Journalist Sam Stein Tries to Rescue Sen. Markey After Trying to Fight Musk, Who Didn’t Take the Bait
“Are we Russia or China, Sam?”
I am not of the Elon Musk worship clan. He’s not a savior or anything like that, but like President Donald Trump, he can break people just by being.
Musk triggers people just for existing, which helps expose a person’s true intentions and personality.
The whole fiasco over check-marked and verified accounts brought out the mob, including Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA). He wasted his time and a Washington Post reporter’s time by making said reporter develop a fake account, impersonating him, getting verified, etc.
Markey boasted about it because he lacks self-awareness, demanding answers and blah blah from Musk.
A @washingtonpost reporter was able to create a verified account impersonating me—I’m asking for answers from @elonmusk who is putting profits over people and his debt over stopping disinformation. Twitter must explain how this happened and how to prevent it from happening again. pic.twitter.com/R4r7p6mduP
— Ed Markey (@SenMarkey) November 11, 2022
You know, he could have just reported it to Twitter, but that doesn’t give Markey the attention he craves from others. In fact:
Why is no one asking why the Washington Post reporter colluded with you to create false accounts and make Twitter look bad?
— Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) November 13, 2022
Who was the Washington Post reporter who committed the identity fraud on Twitter?
— Andy Ngô 🏳️🌈 (@MrAndyNgo) November 13, 2022
Well, Musk snarked back.
Perhaps it is because your real account sounds like a parody?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 13, 2022
Markey, who, I guess, is not used to people mocking him, used the government to attack a private citizen.
Excuse me?
One of your companies is under an FTC consent decree. Auto safety watchdog NHTSA is investigating another for killing people. And you’re spending your time picking fights online. Fix your companies. Or Congress will. https://t.co/lE178gPRoM
— Ed Markey (@SenMarkey) November 13, 2022
If that doesn’t scare you, then I don’t know what would.
If Congress can go after Elon Musk, they sure as heck can go after you and me. And we don’t have Musk’s lawyers.
Then here comes Politico White House Editor and MSNBC talking head Sam Stein backing Markey against Musk.
Always risky to attack members of congress. Especially risky with Dems assured of Senate power. Curious play by Musk here. He has many interests before Congress https://t.co/XxEtm6NuBq
— Sam Stein (@samstein) November 13, 2022
Always risky…hmmm…did Stein forget how to do his job? Also, Musk didn’t attack Markey. He snarked and made fun of his Twitter account.
Don’t go through my tweets, Sam!
We all know politicians hunger for power, and the establishment media carries water for the Democrats.
But Musk and Trump made them break any facade they had to expose their true selves.
Now we have receipts proving Markey doesn’t care about his job or his constituents, and Stein finds it “risky” to be anything but agreeable to members of Congress.
@samstein shows publicly how it works. Kiss the ring and bow to the establishment or you’ll be punished. Sam, keep exposing the corruption you seem to relish in and enjoy. The days of “power” will wind down & return to representation. #Corruption https://t.co/zm0CDXefG3 pic.twitter.com/p1zdnkCLNE

This is amazing. Corporate media hacks are very excited for @EdMarkey to take revenge on @elonmusk, a private citizen and taxpayer who didn't properly bend the knee to their ally in the Senate. https://t.co/doKWIuJjvv
— Gerry Callahan (@GerryCallahan) November 14, 2022
No it's not, Sam. They work for the people. They're not special or any better than the rest of us. Sick and tired of politicians and people thinking said politicians are untouchable and sooooo freaking great and magical. https://t.co/93YSFVSlOm

The media is taking Markey’s side.
This is odd because the media didn’t have a problem when people snarked at Trump.
The Daily Beast’s AJ McDougall said, “Elon Musk just picked on the wrong lawmaker.”

Corrected the headline for accuracy.
ALL in Congress need mocking, pointing-at, and heckled. They see themselves as royalty and need kicking down many rungs.
Fur shure big bear.
All politicians in fact. Every one of them seeks power and we would be wise to always remember that those who do so can’t be fully trusted.
Mel Brooks made that point as did Will Rogers… making these “leaders” the butt of jokes is a good way to diminish them. Brooks with Hitler and Rogers with Congress.
