The Iveys – In The Dark

The Iveys – In The Dark

We have featured The Iveys before to a very good reader reaction.

The band members are the cousins of LI reader, photographer (also, here, here) and West Texas correspondent Danelle, who also happens to be one of the first to email me whenever I get a national media reference, usually in real time.

Danelle’s children and husband also help out the band.  The Iveys website is here.

The Iveys have come out with a new song.  Given the craziness of the season, I thought this would be a nice change.

Danelle writes:

A few of us our still working and making a small living out here in flyover country.

The Ivey’s debut “In the Dark” is from their sophomore album Days and Night. This time we follow the family ghost who has slipped in and out of gatherings for many years now. As always the production of an Ivey’s video is a family and friends affair from the camera work to the music and the actors. Special thanks to the actress Erin Ayub who has been a part of our families for so many years.

Nice to see you doing your bit for native americans .

Buffy St.Marie is a Cree Canadian Aboriginal or First Nations.
“Native American” is a widely hated term among the original first nations ethnic groups of the U.S. Aboriginal or First Nations is the term used by the tribal members for their Canadian tribes. “Native American” is a slur to certain ethnic groups. Oh, by the way, the American Apaches are so offended by the word “reservation”, they call home “Apache Homelands”. SEAL Team Six seriously offended the descendents of Geronimo by using his name as a code word during the Osama killing. The wars between the Brits’ colonists and First Nations peoples have been over for a couple hundred years. When will they be respected as folks made in God’s image like you and me?

Or perhaps you meant Harry Hawkins was being kind to fellow Americans native(born in the U.S.) buying their Cd. No personal offense intended.

Great music!! Come on down here to Houston and play sometime!

Looks like it was shot in a a Texas pecan(pronounced: puh-KAHN)orchard.

Note: Why a puh-KAHN? Well, a PEE-can is something grandma kept under the bed before they had indoor plumbing. Rich folks could afford the porcelain ones, called ‘chamber pots’. 😆

It is indeed pleasing to see some music with melody still coming out which is a rare occurrence these days.

A nice diversion Prof!

I’ll dispense with the usual rhetorical review and just say…

THAT WAS AWESOME!

KEEP IT UP!

Words’s all fine an’ dandy, but BUY A DANGED CD.

GrdanklTheStrong | October 8, 2012 at 9:30 pm

These guys are great! Just ordered both of the CDs on their website. Yes, there *are* LI readers and Ivies fans in California!

There you go. C’mon now LI-ers, pony up, support these youngins and our fellow LI regular, Ms. Danelle. With all these high falutin’ lawyers roundabout, we oughta be buyin’ out their whole inventory.

Can’t say I liked the music (not my taste), but the videography was impressive.

Find myself agreeing with Con Ed about the music and the video; their name reminds me the British band Badfinger was originally called The Iveys in their pre-Apple Records days.

Wow! Beautiful song!

It may be all in the family, but that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t very professional!

Great music and great production values!

If any Romney/Ryan staffers are lurking, I bet these kids are available for the inauguration in January!
