By all means, let’s reopen the WeinerGate wound

Anthony Weiner is being rehabilitated in preparation for a run for Mayor of New York City.

Seth Mandel at Commentary:

When a popular Democratic politician leaves office under the cloud of scandal and disgrace, the foremost question on his mind is when–not if–the media will begin reconstructing his career for him. There was the lionized Bill Clinton, who was impeached. Then there was former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, whose rehabilitation included a CNN show and a regular spot in Slate, where he proved to be an utterly conventional polemicist and shallow political thinker.

And now we have the effort by the New York Times to resuscitate Anthony Weiner, whose congressional career was marked by erratic public temper tantrums and an inability to control himself or the volume of his voice. He left Congress after being caught in a sex scandal involving a college girl, and then falsely accused conservatives like Andrew Breitbart of making the story up. At every step in the scandal Weiner chose the least honorable path. Before the scandal ended his congressional term, Weiner was considered by some to be a favorite for the next New York City mayoral election. Now, two years after the scandal, he says he still wants to be mayor, and may in fact run for the Democratic nomination this year for the fall general election. Could he actually win?

The NY Times rehabilitation of Weiner comes at the expense of reality, which is that Andrew Breitbart was the one who held Weiner to account, and Weiner fessed up only after lying and accusing others, and only when there was no choice:

Weiner’s comeback would relieve the citizenry of the prospect of Christine “Chick-fil-A Not Welcome In NY” Quinn becoming Mayor.

Hard to decide which would be worse.

With Weiner we get the added benefit of reopening the deviousness of the left-blogosphere in covering for Weiner, Weinergate retrospective — the lying liars and their lies about Andrew Breitbart

Yet there were to be no apologies from those who attacked him, even though Weinergate: The Line For Apologies To Andrew Breitbart Forms On The Left:

Breitbart hijacking Weiner’s presser was the best moment in the history of ever.

What is the surprise here? Moreover, the Republicans now have Sanford as their candidate, so who’s to complain about Weiner?

    Anybody…and EVERYBODY…with standards.

You know…like not liking being lied to.

plenty of people complaining about sanford too if you bothered to give a damn.

      Thanks for your thoughtful reply.
Of course there are complainers, like me and I suppose you, but not enough to have carried the day even on the Republican side.

I’m not excusing Sanford. He cheated. Lied to his constituents. Disintegrated his family. But … uh … Weiner was … uh … for 3 years tweeting close-up X-rated photos he took of himself to women he didn’t know! (I commented earlier today on the Tip Line about his lying cheating blaming-of-innocents progressive narcissism + Islamist wife etc. )

Sanford / Weiner. I see a degree of difference of degeneracy. I would refer you to a further degree of difference in today’s “news” of the hapless Chinese fellow and his eel but prudence prevails.

Terry McAuliffe, the chairman of the D.N.C., who was watching the scene unfold, said: “Huma Weiner! Oh, my gosh! That’s so funny.”

Well…yeah.

I’d feel a lot more sympathy for Huma if she wasn’t an enabler and Muslim Brotherhoodlem(tm) burrowed into State.

You had to mention uber-reprobate and traitorous scum Charles ‘Chucklehead’ Johnson — didn’t ya.

Just had to ruin an otherwise lovely, lazy afternoon — didn’t ya.

Or — maybe I’m just way too loathsome of deranged lunatic Charles Chucklehead’s very existence on my planet taking up space and breathing my air.

Yeah — that’s probably what it is.

RIP Andrew Breitbart. You are vindicated more & more each and every single passing day.

BREITBART LIVES!

Weiner passed the Democrat’s vetting process – he could tweet while playing with himself.

Weiner won’t have to deal with Ed Koch. If he did, I think he’d be in big trouble.

Rosalie – are you saying Koch would eat Weiner for lunch???

Personally, I hope Weiner wins – it’s not like NYC is going to elect someone sane, and at least we get a lot of material for some very funny jokes.

Does massaging a sore weiner actually work?

[…] Ace remembers much more about the timeline than I do, but I’ll tell you what I do remember. Anthony Weiner lied to the entire country until he was forced to tell the truth and liberal media outlets like the NYT’s had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the truth by Andrew Breitbart, Ace and many others. […]

Since democrats in general have no shame, this is right in line with their MO…

Anybody who gents married to a lesbian by Bill Clinton & is not a lesbian is truly NY ‘ayor material.

Juba Doobai! | April 10, 2013 at 9:36 pm

His wife is connected to the Muslim Brotherhood who gets its money from Obama who gets it from the American taxpayer and some of that money likely cycles back to raise Weiner from political oblivion so the Muslim Brotherhood will have a say in decision-making in New York.

A Muslim Brotherhood woman does not marry a Jewish man unless it can advance the cause of Islam.

Antony is learning TWERKING by correspondence. He’s a rebel – Just because doesn’t do what everybody else does , that is no reason for you Juba to not love him .

I for one cannot wait for the vids.

I have no idea what TWERKING is. When Weiner first came on the scene many, many, many years ago. I had a sort of crush on him cuz I liked his looks. Very shallow, indeed. I got over that very quickly.
