Gawker editor responsible for Christine O’Donnell “one night stand” story joins NY Post

What possibly could go wrong?

Remy Stern, who left Gawker late last year after Nick Denton installed A.J. Daulerio as editor-in-chief, has a new gig: He’s joining the New York Post as a digital consultant.

“Remy will help shape the Post‘s overall digital strategy going forward and work on the site day-to-day,” a Post spokeswoman told Capital. “He will work in the Post newsroom on a daily basis.”

Readers will recall that Stern was responsible for the putrid Gawker story on Christine O’Donnell’s “one-night stand” which included a description of O’Donnell’s pubic hair.

Stern defended the story, which was part of a larger left-wing media sexualized assault on O’Donnell, with a prominent feminist blog jumping on the bandwagon.

Stern also gained notariety for a nasty tweet he sent out regarding Meg Whitman’s son.

Like I said, what possibly could go wrong?

Stern in.

An odd calculus at work, seems to me.

The NY Post admitted in a court case that it employs no fact checkers, and makes no effort to verify that claims in its articles are true.

It makes perfect sense. With Al Sharpton the face of NBC, it’s clear there are absolutely no requirements whatsoever to be a member in good standing of the media.

Also, Fox recently hired Jesse Jackson’s daughter.

Maybe:

a. Rupert Murdoch is positioning himself for an Obama victory and Left-controlled US government, or
b. Murdoch is appeasing the Left so as to avoid prosecution and/or antitrust action for various Newscorp scandals.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

I do not view Murdoch as having conservative convictions. IMHO he’s out to make money wherever and however he can, and built up Fox because he saw conservatives as an under-served media market.

(Just in case someone happens not to know: Murdoch’s conglomerate owns the NY Post.)

Murdoch must be getting senile.
