Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced a major policy shift on Monday by declaring that the United States no longer considers Israeli 'settlements' to be illegal under the international law. The statement reverses the U.S. State Department's long-held policy that regarded Israeli 'settlements' in the region of Judea and Samaria, also referred to as the West Bank, "inconsistent with international law."

Anti-regime protests erupted across Iran after the regime imposed rationing of gasoline and hiked fuel prices. People took to streets in more than 100 cities, including the Iranian capital of Tehran. Iran's so-called Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei lashed out at the people on Sunday for protesting the three-fold fuel price rise, calling them "thugs" and "hooligans."

The Iranian economy could shrink by 9.5 percent in 2019 amid tighter U.S. sanctions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts. The economic projection comes a month after President Donald Trump ordered the Treasury Department to "substantially increase" sanctions on Tehran.

President Donald Trump received major backlash on Monday morning after the White House announced late Sunday night it will remove troops in northern Syria. This will allow Turkey to start its offensive, effectively leaving the Kurds unprotected. Officials told Fox News that Trump's decision "completely blindsided" those at the Pentagon. Others said the move betrayed the Kurds because Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not hide his hatred of the Kurds.

News has come out that North Korea launched at least two unidentified projectiles toward the sea on Tuesday. This action comes hours after the nation's officials offered to resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States.
The North's projectile launches and demand for new proposals were apparently aimed at pressuring the United States to make concessions when the North Korea-U.S. talks restart. North Korea is widely believed to want the United States to provide it with security guarantees and extensive relief from U.S.-led sanctions in return for limited denuclearization steps.

The U.S. Ambassador to Berlin, Richard Grenell, has urged Germany to ban the Islamist terror organization Hezbollah from the country. Writing in the German newspaper Die Welt, the envoy called on Chancellor Angela Merkel's government to outlaw the Iran-backed terrorist group that has been "murdering innocent people from Lebanon to Syria, Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain and Argentina" for 37 years.

The European Union expects the United Kingdom to pay a £39 billion ($48 billion) 'divorce bill' even in the case of a no-deal Brexit. The refusal to pay the amount could hurt the UK's prospects of entering into a trade agreement with the remaining 27 member state of the bloc. The UK is set to leave the EU on October 31.

Ahead of his European trip, President Donald Trump has supported British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he tries to negotiate a withdrawal agreement with the European Union. "That’s a very tough bargain they are driving, the European Union. We are going to see if we can work something out," President Trump said on Wednesday. The U.S. President will be in France this weekend to attend the annual Group of Seven (G-7) summit.
