Report: Nikki Haley Will Announce 2024 Presidential Campaign on Feb. 15
“Haley has teased at running for the White House for months, increasing her footprint on social media and in national interviews that she was leaning toward an official bid.”
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will announce her 2024 Republican presidential campaign on February 15, according to someone within her “inner circle.”
From The Post and Courier:
According to an invitation soon going out to her backers, Haley’s advertised “special announcement” will come Feb. 15 at the The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center, a downtown gathering spot that could draw hundreds of supporters into the heart of the city’s tourism district.
The confirmation she is entering the race came Jan. 31 from a member of Haley’s inner circle.
Haley has teased at running for the White House for months, increasing her footprint on social media and in national interviews that she was leaning toward an official bid.
Haley has dropped those teasers in many places:
“It’s time for a new generation,” she telegraphed on Twitter in recent days. “It’s time for new leadership. And it’s time to take our country back. America is worth the fight — and we’re just getting started.”
During an interview on Fox News with Bret Baier last week, Haley signaled her clearest indication yet that she was readying a White House bid.
“When you’re looking at a run for president, you look at two things. You first look at does the current situation push for new leadership? The second question is, ‘Am I that person that could be that new leader?’”
Haley said she wouldn’t run if President Donald Trump ran in 2024. He announced his campaign last year.

Her running would most likely benefit Trump because to put things in perspective
1. When did she leave the governors mansion?
2. When did she leave her post as ambassador?
3. Is she relevant today for anyone?
4. Did she actually achieve anything?
For her to be running and getting press attention would encourage others to run who have no chance.
Yay Niiki, Hip Hip Hooray❗️
No, she did not achieve anything. And there were times she could have stood up but she didn’t.
There is always an element of ‘what have you done for me lately’ in National politics. This is one reason the DeSantis must wait until 2028 and be the shoe in arguments are flawed. He would be two years out of office. Likely facing Youngkin would would still be a sitting Gov with opportunities to keep his name in the news.
Youngkin will be popular. He’s not a bomb thrower. He’s just trying to keep the weirdos away from the kids which isn’t objectionable to most people apart from grievance grifters, media and the ED cabal.
If a Republican other than DeSantis wins in 2024, DeSantis would be looking not at 2028 but at 2032. So when his current term expires in 2026 he could go for another one, or the president could appoint him to a cabinet slot. There’s no senate election scheduled for 2026, but you never know when a vacancy might be created; and if he does go for a third term as governor then there would be a senate opening in 2030 if he wants it.
In any case, if he ends his term as governor in early 2027 and unofficially starts running for president immediately, the problem you raise isn’t there. He’s fresh in the memory, and the fact that he has no day job would mean he could be a full-time candidate, as opposed to Youngkin who would still have a state to run.
Florida governors can only serve for two consecutive terms, so he cannot run for a third back-to-back term.
The only declared candidate for 2024 as of today is Trump and he would be unable to run in 2028. As Fuzzy mentioned FL doesn’t allow a third consecutive term, most Southern States don’t FWIW.
In the Senate Rubio will face re-election in 2028 or perhaps launch his own Presidential bid. Second time the charm? Scott’s term expires in 2024 but if reelected that term would expire in 2030. Scott has been making his own waves, as former FL Gov and Senator he may have ambitions Presidential for 2028 as well. Personally I think Scott seeks reelection in the Senate in both ’24 and ’30 but who knows.
Not holding office in ’27 would put DeSantis in the unenviable position where Trump is now; on the backburner making statements about the news the sitting Gov or Senators generate. Reacting to headlines v making them.
Who was the last cabinet secretary to be elected President? Papa Bush was head of the CIA under Ford but was also a sitting VP upon election so that one doesn’t really count. The only other person I can think of since the end of the First World War is Hoover. Cabinet Sec isn’t a pathway to the Presidency or at least doesn’t seem to have been in a long time.
I liked her as Ambassador to the UN. Beyond that, I’m not sure how much. The fence can only seat just so many R candidates.
Won’t have my vote. The “can’t we all just be nice” crowd has got to go. The destruction of the Democrat Reich requires fighters. She’s not one as far as I can tell.
Agreed. It’s hard to fight while sitting on the fence.
Here come the RINOs.
Yes, she was such a RINO that Donald Trump appointed her to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Trump even encouraged her to run for president.
Which tends to make the argument that he doesn’t consider her a serious candidate.
Hm
After the last two elections no one runs for president anymore. The president is installed by harvested mail-in ballots.
Whoever the Democrats nominate at the convention next year is who will be sworn in January 2025, unless Republicans get into the ballot printing game.
So the first loser has already announced if she said she going to announce on the 15th.
She would be best suited as a rump party candidate from what I hear.
who ?
“It’s time for a new generation.”
Well, Nikki, get out of the way.
The liberal loons are eating our lunch while we argue over purity tests……
I’ll be marvelling at your principled stand while being frog-marched into the gas chamber.
“Haley said she wouldn’t run if President Donald Trump ran in 2024. He announced his campaign last year.”
So right off the bat, you as a voter know she’ll never lie to you or backstab you.
She … is an insincere narcissist, who CANNOT BE TRUSTED !!!
Another one from The Feckless R’s who’d be better than literally every pseudo-declared candidate-ish The Screaming D’s have floated.
The useful move would be to fight hard but clean for the positions on the team, then play together so you win. Current state US electoral politics is a team sport. I wonder whether The Feckless R’s will finally figure out this simple fact The Screaming D’s have been working for over a century.
No thanks. She said she wouldn’t run if Trump did and now changed her mind. She should never have said that in the first place or honor her word.
She knows she’ll be the media’s darling until the end of primary season. The media will be desperate to paint anybody other than Trump and DeSantis as the Republican front-runner, and they will push her to the left with their endorsement as carrot.
Not sure where she got the idea that a) she’s qualified to be President and b) that anyone really wants her to be President. She’ll go the way of Kamala’s campaign – zero interest, early dropout. But she definitely won’t end up being Vice-Resident.
Hey Nikki, go away!
Another one who believes she has anything to offer America.
When people like her and the ex-governor of Maryland declare their candidacy, it makes you wonder what they are thinking. Haley is known but not for doing anything important, just being in the news. Hogan is a Democrat with an “R” behind his name and has zero chance of winning the base of the Republican party. The RINO Asa Hutchison has also hinted that he too will run. He is so far to the center that he also has no chance of getting the R base behind him. These three are the “Can’t we all get along” crowd after Pelosi’s reign! She stepped in the face of every attempt to work across the aisle and vilified anyone who opposed her. We need someone with a backbone of steel and who isn’t so thin-skinned that half of their time is spent responding to amateurish reporter’s gotcha questions. Any “R” candidate must know that if they win the msm will turn everything they say or do into a negative as opposed to turning everything Biden says that is stupid or a lie into a positive. Trump does not have the ability to shut up when he needs to and doesn’t seem to get that the reporter’s questions are not designed to get information but to make him look bad. “When did you stop beating your wife” is like their questions and there is no good answer. Trump would jump in and try to answer a question like that and provide fodder for all of the msm evening news. I don’t think the Republican candidate who will win the nomination has entered the race yet.
