As Americans discuss and debate the possible creation of a US Space Force, those who follow Twitter were treated to a novel perspective on the proposal by famed astrophysicist and author, Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson.While he might accept the formation of the 6th branch of the US military, Tyson offered an idea for an entirely different type of government entity.
The quip is very disturbing, especially for a scientist who should know that one era’s truth can quickly become another one’s heresy.
Furthermore, the social media giants’ current tactic of squelching of free speech in the name of “truth” is silencing non-progressive voices that are needed to create an environment where assertions are challenged, hypotheses are tested, and theories are formulated based on real data, not on what “reality” should be based on the science du jour. One has to wonder if Tyson’s “Truth Force” is already operational.
This has not been Tyson’s first bite at the poisoned fruit of “truth” control, either.
But more broadly, the notion that the government should be tasked with defining and enforcing truth cuts broadly against the notion of a free republic. That’s nothing new from deGrasse Tyson, who yearns to control everyone’s thought process from above.

Finally, “proven” science has been “disproven” so often that the word “proven” should probably be removed from serious scientific discussion. A few years ago, too many eggs, too much fat, and too much salt was a danger to life and health. Recent research has shown that most of the food science “truths” were dangerous falsehoods.
Data supporting how awful this idea includes the tweet from PolitiFact (famed for wanting to hire progressive flamethrower Alan Grayson to improve its credibility), which indicated that it could act as the “Truth Force”.

However, I would like to give some props to Tyson, who did not dismiss the Space Force proposal out-of-hand. In a recent interview, he indicated that it was not a fundamentally flawed idea if the US Air Force, which currently manages all the US GPS and space capabilities, is overwhelmed with the ever-increasing demands of space defense and operational support.