Not to mention Governor Le Petomaine.
We’ve got to protect our phony baloney jobs, gentlemen!
I’ll put up with his phony baloney job if I can have his secretary.
Did I get a harumph outta you?
Harumph!
It is getting more and more like the only service our “public servants” provide is remarkably similar to the service the bull provides the cow.
And I wish people would get this right: for Dems from MA, the political affiliation is “DuMbAss.”
Those missing letters are very important, particularly for MA’s most unremarkable Senators (a low bar indeed), who, according to pundit (why not?) Howie Carr, “Sen. Markey is also known as Mr. Frosty, from his one and only private sector job, as an ice-cream truck driver,…”
Markey is just that dim that he says out loud that which should only be whispered. This is the highlight of Markey’s most “unremarkeyable” 38 years in the Senate (with 8 years as a Rep prior to that).
Can you say “term limits?”
Another day, another 50 cents after tax.
People have a tendency to take Twitter far too seriously.
Some people have a tendency to take Senators far too seriously.
Elon Musk walks and talks and laughs like what he is: a really good engineer.
That a US Senator would dare threaten a person like this over a minor tweak in a Tweet tells me that Sen. Markey is unworthy of his high public office, at least for today.
That our news media is trying to turn this stupid threat into some kind of reality tells me that our media has all the depth of an oil slick in a rain puddle. People who have no better judgment than to try to turn this minor non-event into news probably are not capable of figuring what’s important to me and the rest of the voters. This is why they don’t get my ear, nor my eyes, unless somebody else is choosing the channel.
I recently learned, like yesterday, that Musk suffers from Aspergers’ Syndrome. He is brilliant with numbers and problem solving but socially awkward.
Unlike Markey who is bad with numbers and problem solving.
And yet, the man knows how to win the Internet like nobody else.
Ya, I can see elements of Tony Stark as played by Robert Downey, Jr. in him.
I think that Sen. Markey should consider how much damage someone like Musk could do to his career. Over all, politicians are well known to be a lower form of life, not all of them, but surely Sen. Markey has shown himself to be such.
Gosh, Musk stand and fights.
If only there was a guy in politics that would fight back without getting thrown under the bus…
Unfortunately, getting hit and run over by the bus produces the same results.
Are you erroneously assuming that the government is not interested in (controlling) Mr. Musk?
That was meant for “whitewall” below. Sorry.
Why should the parasite class be exempt from the rule the write for the rest of us?
Because the parasites get to write the rules. Everything they impose on us should apply to them, including Social Security and Medicare, but nooooooo, they get special coverage because they are the self appointed “elites.”
Musk really needs to stick to space and cars and not politics. We are in a dangerous time politically with the Dem party becoming more like the CCP.
“The Dems are becoming more like the CCP; therefore, Musk should desist from exposing their hypocrisy and authoritarian tendencies.” ¿?
Elon can make Twitter work as he envisions it and by doing THAT it will do the talking to arrogant Senators like Markey instead of Elon. Succeed with Twitter first. The pols will keep.
And on this subject… today’s relevant cartoon arc (1, 2).
Plus a good chance of another one after 9:30 ET tonight.
Maybe Senators should not be using their political office to make others afraid to use their freedom of speech.
I see. Ignore the totalitarians until they become full-on nazis … great idea.
The same could be said for Sen. Markey, he should know better that to jab a business man with deep pockets and connections.
Too. Bloomin’. Late.
He has bought Twitter and said he’s going to try to make it a place that does not censor based on political opinion. That, in itself, is a highly-charged political statement, in today’s current climate.
And yet, his analysis is flawless: this country needs a place for a Committee of Correspondence that can handle a robust political discussion.
Senator: DO WHAT I FUCKING SAY OR WE WILL RUIN YOUR COMPANY THROUGH THE ADMINISTRATIVE STATE.
We The People: Maybe it is time to take away the power of ordinary people who get 2.3 million idiots in MassHole to put them in the Senate so he can LORD over 300+ million other ordinary people.
Nice company you got there Elon. It would be a shame if something happened to it.
s/ordinary/mediocre/w
The abject failure of those in power to shut down the Fauchi Fascists and the Branch Covidians instead of enabling them allowed the Karens to run wild. They fully revealed their totalitarian impulses and came to relish the taste of forcing Citizens to do their bidding.
