Ann Coulter: Forget everything I ever said about Romney losing to Obama

Ann Coulter: Forget everything I ever said about Romney losing to Obama

Ann Coulter is going after Newt Gingrich now because Newt has not been sufficiently consistent over the years, and because Romney is inevitable and will beat Obama:

The mainstream media keep pushing alternatives to Mitt Romney not only because they are terrified of running against him, but also because they want to keep Republicans fighting, allowing Democrats to get a four-month jump on us.

Meanwhile, everyone knows the nominee is going to be Romney.

That’s not so bad if you think the most important issues in this election are defeating Obama and repealing Obamacare.

Oh wait:

Update:  I almost forgot about when Coulter bashed Sarah Palin and tried to portray herself as heroic for doing so, Ann Coulter’s Moment of Weakness.

WASHINGTON — A new wave of pessimism colored super committee talks on Tuesday as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blasted anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist for meddling with the panel’s progress and suggested that the American public “impeach” him.

I agree. We should impeach Harry Reid.

I just saw a piece on NBC where they’re going after Newt for dealings with Freddy Mac etc. All of this simply reinforces my belief that the democrat attack apparatus is in full swing doing so shotgun style. And it is a big asset to have the mainstream media squarely in their corner.

Perry imploded deservedly but the rest have been targets of character assassination and dirty tricks in general. All of this has the fingerprints of democrat operatives on every accusation and event.

Quite frankly, I cannot fathom any sane individual stepping forward to save this country. The vitriol is simply too much for the best and brightest to overcome.

Shame on us…

Are we sure she’s on our side?

Like the 99% of commentators, she (strictly speaking) on her side.

The purpose of Coulter and her species is to entertain, not inform. The ludicrously long — indeed semi-permanent — campaign season the media have created in order to better line their pockets puts a good deal of stress on them, which explains how they act.

I am disappointed, but not surprised.

Romney is the wrong choice for conservatives. What good is it to defeat Obama if we put into the office someone who will further the very same policies?

We are too far down the road to ruin to care whether we are going 35 or 65. We have to stop, turn around, and go back.

If we can not have one in the White House to do that then we must wield an overwhelming majority in both House and Senate so that vetoes are overridden. We must strip his puppets in the myriad federal agencies of their budgets. Stripped to the bone, if not beyond.

We can achieve this if we realize that the race for the White House is no longer the one we must win. If we refuse to let our money, our time and our energy be thrown away for the glory of Mitt Romney in his Quixotic quest for power then we can, instead, turn this ship around.

I am not so blinded by Obama Derangement Syndrome to see his loss in 2012 as the end-all and be-all. We MUST focus on Congress in order to have a hope at the national level. Below that we must focus on state and local races.

Obama is a man wearing a giant’s myth. Even were he the giant his ego tries to be his power would fade and fail when countered by the death of the thousand cuts.

windbag in reply to Kerrvillian. | November 16, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Congress hasn’t reined him in, despite his flagrant disregard for the rule of law. I’m not convinced a more Republican House and a Republican Senate will confront and restrain a second Obama administration.

IrateNate in reply to windbag. | November 16, 2011 at 9:10 pm

While it may be true that Boehner is not the “steadfast conservative” he was billed as being, the true hold up has been in the Senate, where Harry Reid plays Renfield to Obama’s Dracula.

Getting rid of Obama just to get rid of Obama isn’t going to accomplish much. It saddens me that we may have Romney thrust upon us, and that Coulter is OK with that.

Personally, I feel we could accomplish more by replacing his henchman in the Senate, thereby rendering Obama’s role to that of the White House eunuch.

Shut Up Coulter…You already embarrassed yourself over Christie. Conservatives aren’t listening.

I’m still for the Aggie from Texas because of his record but she is annoying beyond belief.

JimMtnViewCaUSA | November 16, 2011 at 7:53 pm

Agree that we hardly need Repubs bashing Repubs. But, for the record, below are Ann Coulter’s words. It’s a fair cop, I think.

