Ted Cruz: “I have always been faithful to my wife”

Ted Cruz: “I have always been faithful to my wife”

Throws down the gauntlet.

http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/04/04/megyn-kelly-asks-ted-cruz-if-he-ever-had-affair

Ted Cruz has been the subject of a story by The National Enquirer alleging he had 5 mistresses.

Trump supporters on social media singled out, based on barely pixelated images in the Enquirer, Amanda Carpenter for particular viciousness. She denied the story as did another woman, Trump’s spokesperson Katrina Pierson.

Cruz called the story garbage, but never directly committed as to whether he EVER had an affair.

Cruz was interviewed by Megyn Kelly in a town hall to air tonight. The following clip was just posted as a tease for the show tonight:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) adamantly denied that he has ever had an extramarital affair during an interview with Megyn Kelly that will air tonight.

The subject came to light recently in a National Enquirer story that claimed Cruz had “five secret mistresses.”

“Have you committed adultery in your marriage?” Kelly asked.

“I have not. That attack was complete and utter garbage. It was complete lies,” said Cruz in front of a crowd of supporters in Madison, Wisconsin.

“I have always been faithful to my wife. I love my wife. She is my best friend in the whole world.”

The gauntlet has been thrown down by Cruz. Let’s see if the pathological people posting to #CruzSexScandal, not to mention the National Enquirer, take him up on it.

Comments

I don’t really consider the “gauntlet” being thrown down here. He had many chances to say these words and didn’t. People saw that! He had chances to smash this story, and Carly (or his surrogates) had to jump in and save him.

This comment feels so weak and insignificant at this point. To me, he had a chance to show leadership, to stand on his own two feet, and to very bluntly state his faithfulness to his wife. He failed.

Now, whether or not the rumors are true can always be debated. Personally, I don’t know, nor do I care. This super pro-Cruz Q and A just seems like “too little, too late” in my book.

Because someone publishes a nasty story about you and your family and you don’t immediately run out and scream your innocence then you become a suspect? Do you know how many rumors fly around these people every day? When you know a story is so outrageously false then you tend to ignore it. Put yourself in his shoes for one minute before saying such stupid thigs as you have said.

legacyrepublican | April 4, 2016 at 3:24 pm

No joy in mud-slinging-ville tonight.

But then you still have commentators on The View who long for him to be a hypocrite so they can laugh at him and make themselves feel good.

Slime pigs posting in 4…3…2…

Since clinton, saying he has never been unfaithful isn’t a full denial. What is Cruz’s definition of unfaithful. Does unfaithful include sex without any emotional commitment to the sex partner?

You need to ask lawyers like lyin Ted like this.

During your marriage have you ever had vaginal or oral sexual contact with a person who is not your wife?

m11_9 in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 5:14 pm

The question needs to be that precise to nail down a good lawyer like this.

Sammy Finkelman in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 5:56 pm

What is Cruz’s definition of unfaithful

It only starts from the date of their marriage, and does not include the entire period since he met her.

I understand the National Enquirer will be doing more reporting on this this week. And the DC madam’s lawyer says Cruz is listed as a John in the records.

Ragspierre in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 3:36 pm

Yep. The Deacon of Slime Pigs comes right to the mic.

What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

If you and Cruz stop lying about Trump then we will stop telling the truth about Cruz.

gmac124 in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 3:57 pm

How can we lie about Trump? He has covered every position from every angle since he started his campaign.

inspectorudy in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:24 pm

The only way to lie about Trump would be to say that he is honest, sincere, kind, faithful, has integrity and loves his wife(S?.

Arminius in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:31 pm

You’re a Trumptard. You don’t know how to tell the truth, just like your candidate.

I know math is hard, but the DC Madame’s operation was shut down in 2006 and she offed herself in 2008. And you’re delusional enough to imagine Cruz would be denying he has never cheated on his wife if like David Vitter (who since you’re a Trumptard you surely don’t remember was outed in 2007) he knows his phone number is on the list of her customers.

This would have come out when he was elected Senator in 2012.

