The Left Melts Down After Kyrsten Sinema’s Dramatic ‘No’ Vote On $15 Minimum Wage Amendment
“Was Sinema taken over by brain worms?” one enraged Daily Beast contributor tweeted before suggesting that Arizona Democrat was now “just an asshole who thinks it’s cute to stick it to the poor.”
Though Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema is not a Republican, she’s shown an independent streak during her time in the Senate, letting Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer know on more than one occasion that she will play by her own rules and not necessarily her party’s when it comes to making policy decisions for the people of her state.
Along with marching to the beat of her own drum in our nation’s capital, Sinema doesn’t appear to care one bit about what perpetually angry “woke” leftist activists on social media are ranting about on any given day.
Her propensity to go against her party’s wishes was perhaps never more evident than on Friday when Sinema voted “no” on socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders’ $15 minimum wage amendment to the COVID relief bill along with six other Democratic senators. one Independent senator, and all 50 Republican senators.
In her statement explaining her decision, Sinema gave a process argument, noting that in the past she had supported minimum wage increases in her state and that she would welcome debate in the Senate on raising the minimum wage as long as it wasn’t part of the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill:
“I understand what it is like to face tough choices while working to meet your family’s most basic needs. I also know the difference better wages can make, which is why I helped lead Arizona’s effort to pass an indexed minimum wage in 2006, and strongly supported the voter-approved state minimum wage increase in 2016. No person who works full time should live in poverty. Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the COVID-focused reconciliation bill. I will keep working with colleagues in both parties to ensure Americans can access good-paying jobs, quality education, and skills training to build more economically secure lives for themselves and their families.”
But while enraged leftists took to the Twitter machine to blast all Democratic senators who voted “no,” their vitriol towards Sinema was particularly nasty, and a big reason for this can be found in the video clip that circulated of the dramatic way she cast her vote on the Senate floor. Watch:
Her actions drew comparisons to the late Republican Senator John McCain’s purposely suspenseful thumbs down vote on the “skinny repeal” of Obamacare back in July 2017. But unlike how the left reacted with exuberance over Sen. McCain’s “no” vote, the exact opposite was the case with Sinema’s minimum wage vote. They were livid. In fact, the anger on display was reminiscent of how Trump was often treated by Democrats.

In one of the more hilarious post-no-vote reactions, the Huffington Post reported that a spokesperson told them it was “sexist” to make a female politician’s body language the story, a response that did not amuse so-called feminists:

If Democrats try to primary her, that could potentially be self-defeating considering middle-of-the-roaders like Sinema are the type of senators Arizona typically sends to Washington, D.C.
If she gets primaried out in favor of a radical Democrat, that could leave an opening for a conservative/moderate Republican to slide in and take one of Arizona’s two Senate seats back. While I’m not one to interrupt a Democrat while they’re making a mistake, I will say that all the frustrated lefties who are talking about ending Sinema’s career might want to be very careful what they wish for here.

When code Pink says your too far gone, that should end the debate.
Why? I’ll disagree with them as usual. Small business owners would be crushed by a high minimum wage. And for those who say “those are not the sort of businesses we want”, maybe those people aren’t the sort of neighbors I want.
If only Republican senators were as honest and less worried about what the media says about them.

Meh. I think this has more to do with the Soviet Central Committee (Schumer, Biden*, Pelosi) flipping off the Khmer Rouge wing of the Communist Party (Sanders, the Squad). A job-destroying minimum wage will pass – with Sinema voting for it – but the Communist leadership wants to make sure Sanders doesn’t get credit for it.

You could be right. But they tried to shove this minimum wage thru already in another bill under reconciliation, and the parliamentarian properly kicked it out. This is a clue that they can’t get 60 votes for it alone. Even 50 votes might be hard, from senators who worry about the swing vote in their states.
Both sides fuss whenever a party member crosses the aisle…but this current hyperpartisan climate falls squarely on the left.

But before any Arizona Republican starts writing their Election Day victory speech, there is the little matter of Third World-level voting fraud to consider – voting fraud that will become the law of the land if HB1 passes. Right now the Franz von Papen Republicans are still still too busy congratulating themselves for colluding with the Communists to get rid of Trump.
I like Sinema. She may be a progressive senator, but she seems honest. She honestly believes her garbage, but unlike other progressives, she is honest about her methods. She does what she believes in, she does not follow the crowd. Almost, as if she has integrity. A rare – very rare quality in anyone, but even more so in a politician.
btw – that does NOT mean that I agree with her. But that if it is a choice between her and a McCain, I would pick her. At least you know what you are getting

I almost feel sorry for her. She knows she has to toe a very narrow line if she wants any job security.
What I’m really dying to find out is if Mark Kelly is going to take his cue from her, which would severely impact his activities for his pet gun-control organization, or whether he’s just going to bull through as a full-goose liberal loony and get his clock cleaned next time around. Assuming, of course, we have any fair elections from here on out.
Sinema actually lost to McSally in 2018 and everyone knows it. Votes kept “appearing” just until Sinema’s total exceeded McSally’s, then the race was called. The process took many days.
She probably thinks this will help her keep her job. Maybe she’s right, I have no instinct for such questions.
The point about not criticizing a woman for her demeanor or dress is exactly right, and the objection that a man would be criticized is off point because the liberals ALWAYS demand extra slack for women. Sinema is even LGBTQ, so she’s entitled to even more, by their rules.
She can’t be a Democrat, she’s too good looking.
The Dhimmi-crats are such infantile, vile, bullying and vindictive totalitarians. All they can offer in response to any act of political disagreement is threats, insults, intimidation tactics and bullying behavior. No attempt at civility, or, of making an attempt to understand the rationales underpinning the beliefs of the other side — just crude, totalitarian, jackbooted id, histrionics and tantrums.
I don’t particularly like her style or flakiness either, although I do admire her for taking this particular position.
Meanwhile, those vengeful Dems who want to primary her ought to remember that she still has four years left in her term. A lifetime in politics, and a lot can happen between now and then.
After all that has been exposed about election fraud I marvel that people still say things like: if they primary her, Arizona will vote in a republican?

Every one of those criticizing Sinema for this vote loves the poor so much they want 1.4 million of them to lose their jobs. That’s what the CBO estimates will be the effect of raising the minimum wage to $15/hour.
