I’m taking nothing for granted on the Kavanaugh confirmation vote Saturday, October 6, 2018. Voting time is in flux, could be as early as 3 p.m. Eastern or as late as 5 p.m. We will have live coverage.
While it appears Kavanaugh will be confirmed now that Flake, Collins and Manchin are Yes votes, it’s ain’t over until it’s over. Will they still be Yes tomorrow afternoon?
If we have learned anything, it’s that the lunatics of #TheResistance are capable of the worst. So I’m not celebrating until the gavel hammers down tomorrow.
BUT, I am preparing.
How many of you remember our fireworks and music? I think the first time we used it was in June 2012, when Scott Walker won the Wisconsin Recall election. I wrote that it was Oh what a night:

Wait, what? How does it work?
We had custom-built an overlay of the website that, well, appears to shoot fireworks while music is playing. Imagine July 4 with the Boston Pops.
It requires that Flash be enabled, so it you have it disabled you’ll receive a prompt to enable it if you want to view the show (you don’t have to if you don’t want). We only run it for about 10 minutes, because last time it prevented some people from commenting.
A screenshot doesn’t do it justice, because you can’t see the movement of the fireworks, but here’s what it looked like when Walker won:
We used it again, and I think for the last time, in 2014 when Republicans took over the Senate:
Some readers in 2012 were not satisfied with fireworks, and wanted us to go nuclear:
Do we have nuclear capabilities? Like the Israelis, I’m not saying we do, and I’m not saying we don’t.
So tomorrow is the Kavanaugh confirmation.
I’m not over-confident, but I am prepared to launch the fireworks and music if he is confirmed. And also … the Victory Dance!