But you run with this like you run with his supposed ineligibility because of his Canadian birth. Note the courts are slapping these challenges down. Usually not on the merits, but when the courts do decide on the merits they say these challenges are just stooopid. That’s right; stupid with at least three “o”s.

Cruz is a Bush Neocon guy. Worked in Washington DC for several years BEFORE 2006.

The DC Madam’s records were SEALED in 2007 by court order so nothing could come out after Vitter. But these records were good enough to bring down Vitter, and if Cruz is in them may bring him down as well.

Math isn’t hard but knowing all the facts and not just a subset of same might help you keep your foot from penetrating so deep down your throat.

Arminius in reply to Arminius. | April 4, 2016 at 8:09 pm

You are none too bright, are you Trumptard Gary? I know Cruz worked at the DoJ and FTC under W. The latter job, especially, that he was director of policy planning at the FTC, is one of his selling points as a candidate. He isn’t just a lawyer and a Senator but he also has executive and policy making experience. The point is, moron, before the court sealed the list the MSM and partisans pored over it looking for government officials, not just elected officials. If the press reported that a deputy secretary of State was on the list, they damn well would have reported that Bush’s director of policy planning at the FTC and an associate deputy AG was on the list. Just to embarrass Bush.

I suppose you spent that decade smoking crack, but the libs hated W. They’d have loved to put up a neon sign that a high official in the DoJ/FTC was a whoremonger.

And that reporting would have been available for use against Cruz not only in 2012 but when he was arguing cases before the SCOTUS as the Texas Solicitor General.

          Continue beclowning yourself, please.

Your entire rant is constructed on nothing but your unsupported assumptions about what people you don’t know and don’t name looked at and were capable of finding. You couch your lack of anything meaningful to say with insults and name calling.

So take your anger and insecurities and shove them up your ass if you can get them past your neck.

inspectorudy in reply to Arminius. | April 4, 2016 at 11:56 pm

I know throwing mud at britt is fun but do you all realize how much of the comments this troll takes up. Why don’t we all ignore him and maybe like janitor he will go back to the daily beast. OK?

malclave in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:48 pm

And the DC madam’s lawyer says Cruz is listed as a John in the records.

Looking forward to seeing the evidence… and also whether Trump is listed.

Arminius in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:59 pm

Actually the disbarred birther lawyer who has, oh by the way, sued the SCOTUS for treason hasn’t said whether or not Cruz’s name is on the list. Because even he’s not stupid enough to violate a gag order. Which is not likely to be lifted, and he knows it. So the scumbag is just looking for a payday because it must be tough to make a living as a disbarred lawyer.

Also he probably misses the limelight.

Somehow he’s saying HE subpoenaed Verizon and got a different list of phone numbers than the prosecution.

He knows the Trumptards well; along with baseless innuendo he’s started a GoFundMe account for his “legal fees.” Why don’t you be the kind of sucker you’ve long demonstrated yourself to be and throw away some of your money on that scumbag, too.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PEOPLE! This is a story in the National Enquirer. Look at the source before you believe the rumor.

That’s what John Edwards’ people said.

inspectorudy in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:26 pm

Hey, didn’t you and janitor threaten to quit LI? May I help you along? You offer nothing here but hate and insults so why not bo to Breitbart and wallow?

No. Not me. You are confused, but that isn’t a surprise.

As far as your desire to censor thoughts and ideas you don’t agree with, that and the fact my presence obviously annoys you is more than enough to keep me around.

Arminius in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:44 pm

I want you to keep commenting here. Remember the old adage?

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to comment on the internet and remove all doubt.”

That’s a rule most people should follow. You? I like and welcome the fact you do the opposite.

Ragspierre in reply to inspectorudy. | April 4, 2016 at 4:43 pm

Admitting you are a troll, and nothing more. Though a lot less, as well…

        Just a hiss and a by-word.

Arminius in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 4:38 pm

Britt’s faith in this story is extremely appropriate. After all, he’s backing the tabloid joke candidate.

When the DC Madame thing doesn’t pan out he’ll start saying that Ted Cruz was still unfaithful. Just with space aliens and Sasquatch.

ecreegan in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 5:46 pm

In the John Edwards case, the Enquirer flatly reported that he had had an affair and opened itself to a libel suit. They’re not doing this for Ted Cruz; they’re reporting that private investigators are investigating at least five women as potential Cruz mistresses.

