Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) announced on Monday that his office received new text messages between former FBI agent Peter Strozk and his mistress Lisa Page that shows “an apparent systemic culture of media leaking by high-ranking officials at FBI and DOJ related to ongoing investigations.”
New texts released by Meadows on Tuesday cemented his theory.
In other words, the two agencies teamed up to release harmful information to the media about President Donald Trump last year right before Special Counsel Robert Mueller began his Russia-Trump probe.

Meadows sent one letter to Rosenstein on Monday, in which he dictated that “senior officials at FBI/DOJ selectively leaked info to the media about ongoing investigations to the Trump admin.”
Meadows’ office reviewed one text from Strzok to Page on April 10, 2017:
Strzok’s lawyer claims that the “media leak strategy” in that text is about an initiative in the DOJ to stop media leaks. He took a swipe at Trump and his supporters, stating that they “are once again peddling unfounded conspiracy theories to mislead the American people.”
Explain this then because texts from Strzok to Page a few days letter let her know that TWO articles would come out about her “namesake” Carter Page, a man connected to Trump’s campaign and the FBI put surveillance on him after the agency received a FISA warrant:
That story from the Washington Post stated that the information came from officials “on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details of a counterintelligence probe.”
Strzok lost his job at the FBI in August due to the anti-Trump texts he sent to Page.
In January, Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) went on a radio show and read some of the text messages between Strzok and Page, including one where Strzok wrote, “you and I both know the odds are nothing. If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question. I hesitate in part because of my gut sense and concern there’s no big there there.”
At the time, Strzok and Page discussed joining the Mueller investigation. Page pushed Strzok to not join, but both eventually jumped into the ship. However, Mueller let go of Strzok due to the texts and affair with Page, who left the investigation last summer to rejoin the FBI.
