DNC Hack Way Worse Than Originally Thought

DNC Hack Way Worse Than Originally Thought

Democrats panicking over imminent release of more emails

A massive hack of the Democratic National Committee’s email system cost former Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz her job.

A few weeks after Wikileaks published more than 19,000 hacked emails from top Democratic Party officials, investigators have indicated the personal email accounts of more than 100 Hillary campaign officials and other organizations may have been targeting in the attack.

The New York Times reported:

The main targets appear to have been the personal email accounts of Hillary Clinton’s campaign officials and party operatives, along with a number of party organizations.

Officials have acknowledged that the Russian hackers gained access to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is the fund-raising arm for House Democrats, and to the Democratic National Committee, including a D.N.C. voter analytics program used by Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign.

But the hack now appears to have extended well beyond those groups, and organizations like the Democratic Governors’ Association may also have been affected, according to Democrats involved in the investigation.

Democrats are concerned another swath of emails may be released. The first batch of emails published by Wikileaks contained a thread showing what appeared to be a suggestion to use Bernie Sanders’ religion as a point of attack.

The extension of the hack’s scope beyond the D.N.C. and the House Democratic committee added a troubling new element to the case, the staff member said.

American authorities remain uncertain whether the electronic break-in to the committee’s computer systems was intended as fairly routine cyberespionage or as part of an effort to manipulate the presidential election.

Russian motives are still an open question, said a federal law enforcement official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity.

There is no evidence so far that the theft penetrated the emails of lawmakers or staff members who serve on the Intelligence Committees, two staff members said.

The F.B.I. says it has no direct evidence that Mrs. Clinton’s private email server was hacked by the Russians or anyone else. But in June, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said that intruders had tried, and that any successful intruders were probably far too skilled to leave evidence of their intrusion behind. Law enforcement officials said he had the Russians in mind.

Mrs. Clinton’s aides were concerned about the possibility of an outside breach after a hacker calling himself “Guccifer” got into the email account in 2013 of Sidney Blumenthal, a longtime confidante of Mrs. Clinton’s who often emailed her on her private server, according to new documents released Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Wikileaks is offering $20k reward for information on the mysterious death of DNC Staffer, Seth Rich.

Meanwhile on Hot Air, Power line, Red State, the Hill et-al the columnists are full of the rending of clothing & the wailing of the stuck pigs of the parties & Conservative privilege over the damage Donald Trump & his supporters are bringing down on those Towers of insider privilege. There’s talk of denying Trump further party funding & expending those resources down ticket to save party flacks. The signers of the statement declaring Trump an existential threat is now up to 70. Their message appears to be Hilary is the last bulwark for saving the country.

And these are the same sources said to have Trump in their back pocket by some of the more astute commentators on this site.
Yeah, & there was another shooter on the grassy knoll.

The response of the GOP establishment is a good indicator that the primary voters recognized the reality of the situation and were right to attempt to do something about it.

      Yep.

Say this for him — Donald Trump drives all the right people bat-**** crazy.

Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi is shrieking about ‘Watergate style’ burglary and theft of data. She would be pathetic if she was not such a crook. (who else does that statement apply too?)

Ragspierre in reply to secondwind. | August 12, 2016 at 12:11 am

Of course, that’s a crock of shit. doublesucks HATES reporting, so he describes it in straw-man clothing.

Here’s the reality… There are people in office (you can like them or hate them or feel neutral) who are watching a POTUS candidate corkscrew into the ground. It makes them uncomfortable.

“Here’s Trump earlier today arguing that, with interest rates low, now would be a fine time to borrow to help fund half a trillion dollars in infrastructure upgrades. That idea coming from Obama would be a laugh line for 48 hours in conservative media about liberals dealing another blow to the national debt to fund their stimulus boondoggles, but we are where we are.”

    He’s a Collectivist fraud.

And remember, to doublesucks conservatives are loooooooosers. He hate us.

I don’t hate you Queer Pierre. I hold you in utter contempt. There is a difference. Hate poisons me. Contempt means I see you for what you are. Contempt means I understand you & what you are.

I have contempt for a mental lightweight & moral bankrupt who can’t differentiate between a Donald Trump & a Hillary Clinton. Who apparently even sees the criminal Hilary Clinton as better for the country than a builder & developer.

You are so blinded by hatred you are blind to what you are. Unlike you, I know what I am.