They probably have solid evidence of the investigations, but you can hire a private investigator to investigate anything as long as you’re willing to pay the bills, so in no way is that proof that any of these alleged affairs occurred.

inspectorudy in reply to ecreegan. | April 5, 2016 at 12:03 am

They have also said that their “Evidence” comes from a third party so they are off of the libel hook. They cannot be sued for reporting what another person told them. This is their whole escape hatch for a vicious smear piece. In the Edwards case, they had first-hand evidence and the stood by it with their reputation, if they ever had one. Now they are using the weasely way of hiding behind a third party. This is all Trump and his cronies dirty trick.

“That’s what John Edwards’ people said.”

Yup. And the Enquirer also broke the Lewinsky scandal that ABC was sitting on.

I’m a Cruz fan, but I am so tired of this game – unless he is sexually harassing or sexually assaulting women at work (Bill Clinton), then I don’t really care who he is sleeping with.

When his campaign is based on being a prophet for morman Glenn Beck and being annointed by god to be president according to Beck and his father then affairs are quite relevant. Otherwise I would agree with you.

HarrietHT in reply to Fen. | April 4, 2016 at 5:13 pm

So you don’t care that Cruz is full-bore establishment and has been since day one, lying to the voters so he can do the will of his globalist supporters?
You Cruz people really do need to get out more and do a little research. The level of incompetence — as it relates to the due diligence of your candidate — is off the charts.
But — pardon me. There is another explanation: maybe you’re 100% globalist shills — that would explain a lot.

Arminius in reply to HarrietHT. | April 4, 2016 at 8:18 pm

Hah! Trump is going around bragging about all his establishment ties, and criticizing Cruz for having none. Nobody, Trump says, likes Cruz. But Trump tells he can work with everydody. Why? Because the establishment pols were selling favors, and establishment cronies like Trump were buying them. Trump brags about how he’d buy politicians.

Now I’m told Trump is the only guy who can clean up Washington. But then he’s the only candidate on the ticket for either party who dirtied the place up with his money.

Now that’s why voting for Trump is just dumb.

Arminius in reply to HarrietHT. | April 4, 2016 at 8:22 pm

This is the choice you want? Vote for the corrupt establishment NY liberal politician with the D after her name who sold influence. OR, vote for the corrupt establishment NY liberal businessman with the R after his name who bought influence.

      Oh, yeah, that’s real smart.

Jacque in reply to Fen. | April 7, 2016 at 1:45 pm

    >>then I don’t really care who he is sleeping with.

So cheating on ones spouse is a “meh” situation? Not saying that I believe the NE but cheating is, at least to the ones whose moral compass isn’t totally screwed up, considered a major character flaw. Once is a red flag, but five times? I feel sorry if you have any kids and if you ever explained sex and morality. Yikes.

A few observations …

#1 : An intelligent wife always seems to know when her husband has “made a poor judgement call”.

#2 : An intelligent husband always talks to the wife about “temptations”.
( Guys – Pay Attention! ). Letting your other half help “diffuse the situation” is good for the relationship/marriage. It speaks realms about “commitment” and your feelings for your other half.

#3 : A good relationship/marriage makes it very easy to “cast doubt” at any misconduct allegations. The wife knows exactly where and who you were doing. And it was not someone else.

————————————-

This whole “scandal” reeks of FAKE. Allegations of allegations? That is all the “National Enquirer” has.

Personal Opinion : Its a frame job.

The more interesting question would be to ask if Hillary has had tongue & lip contact with another woman’s crotchital region.

Maybe Megyn was setting Cruz up by getting him to make this full on denial. Maybe she knows about something that is going to break soon.

Henry Hawkins | April 4, 2016 at 3:51 pm

Well, I’d like to believe Cruz never fooled around on his wife, but then again, the National Inquirer absolutely nailed the Batboy story, so….

inspectorudy in reply to Henry Hawkins. | April 4, 2016 at 4:30 pm

They have also nailed the “UFO” story several times as well as the aliens among us! People who hunger for this garbage are the same ones you see reading the trash mags in the checkout lines at the stores.

