), fines and jail time await you if you lie.
The Smollett case was about social justice, not justice.

Any charges should be accompanied with a diversity (i.e. color judgment including racism, etc.) enhancement.

This a result of the black lives matter movement and other black crime cases where they have not only been given the benefit of the doubt but praised for their actions. If this idiot and his moronic lawyer had one ounce of intelligence they would have sneaked away during the night to never have been heard from again. Instead, he is trumpeting his innocence and she is threatening to sue the CPD! Talk about a tin ear! This a slap in the face not only to the CPD but all the people of Chicago and the country. hillary got away with this sort of thing for so long that it became one of the driving forces in the election of Trump. We, the little people, are sick of the double standard.
I can see the FBI investigating what strings were pulled here, at least to the extent of who was in on the fix, and why prosecutors were willing to go along with it.
BUT I can’t see the FBI investigating Smollett, as (1) CPD appears to have already done a thorough investigation, and (2) it’s not clear that Smollett committed a federal crime. And, really, the FBI should not be investigating citizens unless it has reason to believe the citizen committed one.
There is the federal crime of sending fake anthrax through the US Postal Service.

Why should I believe an investigation by an FBI/DoJ that’s as compromised as it is by progressives? They’ll rubber stamp an obviously racial dismissal of charges so long as the right race of person benefited. The real question is why Trump does.