Everything you write oozes with hatred & corruption. It’s no wonder your preference is Hillary Clinton. Like prefers like.

Lady Penguin in reply to Ragspierre. | August 12, 2016 at 4:19 am

But it doesn’t bother you that the country is being “corkscrewed” into the ground by the Leftist Democrats and criminality of the administration and Hillary Campaign?

Right got it, you’re still on your hate mongering trip.

Ragspierre in reply to Lady Penguin. | August 12, 2016 at 6:05 am

It crawls all over me that the country is being corkscrewed into the ground, and a lot of people chose a stinking, lying, pathological Collectivist thug over a lot of very fine candidates for POTUS.

Sure it does. I despise where we are. So do a lot of elected folks. Don’t you?

        Lady P.
What really grinds on Q. P. is a New York sharpie handed 3 Texans their asses. Of course everyone but Q. P. knows ShowBoat Cruz is Canadian.

See what a sad, twisted, hateful sack of bile you are, doublesucks? You should. Everyone else does.

When did you lose your life? Was it back in the 70s when you bought into that tax rebel bullshit?

          Q. P.
          You can’t handle the truth,
So you vomit up hatred & bile,
          Just as I’ve said.
U R A pathetic looser with to much time on his hands because his “law practice” has few clients. That’s not me saying that, it was another one of the dozen or so contributors to L I who’s handed you your ass over the last several months.

Ragspierre in reply to secondwind. | August 12, 2016 at 10:39 am

Well, see, you are showing your ass…again…some more…repeatedly.

I have exactly the number of clients I want at the moment. I’ve been up most of the night drafting pleadings and such, for which I’ll be paid my regular hourly fee. Which is pretty considerable.

What do you do for a “living”?

And, the question stands: when did you lose your life? Was it when you bought into the tax rebel bullshit in the 70s?

Thank God for Wikileaks, hackers and Judicial Watch.

Until now I never thought I could have a positive opinion of WikiLeaks; I saw it as anti-American.

It now appears that I was wrong and they support transparency and fight official corruption and dishonesty. That’s something I can get behind.

DieJustAsHappy | August 11, 2016 at 8:49 pm

Huh. The political party so adamantly opposed to The Wall and boundaries of other sorts have a problem providing adequate protection for sensitive information. Porous borders. Porous minds. Porous computer systems.

Has any law enforcement agency said it was “Russian Hackers” or are we just all buying into the narrative?

tom swift in reply to WillS68. | August 11, 2016 at 10:52 pm

Perhaps Pravda-on-the-Hudson wouldn’t be flogging it so energetically if anyone actually believed it.

I can see “Russian hackers” becoming one of those universal causes of (or scapegoats for) everything, just like “global warming”.

    Valerie in reply to WillS68. | August 11, 2016 at 11:55 pm

I read that article on the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune, and it had “Russians” three times, but it also, in a separate paragraph, said that the FBI had initiated an investigation. I wrote a letter asking who those unnamed “officials” were.

Why would anyone from the FBI say such a thing upon opening an investigation. My guess is that the “officials” are officials of the Clinton Campaign, who started immediately with that narrative. It would be odd if somebody knew at this point.

    RodFC in reply to WillS68. | August 12, 2016 at 12:24 am

It definitely was not Russian sponsored hackers. Russian sponsored hackers would be bribing Hillary not putting this out on wikileaks.

Rick the Curmudgeon in reply to RodFC. | August 12, 2016 at 12:36 am

Russian hackers wouldn’t leave their fingerprints all over it either.
And just what difference does it make WHO hacked the system; WHAT’s in the e-mails?

    mariner in reply to WillS68. | August 12, 2016 at 12:08 pm

    Who’s “we”?

I never did believe the Russian hackers theory. I’ve suspected from the beginning Assange’s source(s) came from inside the DNC.

You know, it occurs to me that the media narrative that Putin is trying to help Trump may be the opposite of the truth. Maybe he doesn’t want Hillary to be president because he doesn’t want to have to pay her rates.

Why are we still calling it a hack when circumstances seem to point to it being a DNC leak?

The entire Left in America is a threat to national security.

So far the reality is some highly placed democratic party officials have resigned when their actual writings are publicized.
Says a lot of how they think of the little people.
Never fear though, plenty of room on hateful hillery’s campaign staff for the homophobes and racists.
