Senate Confirms Sen. Markwayne Mullin as DHS Secretary

Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) were the only Democrats to vote yes.

The Senate confirmed Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) as Department of Homeland Security secretary.

The final vote was 54-45.

Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) were the only Democrats to vote yes.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote no.

Sen. Reuben Gallego (D-AZ) did not vote.

President Donald Trump appointed Mullin to the top DHS post on March 5, after he ousted Kristi Noem following a few dismal weeks.

According to reports, Trump started to lose confidence in Noem after the chaos in Minneapolis with ICE and the border patrol.

I mean, Trump sent in Border Czar Tom Homan, and he achieved peace in about two weeks!

But it appears the final straw came during a Senate hearing, when Noem told Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) that he had approved a contract connected to those in her inner circle.

Of course the cartel Senator didn’t vote….

Idiot lolbertarian Rand Paul hardest hit.

This should be grounds to remove the moron as head of the committee.

He was utterly unprofessional and spent the entire time whining that Mullin said mean things about him 10 years ago.

A lot of the time Rand Paul is on target. Sometimes not.
This made him look small and petty. Which he probably is.

Rand Paul’s libertarian-tinged conservatism used to be interesting and seemingly principled. Lately, though, he’s coming across as exceptionally petty, vindictive and narcissistic.

For example, at Mullin’s confirmation hearing, Paul blocked a fellow Senator from introducing Mullin. What the hell is the purpose of that kind of stunt? It’s utterly infantile, vindictive and disrespectful.

      No he’s not

I thought Paul really strayed from his job overseeing the committee and into a personal vendetta. It sure wasn’t a good look.

And Oklahoma gov installs a RINO in Senate? Have to wait and see…

The big surprise was Marty Heinrich voting yes. Proggies in New Mexico are LIVID.

Is he up for re-election? maybe the illegals in new mexico are heading home. can they take
    mail in ballots with them?

The vote was a done deal. Their votes were pointless.

Any Democrat that voted for him was because The Party gave them PERMISSION to vote for him to try and con the rubes for another election cycle.

Make no mistake, none of them would have been vote #50 in his favor.

I don’t have confidence in Mullin. His challenges to fight people aren’t sincere. Just a show. Something is off with him. Plus, you know he doesn’t favor mass repatriations.

Well, the Communists don’t like him. That recommends him right there

Off topic: Zohran Mamdani has announced that ICE doesn’t belong at our airports. It’s worth remembering that not only does he have no authority over ICE, he also has no authority over NYC airports. The airports are run by the Port Authority, which answers only to the governors of NY and NJ, and does not answer to the mayor of NYC.
