Tuffy wasn’t a mean clown, unlike those barrycading WWII Vets
Tuffy never tuffycaded anyone.
Remember Tuffy the Rodeo Clown?
Who earned the ire of Democratic politicians and a lifetime ban from the Missouri State Fair because he wore an Obama mask?
Tuffy never told other clowns to “make life as difficult for people as we can.”
Tuffy never tried to stop aging WWII Veterans from making pilgrimage to pay their respects to fallen comrades.
Tuffy never tuffycaded anyone.
Tuffy wasn’t a mean clown.
Tuffy just poked fun at a politician.
Here’s the meme I wrote at the time in mid-August, it certainly still seems to apply.

Look at the color scheme of that picture.
Reminds me of a recent political poster that inspired mass delusion.
Next you’ll be saying, “Tuffy was never an Obama plant.”
I dunno. Hard to trust a clown. Especially a straight, white, male clown.
In all seriousness, Tuffy has a Facebook support page everyone should join.
LukeHandCool (who loves the Simpsons episode when Krusty the Clown goes missing and the local TV news does a feature on Krusty’s life since childhood. It’s revealed that Krusty is Jewish and Homer, in complete disbelief upon hearing this, laughs out loud, “A Jew in entertainment?!?! Hahaha!!”)

With all due respect, Professor, That anonymous ranger’s claim was severely misquoted out of context, according to my own cousin, who is a Park Ranger.
I do hope we can get past continuing to use “Anonymous” gotcha quotes out of context to further a particular narrative, be it on the right or the left.
With that said, what happened to Tuffy, and to our Vets more recently, is disturbing to say the least. I suspect that those in the administration, secretly desire to see the Tea Party lash out, in hopes of utilizing it as another crisis means to an end.
We are better than that. We are better than they are in respect to our reasons for our policy positions. Let us not incite violence, but rather incite peaceful disobedience to those who would impose tyranny.
With all due respect to your cousin, the attribution is accurate even if it was never stated explicitly. When you have a government UNDER CONTRACT that claims its landlord status as authority to breach the contract, and shut down a private business, the “difficult life” attitude is an apt description. When the government shuts down public venues that have never before been shut down, we have left reality and entered delusional nightmare. Except that we haven’t left – it’s a real delusional nightmare we are living.
Tell your cousin that his service is admirable and he owes NO allegiance to the SCOAMF in the WH. His allegiance is to the law and there is no law that authorizes what has been done to the American people as a political tactic.
“With all due respect, Professor, That anonymous ranger’s claim was severely misquoted out of context, according to my own cousin, who is a Park Ranger.”
I can’t claim to know what was said and how.
But actions speak louder than words, and, in this case, they say it all. We see what the commands are.
I don’t envy the park rangers right now. They are probably as disgusted as anyone at this Barrycading going on. But their jobs, not ours, are on the line, perhaps.
I think they should band together and refuse as a unified group.
LukeHandCool (who, years ago, passed the park ranger test with flying colors and was on the top of the list. But not a single person was taken from the list and it expired)
…and who is also, quite conveniently, anonymous.
BREAKING: Anonymous blog commenter says anonymous “Park Ranger” says other anonymous “Park Ranger” was taken out of context!
Based on something you claim your anonymous cousin said?
::raises eyebrow::
Her name is Heather Boothe. She is my cousin, and she is not an anonymous Ranger, and she would agree with me that the quote was taken out of context.

So, piss off with your “Anonymous” accusations.
You did not name your cousin in the comment to which I was responding. We were indeed, at that point, being asked to take the word of an anonymous park ranger against that of another anonymous park ranger.
So has your lovely cousin joined Obama’s “use your taxpayer-funded position of authority to hurt innocent Americans” campaign, or is she (hopefully) abstaining?
The National Parks Service has a reputation for over-reacting (based on previous government shutdowns).
Paul: Has your cousin betrayed his country, too?
Tuffy…like the vast majority of us in the land that Obama and his ilk despise…would not walk across the street/road to impose a burden on his neighbor.
And a lot of us would hurry to help our neighbors, come the need.
But not the haters of the Collective. They would and do rejoice in our sorrows.
Rags, you’re right.
Time and time again I’ve seen how elitist progressives love their socioeconomically lower fellow citizens … in theory only.
It’s a beautiful theory … but it takes place in a land where unicorns graze on vast field of four-leaf clovers.
In the real world, they don’t want to rub elbows with these people and they don’t want their kids going to school with their kids. They rationalize this with snarky witticisms that aren’t too clever … but are too, too revealing.
“Punitive liberalism” is the term and the impulse.
I goes with the delusion we are really BAD people for believing as we do in self-determination, individual responsibility, and liberty.
Imagine…
I love this but the title confused me in this internet age. I first read it as if the vets were the ones doing the barrycades as opposed to the meanines WHO were barrycading vets.
That happens to me when reading Twitter sometimes. The character limitation is nice, in that it ensures everyone stays pithy, but sometimes I have trouble parsing the tweets because of the left-out words &/or clauses.
It takes a little bit of mental exercise to get your brain to fill in the missing bits 🙂
It takes a lot of courage to do what Tuffy does.
But think about it.
Those Vets were running towards the angry bull.
And now the Obama administration is treating them like clowns.
Speaking of Barrycades, here’s another good meme doing the rounds on Twitter:
I like the #SpiteHouse hashtag too.
Charlie Chaplin also pissed off some great leader in his day by imitating him.
Here’s the actual e-mail exchange between my cousin and myself: (Email addresses redacted for privacy)
Hi Heather,
Thank goodness! I will let people in my circle of acquaintances know that it is mis-quoted. The irony of what I’m seeing though, is that Park Police outnumber park rangers these days =( Seems a bit heavy handed, especially concerning the Memorials. (Last Shutdown in 94 the Memorials were left untouched.)
I do hope you aren’t suffering too badly. This is a sad state of affairs, but I want you to read the Federalist Papers, #58, if you get the chance.
It seems pertinent to times like the present.
Love,
Paul

