Liberal Media Starts to Notice Democrats Have a Hispanic Voter Problem

We have documented the genuine flight of Hispanic voters from the Democratic party to the GOP. It was recently observable in Texas, along the border of all places.
Now some people in the liberal media are starting to take note of this phenomenon.
Marc Caputo of NBC News seems to be trying to downplay the issue with this headline:
Poll: Hispanics aren’t flocking to the GOP, but Democrats still have problems
Heading into the 2022 midterm elections, Republicans have been riding a wave of positive press about their gains among Hispanic voters as Democrats fret about hemorrhaging support from the fast-growing demographic.
But while Democrats clearly have a problem, the GOP’s growing support among Latinos is less dramatic than some headlines suggest, according to a new poll conducted by a top Latino Democratic pollster and underwritten by a conservative Spanish-language network.
About 48 percent of Hispanics nationwide consider themselves Democrats, and only 23 percent identify as Republican, the poll found. Hispanic voters give President Joe Biden a positive job-approval rating, 48 percent to 29 percent, in contrast to disapproval of 54 percent to 44 percent among registered voters overall in the most recent NBC News poll.

Such potential party-switchers are mainly becoming independents or third-party voters — and they also tend to line up more with Republicans on some issues.
Overall, Hispanic voters are more likely than not to think the country is moving in the wrong direction, by a margin of 5 percentage points, according to the poll.

More Hispanic Democrats than Hispanic Republicans are considering leaving their party “by a double-digit margin.”
Those who are leaving often become independents or ally with third parties, trends show, although many demonstrate strong alignment with Republicans on some controversial issues.
Overall, 48 percent of American Hispanics identify as Democrats, while 23 percent identify as Republicans.
President Biden was given a 48 percent approval rating by Hispanics, compared to 29 percent disapproval.
“The results showed good news, but not great news, for the Republican Party and conservative candidates,” said Jorge Arrizurieta, the president of the Americano network, according to NBC News.
“We confirmed what we thought might be true: Hispanic voters are moving toward the center-right, but continuing this trend will require engagement by the party and its candidates,” wrote Arrizurieta in a statement. “Republicans must show up in the Hispanic community.”
That last quote from Mr. Arrizurieta is correct. Republicans cannot take these new voters for granted and must reach out to them. The good news is that it’s starting to look like the GOP knows this.

The other thing to keep in mind is how Marc Caputo tries to massage the news by saying that most Hispanic voters leaving the Democratic party are becoming independents.
So what? Is that good news for Democrats? Does Caputo think these folks are leaving the Democratic party and becoming independents so they can keep voting for Democrats?
Not everyone who leaves one party is ready to dive into another immediately.

The laptop class establishment, the media and the other influencers live in blue echo chamber. People who don’t primarily work in an office or simply still value hard work retain their common sense. The growing disconnect between these groups is becoming more clear every day.
U.S. citizens resent the open-border policies pushed by Democrats — regardless of race.
Democrats assumed that because the border in question is wih Mexico that eligible Latino voters would support open borders. That’s how they lost South Texas.
I moved to CA in 1989 and learned very fast that no one hated open borders more than the Mexicans who migrated here legally. Cesar Chavez himself coined the term “wetbacks”. All of the national civil rights activists, like Jesse Jackson, joined in marches to end illegal immigration. Nothing changed on the ground. It’s the “leaders” who flipped the “stupid” switch to the “on” position.
Given how the democrats have sold their soul to tech industry white liberals and patronizes working class Hispanics (and others), it’s no wonder that group is turning against them. The democrat party has NOTHING to offer the Hispanic community except for handouts and backhanded comments. I believe the Republican party can cleave off a large segment of minorities from the democrat party if it focuses on painting the democrat party as the party of rich, white, tech liberals, and the Republican party as the party of the middle and working class no matter the skin color.
We will see if the dems think the problem is serious, if they ever close the border

“White Hispanic” and “Latinx” ….what did the Dems think was going to happen?
It is not about what party you are registered in, it is about who you vote for. Until recently, Florida was predominantly Democrat but consistently elected Republicans.
It could be a good idea to modify the Republican economic agenda (“Less government services than status quo, lower taxes for the upper class, increased military spending) and healthcare (“MUUUH OBAMACARE!!!!”) in order to be more appealing to more Hispanics.
We are gaining with them a lot but our gains are held back by the fact that we do have an economic agenda that really isn’t working class focused.
Culture is what I consider most important, and easily worth sacrificing Jeff Bezos’ next tax cut, and the next pet project Mark Miley has.

IMO the easiest way to ‘win’ the culture war is not to play. What I mean is neuter the Federal influence by in essence block granting most of the modern Federal govt functions back to the States.
The feds keep the legit Art 1, section 8 enumerated powers; Defense Dept, State Dept, Interior, and so on. However other cabinet departments would be replaced by very small agencies to compile data because their funding (-) Federal govt employee salaries and overhead would be sent to the States to perform.
This saves a great deal of taxpayer money, stops the ever expanding federal deficit and uses our Federalist system to end or at least minimize the divisive culture war fights at the National level. Sure presidential elections would still be a battlefield but Senate and HoR much less so.
It would also get rid of most pork barrel politics because the funds would already be going to the States via block grants. This allows Massachusetts to design and implement programs that reflect the culture and specific priorities of their State while allowing Mississippi to develop it’s own solutions. The real world, observable results from the laboratories of democracy will be available for comparison.
If you are merely suggesting that r or conservatives implement a d/prog lite version of policies I don’t see how that helps. That’s what the establishment has done for decades.
To defend the “prog light” diagnosis I gave
1. Taxes-They are not high right now, not only are they not high most Americans pay no federal tax and a huge chunk of the ones who do get a lot more back from the government than they give so no it isn’t progressive light to say “stop cutting taxes and start focusing on the deficit”. Jeff Bezos built his amazon empire in an environment that had higher taxes so no I don’t think the tax status quo is bad for business. It may be bad in CA, NY, WA which is my concern why? Those are blue states having the consequences of their elections. It is not my responsibility to sacrifice this countries future to subsidize bad decisions in CA.
The establishment has been all about cutting taxes for decades and what has it gotten us? The upper class is the wokest part of the population.
I would go into the rest as well but the response is long as is. We have an economic agenda that in many ways doesn’t make sense at all, and isn’t geared towards the working class.
A lot of blue collar and Catholic Hispanics and none of those groups poll well with wholeness or inflation (and before you laugh some head up their ass progressives think inflation is good for everyone)