In addition to having an affair in the middle of Clinton’s impeachment; apologizing to Jesse Jackson on behalf of J.C. Watts — one of two black Republicans then in Congress –- for having criticized “poverty pimps,” and then inviting Jackson to a State of the Union address; cutting a global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi; supporting George Soros’ candidate Dede Scozzafava in a congressional special election; appearing in public with the Rev. Al Sharpton to promote nonspecific education reform; and calling Paul Ryan’s plan to save Social Security “right-wing social engineering,” we found out this week that Gingrich was a recipient of Freddie Mac political money…

…..and let’s not forget his flip-flops on on (among other issues) Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan, universal healthcare (including an individual mandate), Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, education, and the cap-and-tax scheme for carbon emissions.

huskers-for-palin | November 16, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Far as I’m concerned, Coulter and Ingraham have jumped-the-shark. I don’t listen to the anymore.

1. Ann Coulter: Forget everything I ever said about Romney losing to Obama

IMHO the point is that Coulter has forgotten everything she ever said about Romney losing to Obama.

More likely she doesn’t care. Per Owen J, I view her as an entertainer shock jock.

2. But I’m chagrined to say that I agree with her about the Palinistas. Her remarks are consistent with my personal experience and with what happened to Kathleen for expressing an extremely mild criticism of Palin.

3. Having said that, I acknowledge that the quality of Palin’s discourse has improved much more than I expected. If only she were a sitting, emphatically reelected governor, she might have a Reaganesque national presence. Ah, well.

Ann Coulter appears to be for Ann Coulter, I did not really like her when I was a democrat, don’t like her now that I’m an independent. I notice the repub “conservative” commercial industry is much more self serving than the ones on the left.

I’m voting for whoever is the nominee that has the best chance of evicting Barry. If its newt, fine, if its romney, fine as well, a roll of toilet paper with a R next to it gets my vote as well.

    jakee308 in reply to alex. | November 17, 2011 at 3:06 am

    Oh, please.

Liberals are less self serving than conservatives?

I’d say they’re most likely even all.

I would love to see a meter displayed every time the talking heads put their mouths in gear, showing show the accuracy of their previous predictions. (It would be nice for weather forecasts, too.) How this crowd can get air time and sell books when they are wrong so much of the time is mind-boggling. Both sides. The hysterical doomsday predictions that were uttered daily during the Reagan administrations proved false consistently. Why listen to these people?

Coulter has toned down her vitriol, however, her main function is to attract people to herself by creating one spectacle after another. Laura Ingram is so busy interrupting people that she is extremely tedious to watch or listen to – so I don’t anymore. Who cares what either of them say. They both could benefit from some time in charm school, huh?

I believe Romney will get the nomination, but I am not so sure he will beat Obama, even though I hope he does. Romney simply has no soul, no heart, nor does he hold any of his positions with conviction. It’s a shame that Newt is the most qualified guy, however, his demeanor is too condescending, negative and angry, and he has no concept of how his tone and body language turn people off. For example, has anyone ever seen Rupert Murdock speak? Murdock ends nearly every sentence with a smile – and he is clearly an effective communicator. Newt is simply yesterday’s classic authority figure, complete with trophy wife and DC elite attitude. He’d make a great prison warden. Hell-o!

If we do not beat Obama in 2012, I believe (and I hope) that will be the end of the Republican Party as we know it. The blue blood’s, like Barbara Bush, who wrote off Sarah Palin in such a condescending fashion, just don’t get it.

Not only are the blue bloods and the country club Republicans out of touch with the Tea Party movement, but they have no concept of what it is to put out a message. Donald Trump came out and said the obvious, that Obama is “a terrible president” and his numbers soared in days. Paul Ryan is interviewed by the MSM and he gives some milquetoast whiny response about Obama with all the vigor (NOT) of Mitch McConnell. Are we insipid or what?

The Republican Party seems impervious to input. They have no idea how new media works, they have no idea how to tell the people how detrimental Obama has been to this country, and they have clearly not learned anything from the Dole and McCain fiascoes.

I hope the Republican nominee is elected in 2012, however, I am by no means comfortable that it will happen with the disorganized, and ineffective manner in which the party is currently being run. God help us if we lose in 2012!

Well, Coulter is right on Newt’s inconsistencies. But I am sure that doesn’t fit for Gingrich supporters like the professor.

As for the inevitably angle by Ann of Romney, isn’t that what Gingrich supporters are saying about Newt being the only thing standing between Romney being the nominee? Spot the hypocrisy.

And, I see absolutely no correlation between calling out Newt’s inconsistencies and the mockery and ridicule Coulter inflicted on Sarah Palin, who isn’t even in the race.

