LIVE RESULTS: Indiana Primary — Trump Wins // So Does Bernie

Hoosiers decide

Indiana votes today. The finally tallies could make or break Senator Cruz’s 2016 White House aspirations. Prior to Hoosiers heading to the ballot box, Trump was ahead in the polls.

The Republican delegate situation:

Immediately after winning the primary, Trump tweeted:

(WAJ adds) Bernie Sanders also pulled out a somewhat surprising victory:

———————————

Indiana is a winner-take-all state. Sort of. A total of 57 delegates are up for grabs.

In the Republican race, though, the winner-take-all rule will have a big impact. It’s not as simple as Delaware or other states with one congressional district. The 57 GOP delegates are split up by congressional district. That means Trump — or Cruz — will have to perform well across the state for a clean sweep. In total 27 delegates are split by congressional district — each gets three. Then there are 27 that go to the winner of the state-wide vote, with the remaining three counted as “RNC delegates.” Trump is currently ahead by about six points in the polls, but John Kasich supporters may end up voting for Cruz as a part of their alliance to thwart Trump.

On the Democratic side:

83 delegates to be won there:

The Democrats, like always, award their delegates proportionally. For that party, here are 83 pledged delegates up for grabs in Indiana. Like many states, they award some of their delegates by congressional district; 56 will be allocated this way. The remaining 27 are split based on the statewide vote. There’s a 15 percent threshold at both the district and statewide level — something that shouldn’t affect either Clinton or Sanders. They’re only four percentage points away from each other. Clinton is slightly ahead.

Exit polling shows Cruz getting his ass whooped. Fast with me and pray for divine intervention!

Nah — I’m going to go with Professor Jacobson and Ragspierre. The numbers can’t be true.

JasonJay in reply to Vince. | May 3, 2016 at 7:30 pm

You just got divine inspiration: God to Cruz: Go away!

Very early returns have Trump at 56%.

Exit polling has Indiana looking like Pennsylvania.

It’s over. Please Ted, drop out and endorse Trump. You are looking more the fool every week this goes on.

Ok time for the usual Primary day question.
When will Cruz be giving his victory speach?

If this in fact winds up being around a 55% Trump to 35% Cruz win, Cruz should drop out. This wasn’t his year. There is no point in him continuing further.

If this in fact winds up being around a 55% Trump to 35% Cruz win, the party needs to unify around Trump as its nominee. Dislike the Donald as much as you want, he is still a far cry better than Hillary.

If this in fact winds up being around a 55% Trump to 35% Cruz win, Trump will be tempted to pivot to the left. But he needs to remember he ran as a conservative, and to keep the promises he made to get selected as the nominee of the Republican party.

Glenn Beck has been put on suicide watch.

Also has anyone noticed every time Beck and Cruz go on a fast they GAIN weight?

Has Cruz given the date and time yet when America slides into the abyss.

wise werds indeed

Karl Rove is on antidepressants. Cruz ahead in only 2 congressional districts so far.

practicalconservative in reply to Gary Britt. | May 3, 2016 at 6:58 pm

Nah. Remember 2010 and what Rove did to Christine O’Donnell when she ran for the Senate from Delaware. Rove may have cost the Republicans a seat but he did not care. Expect Rove to go after Trump.

Expect Trump to hit back harder than O’Donnell.

When it comes to the presidency, the GOP is like a patient with a fatal disease. The traditional Reagan conservative medicine prescribed by Cruz has stopped working. If the GOP keeps taking it, it will die.

Trump is like an experimental drug. Maybe it will kill the patient outright, or maybe it will save his life. But it’s the only hope the patient has left.

All networks call Indiana for Trump in 3, 2, 1

Ragspierre | May 3, 2016 at 7:02 pm

Cruz is in this now to the convention.

He WILL…and damn well SHOULD…challenge the credentials of every stinking T-rump delegate.

FOXNEWS projects Trump wins Indiana primary

The only question left about tonight will be will Trump get more than 50 of the 57 delegates.

Will big mo from tonight cause polls in Nebraska and Montana to flip to Trump?

Are all the polls in Indiana closed already? Indiana has two time zones.

Reports are that Glenn Beck and Cruz are traveling to an undisclosed desert location to consult with occupants of a UFO sent by Joseph Smith.

Ragspierre in reply to Gary Britt. | May 3, 2016 at 7:32 pm

There’s that Bierhall Bullyboi Bigot Britt. Can’t repress that ol’ religious bigotry…and stupid…can you, lying SOS?

Trump can get the nomination but after his absolutely over the top assertion that Cruz’s father was involved with Oswald, I’m officially now #NeverTrump.

I can excuse and overlook a lot… but that’s a bridge too freaking far for me.

I want to see reporters ask Cruz and Beck if they have considered the possibility that god wants Trump to win?

Or maybe they should ask if Indiana results mean god like almost all the senate just doesn’t like Cruz.

Trump to Cruz:

HOSIER DADDY ?

Ragspierre in reply to Gary Britt. | May 3, 2016 at 8:36 pm

To the best of my knowledge, Cruz’s dad never wished he’d crash in the corporate jet. Unlike Der Donald’s…

    Jes’ sayin’…

After seeing Rick Tyler’s comments tonight I am really wondering if Cruz will suspend tonight. Tyler seems to think it will happen. He would know.

Huskers4Palin | May 3, 2016 at 8:30 pm

Rags….to quote a WW2 vet, “I haven’t such denial since Berlin 1945.”

    Ragspierre in reply to Huskers4Palin. | May 3, 2016 at 8:34 pm

Well, I haven’t seen any greater denial than Sell-out Sarah’s endorsement of BIG GOVERNMENT, SCREW THE WEST T-rump.

I’m not denying anything. I’m saying that Cruz will fight on to the convention.

    Can’t you read?

Cruz Drops Out. Comments Ragspierre.

conservative tarheel | May 3, 2016 at 8:47 pm

well … congrats president Hillary …

Liberty Bell | May 3, 2016 at 8:50 pm

I don’t think you want to see Hillary in the White House. Give yourself some time before you lock yourself into a course of action.

Classy speech by Cruz tonight. We haven’t heard the last from him…I switched away from him but I wish him well.

DaMav in reply to Walter. | May 3, 2016 at 9:20 pm

I still have a lot of respect for Cruz, although the past month took a toll.

Ragspierre in reply to DaMav. | May 3, 2016 at 10:03 pm

      DaMav | May 3, 2016 at 6:27 pm

It’s over. Please Ted, drop out and endorse Trump. You are looking more the fool every week this goes on.

Yeah, your “respect” drips from your mole-troll gaslighting posts.

You’ve never fooled me. You were always a T-rumpian troll.

A true leader is not one who forgets to place their followers that you have led to defeat first.