Across the Nation only a very few leaders stood firm in rejecting the contrived crisis and told the totalitarians to pound sand. The failure of leadership by the rest of our political class emboldened the would be tyrants to seek other ways to impose their wishes and to not only silence dissenting voices but to destroy them.
Like some wild animal that gets a taste for human blood, Democrats (and some Republicans, to be sure) get a taste for power and money, and can’t revert.
Term limits.
As much as I would prefer some sort of term limit the moment has passed for now. We have much bigger fish to fry in the immediate future.
Perhaps once we have defeated the trans ideology, fixed the govt debt, restored energy independence, built the wall, ramped up interior immigration enforcement, enacted meaningful school choice.
These incidents are useful inasmuch as they demonstrate not just the contemptible and embarrassing slavishness and obsequiousness of the water-carrying media lapdogs/lackeys/propagandists, but, also, how intrinsically and obnoxiously totalitarian their political ethos is.
And, of course, the media twits’ total lack of self-awareness, with regard to how appallingly feckless and corrupt their toady act in perennially sucking up to Dumb-o-crat apparatchiks, and, parroting their narrative like trained seals, appears to rational minds.
Ed Markey is one of THE truly dimmest bulbs in the Senate. He’s perfect for the job, because he is completely ineffective. If only our other Senator, Big Chief Warren were as impotent as Markey.
Exactly. Markey has always been a hard Leftist and a dolt.
I’m not sure which order to put those in, but I’m also not sure it matters.
It’s redundant anyway….
Stein’s stupid musings are also funny, because the Dumb-o-crat media “journalists” love to portray themselves as allegedly “speaking truth to power,” shining knights on a crusade to slay the dragon, in the mold of Leftist media heroes Woodward and Bernstein, yet, in any incident in which these media twits actually are presented with a true opportunity to speak truth to power and go against the grain, e.g., with regard to the Russia Collusion hoax; the Wuhan Virus creation and “vaccines,” etc., they predictably and dutifully adhere to and parrot the Dumb-o-crat Party line and talking points, never risking anything or speaking out of turn or ruffling feathers.
That’s how utterly feckless and useless these hypocritical narcissists are.
Twitter should thank Markey for reporting the fraud, then permanently ban the WaPo reporter from Twitter. Maybe report him to the FBI for investigation of identity theft.
Nice company you have there. Would be a shame if some Fang-Banger Nuked it.
Sorry, I get my extortionate threats from the Feds interwingled, sometimes.
Whoa! I think Sam Stein pointed it out (‘though he certainly didn’t mean to)
If Markey can utilize his (elected by the people) position to attack individuals and “set the dogs on them”, then my country, the United States of America is in deep shit!
It sounds like Stalin would be proud of Malarkey and this urinalist.
Or, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, “Papa Doc” Duvalier, Ayatollah Khomeini, et al. There are plenty of totalitarian thugs from despotic regimes large and small to use as ideological inspiration, where the vile Dumb-o-crats are concerned.
Strange how those authoritarian hack Dem politicians had no problem with Twitter when it “played ball” but now are threatening a private company with the full weight of government. Almost like Markey thinks Twitter is an essential service and so should not be in the business of censoring anyone much like a public utility.
The alacrity with which the Dumb-o-crats, their media lackeys/lapdogs and their corporate allies turned on on Twitter the minute that Musk closed on his acquisition, approaches light speed. Appalling and fascinating to witness. They can rationalize their boycotting machinations and vilification all they want, but, to rational minds it comes across as nothing more than an infantile and petulant tantrum/histrionics at losing control of an influential and decidedly biased media platform.
It wasn’t just Twitter: it was Tesla, and it wasn’t on just one platform. It’s not the full-court press like they (still) use for the campaign of slander against Trump, but it’s there.
They were threatening n throwing brush-back pitches as soon as he got semi-serious about the purchase.
Nice work, Ms. Chastain!
So a reporter commits identity fraud against Twitter and the idiot Senator gets mad at the company owner…
What utter horseshit. And they call Republicans Fascists.
Am I the only one who reads his name as Sam Malarkey?? It just seems to fit better!
