Report: DOJ Launches Grand Jury Probe Into Alleged Obama-Era Trump-Russia Plot

“The spokesperson said Bondi believed there is ‘clear cause for deep concern’ and a need for next steps.”

Fox News reported that Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered her staff to launch a grand jury regarding the alleged conspiracy to tie then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to Russia in 2016.

From the report:

Bondi personally ordered an unnamed federal prosecutor to initiate legal proceedings and the prosecutor is expected to present department evidence to a grand jury, which would allow the department to secure a potential indictment, according to a letter from Bondi reviewed by Fox News Digital and a source familiar with the investigation.

A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment on the report of an investigation but said Bondi is taking the referral from Gabbard “very seriously.” The spokesperson said Bondi believed there is “clear cause for deep concern” and a need for next steps.

I have not seen confirmation from Bondi, the DOJ, or Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

The DOJ confirmed it received the criminal referral from Gabbard two weeks ago.

The criminal referral stems from the 114-page report Gabbard released on July 18. It alleges people at the top, including former President Barack Obama, had a hand in the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy.

Trump accused Obama and his “gang” of treason.

Obama shot back, but Gabbard then released a 2020 House Intelligence Committee report that showed the intelligence community had no evidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to help Trump win in 2016. Still, the intelligence community published the “evidence” on Obama’s orders.

Lots of hearings, lots of bloviating, lots of new stories.

The result: nobody goes to jail and nothing will happen.

Precisely. And every time they play this game, they lose more credibility and respect. At this point, I am rapidly losing any respect for the entire concept of “government”.

I am not getting excited till someone is indicted. I want to see Comey, Clapper, Brennan, and the rest of them arrested and frog marched to get processed.

I believe you will have a long wait.

      diver64 in reply to EBL. | August 5, 2025 at 6:35 am

Indicted for what, putting out bad information? I doubt anyone will be indicted except for a couple, maybe, like Brennan for lying under oath during a Congressional hearing

If there’s a grand jury then at least someone may go on trial. It may not be possible, but this is the only way to try.

While I would like to see them all rot in jail, I’m not sure what they can be charged with, except maybe conspiracy to defraud. Do you have any ideas?

Nope. But I’m glad there’s at least an attempt. It may turn out that there are no possible charges, and if that’s the case then oh well.

          diver64 in reply to Milhouse. | August 5, 2025 at 6:39 am

Brennan for lying to Congress? There may be a treason case against the entire crew including Obama if it can be proved Putin wanted Hillary to win and Obama sure tried his best but that will be a tough one unless something has tapes of people in his administration on the phone with Putin’s people.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | August 5, 2025 at 8:42 am

There is no treason case, even if it 0bama had outright colluded with Putin. Which of course he didn’t do, any more than Trump did. We now know that Putin had no horse in the race, and was not trying to help anyone win. But even supposing that he supported Clinton, and even supposing 0bama personally got on the phone with him and planned the whole thing out, it still wouldn’t be treason, because 0bama would not have been motivated by adherence to Putin’s cause. He would merely have been taking advantage of that cause to advance his own agenda and that of his party, and that is not treason.

I doubt there is much of a criminal case to be made against anyone. But if there is, then a grand jury is needed in order to find it. So I’m glad there is one. If there’s something to be found, they’re the only ones who can find it.

@The Gentle Grizzly. Exactly 100% right, especially if the jury is in DC or NY. We’ll know if Bondi is serious if the jury is impaneled in a red city. Well. ok. A red state.

      Milhouse in reply to Titan28. | August 5, 2025 at 3:12 am

And how would that be possible, pray tell? Where but DC could it possibly be located? Or are you under the impression that federal cases can be brought anywhere the prosecutors like?

Sultan in reply to Milhouse. | August 5, 2025 at 10:00 am

The grand jury could be impanelled in SD FL where the raid on Mar-a-lago took place. It was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.
Anywhere such an act took place could be a proper venue. I have no evidence for it but I have a gut feel that the shots in Butler PA were also overt acts in furtherance of the conspiracy. We have a lot still to learn.

Show me the cards.

Let’s hope these documents don’t also disappear from Blondi’s desktop.

“Still, the intelligence community published the “evidence” on Obama’s orders.” Offer to make Obama an unindicted coconspirator (his acttons may be unprosecutagle anyhow) so he loses his 5th Amendment protection.

Of course, any perjury he commits now is prosecutable.

I thought everything about a grand jury was supposed to be secret. This seems to be a well publicized secret to me.

Milhouse in reply to mrtomsr. | August 4, 2025 at 8:50 pm

There’s no requirement that the existence of a grand jury must be secret. It can be, but it doesn’t have to be.

Let them all be forced to lawyer up and spend some of their ill gotten millions. Drag it out and out and out and out with the lawyer’s clocks running..

Wild idea to re-appoint Durham unleashed, with his institutional knowledge, and include dirty Jack Smith. No doubt that Garland got in the way. In any even, show these wrongdoers that they are not immune from having to face the music, directly and indirectly, including all those that perpetuated the un-Americanism.

Big question

Is this serious?

A media blitz allows the defense attorney to try and disqualify based on media followed.

If there is any intent on gaining a conviction the jury can’t consist of New York Times readers and the Bread Tube audience.

Here we go with another nothing burger because no one will be held accountable.

Blah, blah, blah.

Asking for a friend …

Was there ever an investigation into who removed the “W” keys from all of the computers in the White House before Bush 43 became POTUS ?

Milhouse in reply to Neo. | August 5, 2025 at 8:59 am

Yes, there was an investigation. The total damage was about $15,000, but no conclusion could be drawn about whether the vandalism was worse in 2001 than in previous transitions. No individual vandal was identified.

MoeHowardwasright | August 5, 2025 at 9:52 am

The raid on Mar A Lago is part of the conspiracy. I’ve predicted previously that it would lead to a Grand Jury being empaneled in Florida. Once a conspiracy is confirmed the Feds have the option of using. Grand Jury in any place that the conspiracy took place. Hence Florida. I still think that Obama will be named as a un-indicted co-conspirator. This allows President Trump to pardon Obama. It forever stains Obama’s legacy and ties him to President Nixon. Notice also that there has been no leaks from the Strike Force. That is a very good sign.

    Moe:
As I said above (before I read your post) you are correct that it could be impanelled in SDFL. I think it could also be impanelled in the EDVa since that is where the CIA is located and where Brennan did his dirty work. EDVa is not ideal because of the far-left jury pool but there are much better/honest judges there.

While prosecutions would be great the fact that the D’s now have to spend money and time defending the brand is time and money not used anyplace else. Eventually the media will have to report it even if it’s to put a spin on it which is less time for them also. The whole time the R’s get to keep pushing the “no one is above the law” mantra back down the D’s throat. Subpoena “all” communications for everyone involved and anyone they talked to. This is a chance to smoke out a lot of the DC scum

Alex deWynter | August 5, 2025 at 10:06 am

My reaction to this is the same as to all the Epstein yammering. Get back to me when there are actual indictments.
