British lawmakers and government officials have been told not to use the video conferencing platform Zoom due to concerns over Chinese surveillance, the London-based newspaper Guardian reported on Friday. The UK intelligence agency, Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), cautioned them against using the web-based service for official or confidential matters -- especially if they relate to China. The top British Intelligence service specifically warned the senior Members of Parliament "not use it to talk about things detrimental to the interests of China," the daily added.

Queen Elizabeth II just gave a pre-recorded address to Britain, which of course was broadcast around the world. As you would expect, the Queen displayed that famous English stiff upper lip and sense of understatement, much as she did during World War II. It was only her fourth such speech since assuming the throne on February 6, 1952.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced nationwide lockdown measures late Friday as British health authorities registered a spike in Wuhan Coronavirus deaths. UK's National Health Service (NHS) reported 40 Coronavirus related deaths on Friday, the biggest single day jump yet, taking the overall death toll to 177.

A summit of top European Union leaders failed on Friday after German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other heads of government left the conference without an agreement on how to fill the hole created in the bloc's budget by Britain's exit. The leaders of 27 EU member states had gathered in Brussels to finalize the trillion-dollar-budget for the next seven years.

The London High Court has ruled a police investigation into allegedly "transphobic" tweets unlawful. The presiding judge, Justice Julian Knowles, likened the police methods used in the case to that of the Soviet secret police Cheka and the Nazi Gestapo. The police action amounted to a "disproportionate interference" with the freedom of speech, the court found on Friday.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal is set to become law after both houses of parliament approved the EU Withdrawal Agreement on Wednesday. The bill was cleared 342 to 254 in the Lower House after legislators rejected all amendments suggested by the House of Lords, including guarantees for accepting minor migrants from the continent.

Boris Johnson's sweeping win in the British elections (via his Conservative Party) was an enormous body blow not just to the socialists, but to the anti-Israel movement. Their hopes and dreams of destroying Israel rested on wrestling control of a major western democracy, and Britain was their best shot.

In one of the most important votes in the British parliament's history, the newly elected lawmakers have resoundingly approved Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Brexit deal. The Withdrawal Agreement Bill passed in the Lower House by 358 votes to 234.