There are two Ann Coulters.
The one I respect and enjoy takes apart the Left with all the deftness of a skilled surgeon. The other is an emotional wreck; a hysterical shill.
In 2008, she endorsed Romney because he was the last best chance to knock off McCain; defeating McCain was more important than properly vetting Romney. This year, she backed Cain without any idea who and/or what he stood for. She defended Cain from similar accusations made on Bill Clinton; only that time she led the charge with High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Now, she demonizes Newt for being insufficiently conservative. It is a fair observation but it loses all credibility when she speaks of the inevitability of Romney. Throw in the shiv to Palin and the bouquets to Christie and I am surprised she can still stand upright in the current political winds.
The Conservative Movement was built on substance, policies, and standards. However, there are folks in the Conservative Movement who would have snored through the Sermon on the Mount, but they’ll labor like scholars over a conservative’s pedigree.
Listening to folks like Ann Coulter defend the feckless Herman Cain, attack Sarah Palin, praise Chris Christie, and cave-in to the inevitability of Romney; it makes me wonder when the Conservative Movement lost its way. Have we forsaken the legacy of William Rusher, Bill Buckley, Phyllis Schlafly, and many others and replaced it with self-indulgent petulance?
We need to do better.

We have found out this cycle that some of our “conservative” pundits were not as conservative as they wanted us to believe. That said, Coulter’s heel turn has been WWE worthy.

One should not make the mistake of taking Coulter too seriously. She does often get it right about the Left, but her job is primarily to make trouble and these days self-indulgent petulance is something of a badge of honor amongst the Chattering Class.

There have also been and also will be Coulter’s out there. I grant there seem to be more of them these days and they are more shrill, but that does not mean the Conservative Movement has lost it’s way. Coulter is not the Conservative Movement; right-thinking voters are.

spartan in reply to Owen J. | November 17, 2011 at 12:12 am

Which is why I believe it will eventually come down to Romney vs Perry. I think it is very premature to annoint Romney.

On her Republican nominee picks, I find Coulter to be extremely annoying and vapid. I turn the channel when I see her pop up. First, we had to put up her crush on Christie schtick: Oh, Chris Christie! Oooh la la, he is so great. Christie is the only one who can beat Obama!

Now she’s on to Romney. STFU!

I don’t understand why Coulter believes Romney will have any enthusiasm for repealing Obamacare. I know he says he will, but his word isn’t worth a pitcher of warm ….

There are no Democrats in favor or repeal and believe it or not there are a lot of weak Republicans who aren’t eager for repeal either. Without a president solidly committed to repeal it’s going to be hard to do.

I’m losing respect for Ann Coulter. What little respect I ever had for her, that is. Any Republican who doesn’t understand just how bad Obamacare really is and how much it will hurt this country in more ways than just its healthcare doesn’t deserve any respect, much less anyone’s vote.

I’m beginning to think that Ann’s anorexia is starting to affect her mentally. (c’mon. NO ONE stays that thin without being a bit obsessed. Her genes/metabolism isn’t that good AND she’s getting older when every body starts to spread.)

I’d rather she just went back to picking on liberals and Democrats.

To quote Coulter from one of her own books, “Good Dog!”

Ann Coulter is a crony neocon journalist, in the Karl Rove and GWBush camp, who absolutely loves the crony capitalist Republican Party RINO political establishemnt, of Chris Christie and Mitt Romney.. She can’t have help it.. Just like Mathews can’t hlp getting a thrill up his leg for Obama.

She is now with RCP, Politico, TPM, NY Times, Wash Post, MSNBC, etc, to ensure that Romney, if not Christie, get the Republican Party Nomination, so they can continues their tradition of corrupt crony politics as usual..

This is why they fear and hate Newt, almost as much as they did Sarah Palin..

When are are Republicans going to figure out that all nine candidates are better than the current President? The name of the game is to pick the best one, not do the opposition research for the Obama Campaign.

I believe that the first real problem is that the race begins way too early. But how do you stop it?
The next real problem is that we speak ill of each other in violation of the late President Reagan’s admonition to the contrary.

My question is, does any mature, thinking person still listen to pundits these days, regardless of side? I’m finding that people are forming their own opinion and that most of what just comes from pundits is … just, well, wind!
