Counterrevolution: Liberal media turning on Bernie Sanders

The liberal MSM is quickly losing patience with the Bernie Sanders campaign for reasons which are fairly obvious.

First, Bernie is starting to affect Hillary Clinton’s ability to pivot to the general election, a problem that’s already hurting her in polls.

Second, rather than getting in line behind Hillary, his supporters are becoming increasingly aggressive as we saw in the mayhem of the recent Nevada Democratic Convention. Liberals in media had no problem with Bernie Sanders supporters disrupting Trump events, but now that it’s affecting Hillary it’s a big problem.

The New York Times worries that Bernie is “willing to harm Hillary” and they can’t have that:

Bernie Sanders, Eyeing Convention, Willing to Harm Hillary Clinton in the HomestretchDefiant and determined to transform the Democratic Party, Senator Bernie Sanders is opening a two-month phase of his presidential campaign aimed at inflicting a heavy blow on Hillary Clinton in California and amassing enough leverage to advance his agenda at the convention in July — or even wrest the nomination from her.Advisers to Mr. Sanders said on Wednesday that he was newly resolved to remain in the race, seeing an aggressive campaign as his only chance to pressure Democrats into making fundamental changes to how presidential primaries and debates are held in the future. They said he also held out hope of capitalizing on any late stumbles by Mrs. Clinton or any damage to her candidacy, whether by scandal or by the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump…Tad Devine, a senior adviser to Mr. Sanders, said the campaign did not think its attacks would help Mr. Trump in the long run, but added that the senator’s team was “not thinking about” the possibility that they could help derail Mrs. Clinton from becoming the first woman elected president.

A progressive blog called Cannonfire is now calling Bernie Sanders filth.

Even Josh Marshall of the liberal Talking Points Memo blog, who has been sympathetic to Sanders in the past, has changed his tune:

Sanders Camp Flirts with Going Full “Burn It Down”It is painfully conspicuous how little the Sanders camp is now pressing its issue agenda as its chances of winning the nomination have diminished. On the contrary, it’s debates and a ‘rigged’ primary process, points that are either trivial and nonsensical or hypocritical inasmuch as the ‘rigged’ parts of the process are the ones the Sanders’ campaign has used most effectively. The process reforms Sanders is now marching to the convention for seem like little more than attempts to prosecute and vindicate his overarching claim that the primary process in which he lost was illegitimate. In other words, his justification for continuing is mostly a feedback loop of his refusal to accept that he came close but ultimately lost.

Niall Stanage of The Hill provides more evidence of the change:

Liberal media turns on SandersBernie Sanders is suddenly facing a barrage of criticism from liberal commentators. As the fallout from last weekend’s Nevada Democratic convention spreads, sharply critical pieces about the White House hopeful and his campaign have appeared in progressive outlets such as Mother Jones, Talking Points Memo and Daily Kos within the past 48 hours. The Sanders campaign has also taken hits from progressive CNN contributor Sally Kohn, who endorsed the Vermont senator from the stage at a massive rally in New York City just before the Empire State’s April primary. Kohn wrote an article published Wednesday for Time magazine that was headlined, “I felt the Bern but the Bros are extinguishing the flames.”The fact that the criticism is coming from left-leaning sources makes it more difficult for Sanders supporters to rebut it. Meanwhile, Democrats outside Sanders’s orbit argue the jabs show that even influential writers on the left — who tend to take more progressive positions than Democratic leaders in Washington — are concluding that the senator is hurting the party.

Justin Duckham of the FOX News Bias Bash recently addressed these developments and noted that the media wasn’t nearly as concerned when John Kasich and Ted Cruz were presenting a similar problem for Donald Trump:

This entire scenario is fueled by panic over the one person the Democratic Party believes has the best chance to win in November and now that Sanders is seen as a threat, he has to go.

Michael Walsh of PJ Media sums it up nicely:

Media to Bernie Sanders: Enough Already! It wasn’t supposed to be this way: Hillary Clinton, the Dowager Empress of Chappaqua, was supposed to have only sham opposition (let’s see… how about a wild-haired “socialist” from one of the whitest states in the Union; now there’s a sure loser!) in her stately waddle to the Democrat nomination for president this year. After all, she was unfairly beaten by an upstart nobody last time out, complied an impressive body count during her resume-enhancing stint at State, and therefore she was now owed. But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum: Sanders keeps beating her in state after state. His supporters have an energy sadly lacking among the geriatric Baby Boomers who support Clinton, mostly because “she’s a woman.”

This is probably going to get worse before it gets better and if Sanders continues promising to take his fight all the way to the convention, expect criticism from Democrats to become even more fierce.