“Heather’s” politics are clear from her reply, therefore her denial doesn’t mean much. I don’t believe much that leftists say. Perhaps if we could hear it from the guy quoted?
Yes, her gratuitous snark against the GOP made her agenda pretty clear.
Yes, and she’s out of a job, and you are not. I’d be snarky too.
Regardless of her politics or not, I don’t know if she knows the Ranger personally, but she has assured me that there has been no “Top-Down” instruction on “Making life as difficult as possible for people”.
My point remains valid. We still don’t know the “Anonymous” ranger who said this to begin with. MY SOURCE (WHO IS NOT Anonymous) denies the claim. My POINT was that we should not further a narrative that cannot be substantiated.
In that, I am hopeful that the professor will agree.
No she’s not, unless she’s actually been fired. And since I know how hard it is to actually fire a Federal employee, if she’s actually been fired, there’s a pretty good chance it would have been for cause.
If she hasn’t been fired, but has just been told to go ahead and take a paid vacation at taxpayers’ expense, like all of the other non-essential Government employees who’ve been “furloughed”, then that’s something altogether different.
How is YOUR SOURCE in any position to deny a claim made by someone else, someone you admit she doesn’t even know the name of? It sounds like she read an anonymous message on the internet somewhere with some anonymous guy saying, “Yeah, I’m THAT anonymous guy, and I didn’t really mean what I said.”
Anyway, our choice is either to believe that our National Parks staff are basically good guys, being forced to do bad things by Team Obama, or that they’re actually jerks who get a kick out of victimizing innocent Americans in aid of the DNC. I had wanted to believe the former, but if you’re certain it’s actually the latter, we can go with that I guess.
Amy, your questions are straw man arguments.
The claim is not denying what the “Anonymous” ranger said or not. Being anonymous, we may never know who said it.
The claim is that the government directed the Park Service to “Make life as difficult as possible for people.” This is the claim, which my independent, NON Anonymous cousin has told me is utterly false.
My cousin said in denying the actual claim above, that the person who was misquoted was livid. That aspect may or may not be hearsay, but it is not salient to the issue of the primary claim, which has been furthered in the media that the government is being directed to make people’s lives more difficult.
We all know that government makes lives difficult enough already. I prefer to take the stance that our Park Rangers are good people, and were directed to “Close the parks”.
Furthermore, I’d like to point out a distinction between Park Rangers, and Park Police. They are not one and the same. It could be the original report messed up and spoke with a Park Policeman and mislabeled them as a Ranger.
Whether or not you choose to believe the claims or not (by either the anonymous source, or my cousin) is entirely up to you.
MY point, As it has always been from the beginning, is that “Anonymous” gotcha quotes should not be used to further a narrative.
This narrative is already weighty enough with other evidences, that we don’t need to add unsubstantiated claims to the mix.
And that’s based on a comment by an anonymous source your cousin read.
It would be nice to hear from the guy, wouldn’t it?
That is MY WHOLE POINT. This “Anonymnous” crap needs to stop.
So she apparently knows who this “anonymous ranger” is? Or has she read an anonymous comment somewhere from someone claiming to speak for the anonymous ranger the original remark is attributed to?
Amy, I don’t know if she knows this person personally or not. She may well know the person. My point remains valid.
My cousin is not an anonymous source, she is a Ranger who happens to head the volunteer services at Yosemite, and she has assured me that the claim that the administration has directed “Make life as difficult as possible for people” is UTTERLY FALSE.
I would trust my cousin more than any person making unsubstantiated claims.
We should not be furthering this narrative. There is enough evidence elsewhere, that we don’t have to add to it with unsubstantiated claims of anonymous sources. You think Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin would agree with this, wouldn’t you?
I would trust my cousin more than any person making unsubstantiated claims.
And that’s your problem, right there.
You’re trusting a leftist.
And you are trusting an “Anonymous” source which cannot be substantiated at all?
I at least know who I’m quoting. Do you?
You’re quoting a person who’s quoting an anonymous source.
You obviously are not picking up the inconsistency there. I give up.
Dear Paul, in the immortal words of John McClane: WELCOME TO THE PARTY PAL!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkyskI13KOs
We shouldn’t believe anyone making unsubstantiated claims, yet you’re demanding that we believe your cousin when she quotes an anonymous person who is making unsubstantiated claims?
OK.
Amy I’m not asking you to believe her quoting the anonymous source in such a manner.
I’m asking you to believe her denial of the purported claim that they (being the National Park Service) were told to “Make life as difficult as possible for the people.”
That she then remarked about the anonymous source (That he was livid about being misquoted) is not relevant to the primary claim.
She is in a position to know the directives of the National Park Service, just as would the “anonymous” ranger. But she is not anonymous.
I’m enjoying the LHCool & Rags exchanges immensely. Thanks, you two!! Imagine—it might take “chemical” help—the Infantile Majesty stepping into the Missouri fray and saying:”Listen up, y’all. The clown was having some FUN. Get over your self-serious selves,’Yo!!Now, put Tuffy back in the rodeo. Now.”
Yeah…I can see The Boy King doing that…Right..???
Obama is an amateur, unintelligent thug, so there’s no surprise with his low-class antics. The disturbing thing to me is the abundance of Americans who are on board with it.