Late surge, or just an outlier? ARG poll in Wisconsin has Trump 42, Cruz 32, Kasich 23. Cruz leads most other polls.

New ARG Wisconsin poll has TRUMP up by 10% points over Cruz !!!!!

Please God make it so !!!

Kasich labels Lyin Ted Cruz a “smear artist”. Well Kasich isn’t stupid about everything I guess.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/04/04/kasich-labels-cruz-a-smear-artist-over-wisconsin-spot/

Ragspierre in reply to Gary Britt. | April 4, 2016 at 6:07 pm

Kasich did not address the substance of the ad, which re-animated an attack from the 2014 Ohio gubernatorial campaign about tax credits awarded to a company that once employed Kasich. But the ad’s existence is read as evidence that Kasich has remained competitive in at least a few of Wisconsin’s eight congressional districts, raising the prospect that he could take their winner-take-all delegate haul or that he could clear a path for Donald Trump to take them.

“We have one guy with no experience and the other guy whose experience amounts to shutting down the government and calling the majority leader a liar,” said Kasich, referring to Trump and Cruz. “How do we go to a convention and we pick somebody that can’t beat Hillary? I’m not gonna be a pincushion. I’m not gonna be a marshmallow.”

Kasich’s frustration with coverage of the race flashed a few times in the town hall. Several voters prefaced their questions by begging Kasich to stay in the race. He said he would, then remarked on how 38 percent of Wisconsin voters could not identify him, costing him votes.

“I’m up 14 points on Hillary in Wisconsin, and I’m going to lose in Wisconsin,” said Kasich, referring to the primary vote Tuesday. “It’s unbelievable.”

Later, while reminding voters that the New York Times had endorsed him, Kasich turned to a spokesman to check how many other newspapers had done the same.
    ——————————————

    So, where’s the smear…???

ugottabekiddinme | April 4, 2016 at 5:56 pm

Remember when it was a really big deal that, in his Playboy interview, Jimmy Carter admitted committing adultery “in his heart” by looking with lust on a woman not his wife?

Ah good times, good times.

Henry Hawkins in reply to ugottabekiddinme. | April 4, 2016 at 6:20 pm

On the other hand, Carter fought off a pretty mean ninja rabbit. Can’t recall if that was before or after he reported his sighting of Venus as a UFO.

Henry Hawkins | April 4, 2016 at 6:23 pm

Accusations of adultery from ragazine run by Trump personal friend and campaign donor…. check.

Evidence for accusation…. huh? Evidence?

Melania Trump will be on Hannity tonight with Trump for an Hour special townhall. Previews look pretty good.

Also just saw guy who is running against Ryan in GOP primary. He sounds just like Trump on issues but doesn’t have the Trump delivery. Hope he wins but odds big against it.

Watched Trump speeches today. He is really back in strong form today. Hitting strong on his bread and butter issues of jobs, trade deals, Cruz support for TPP/obamatrade, Wall and border security, and immigration. Very strong and focused today.

William Jacobson and Ragspierre take heart, there are still some users lurking from the hay days of the Liz Warren coverage. I’m sure that you have noticed both here and on the FB page that it seems like people only comment on Trump/Cruz articles with the same lies and attacks that they write regardless of the content of the article.

We are experiencing the very same phenomenon as the Michael Brown “Hands Up! Don’t Shoot!” wherein the people propagating the lies know they are spreading lies but don’t care. They even know that everyone knows that they are spreading lies which somehow makes it rational to them.

Monogamy is not fidelity.

I don’t know the fit between what is claimed and what occurred.

The gauntlet was tossed when he said the NE claims were garbage.

(Thanks for this venue, Dr. J et al)

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has been salivating over the DC Madame story.

The DC madame’s telephone records have been sealed but the attorney says they implicate somebody in he presidential race. It would have to be Cruz, because previous people who leaked information on the list would have leaked Trump/Clinton/Kasich/Sanders’ names yo the public.

Leaking sealed court records to destroy candidates is what Democrats do. Obama did it twice!

This brought out the hypocritical amorals and the Trump Humpers. Hilarious.
