Trump ad highlights Joe Biden’s cognitive decline over past few years
Whether this line of attack works will depend on how Biden does in the debates. If he falters in terms of mental acuity on stage, it could collapse his campaign.
The elephant in the 2020 electoral room is Joe Biden’s mental acuity, or lack thereof.
On March 8, 2020, I noted that the issue had surfaced, and not by Trump but by Bernie Sanders supporters, Joe Biden is becoming a sad figure to watch:
With each passing day, more and more videos capture Joe Biden on the campaign trail making what are more than the gaffes for which he is famous. Biden forgets or struggles to remember names, events and people as he speaks, and jumbles words.
Biden should not be laughed at for this. My overwhelming feeling for Joe is one of sadness, that he was pushed into something for which he is not prepared. And it’s only going to get worse….
“Cognitive Decline” is a word increasingly being used, particularly by people on the left….
Maybe it’s nothing, but maybe it’s something. THESE ARE NOT GAFFES….
There are a lot of forces in whose interest it is to portray Biden as in cognitive decline. But we also have our eyes and ears to evaluate those claims. And the result is just sad.
Biden temporarily rescued by the pandemic, allowing his handlers to hide him in the basement and expose him to the public in highly contrived and controlled circumstances. Even with that control, Biden has had a number of embarrasing mental lapses, seeming confused as to where he was, who he was with, or what he was supposed to say.
While certainly the Trump campaign has brougt it up, now it’s front and center in the campaign. Axios reports, Trump campaign ad attacks Biden’s mental faculties:
President Trump’s re-election campaign launched its most brutal ad of the 2020 election overnight, suggesting Joe Biden has experienced severe mental decline over the past four years.
Driving the news: The digital ad, “What happened to Joe Biden,” is timed to overlap with the Democratic National Convention and launches the Trump campaign’s four-day takeover of the YouTube masthead.
- That’s prime internet real estate the campaign has bought in what it calls a “high seven figures” digital advertising effort to undercut the DNC’s messaging this week.
The details: The new ad splices footage of Biden speaking energetically and articulately in 2015 and 2016 alongside clips of him stumbling over his words and appearing to lose his train of thought during the 2020 campaign.
- It’s the harshest president campaign attack in what is shaping up to be an even uglier messaging year than 2016.
Behind the scenes: Earlier in the campaign, some Trump aides privately expressed reservations about attacking Biden over his mental fitness. Several argued that it could alienate seniors. But the proponents of this strategy prevailed.
- The Trump campaign has been gradually making this line of attack more explicit — with one ad describing Biden as “diminished” and another suggesting a mental “decline” was the reason he hasn’t taken a cognitive test.
What they’re saying: “We think it’s very important that voters fully assess Joe Biden’s qualifications and fitness to be president,” a senior campaign official told Axios.
- “Our data show that people are concerned about his ability to do the job,” the official said. Asked to provide evidence of that specific data, the Trump campaign declined to do so.

When Biden was confronted, in one of his few non-scripted appearances, he flubbed it terribly, Yikes, Biden asks Black Interviewer “Are you a junkie?” then mumbles about cognitive test:

The issue is breaking through. Even the mainstream media is raising this questions, this time to Jill Biden:

Guessing the meds he already has on board, the only option may be amphetamines but closely titrated. I would guess they have played with this poly-pharmacy to optimize his performance. As I have said before, I’d love to see a quantitative analysis of an F-18 FDG PET scan of his brain. Eagleton, with his bipolar condition, excluded him from being VP. This is far more significant as Biden is campaigning to have the nuclear football. Considering how chummy the Dems are with dictators… the risk is less … but only for them and not USA. This is Woodrow Wilson.. not at the end but at a potential beginning of a term. Can you see “Dr.” Jill and ,-la Harris running the country?

alaskabob, I actually thought of this, that they would stick a speaker in his mouth and tell him to flap his soup coolers thorough the mask to deliver a coherent “speech.” Not just for the convention, but for the debates. Crazy I know, but these people have their backs against the wall.

What debates? I can’t see how the Dems will allow him to debate. Theyll have to come with some excuse, probably COVID related.

I cannot imagine how he can give a speech longer than a few minutes.
How long was his total exposure at the Biden/Harris presser? Not speaking, I mean total time in view of reporters.
There was a reason the young girl was so adamant about pushing the reporters out as quickly and rudely as she could.
My hunch is that there will be a Covid incidence blip associated with kids going back to school and Biden’s team will only agree to participate in a Zoom debate, with the MSM backing him up all the way. That would be risky for Biden, but probably less so than an in person debate – since the press would feed him easy questions and he could read prepared statements and answers from his basement.
The way things are going, he may not be able to do even that. Reading from a script or a video screen requires remembering what he’s doing and why he’s doing it. This isn’t going to work.
Tonight we’ll find out who the dark horse is because anybody with eyes can see Joe’s condition. Moochelle? Even Pocahontas? Stay tuned …

C’mon, let’s be fair here.
The “Are you a junkie?” remark came in response to a question about whether he had taken a cognitive test. Biden was drawing an analogy to try to convey his sense of outrage at being asked an insulting question. “How would YOU feel if you were made to take a drug test, because your employers think you are a junkie?”
It was politically maladroit to use that particular analogy when talking to a black man, but I don’t think it’s evidence of cognitive decline. Biden’s got a long history of politically inept statements like this one, so I don’t think you can even call it a decline in his political savvy.
There are plenty of other examples that better support the diagnosis of cognitive decline. We shouldn’t keep pointing to this one.

I think the remark was evidence of his not-so-secret racism and he shouldn’t be allowed to sweep it under the rug as only the blathering of doddering old man. It should be used as a wedge to split off some of the black vote he’s depending on — not as evidence of cognitive decline, because I don’t think it’s very compelling evidence of that.

Corky, if biden had not recently bragged about taking cognitive tests ‘all the time’ or similar words I could see your point. But when a man says “C’mon man, I take cognitive tests all the time” or similar words, he should be able to graciously acknowledge and politely respond to the question. biden appears to have lost all ability to deal with confrontation. From “Hey Fat,” “Lying dog-faced pony soldier,” “You don’t need an AR-14, lets go outside” “Why-why-why-why-why? you’re getting nervous, man!” and the rest, it’s bad and seems to be getting worse. With his camp likely breathing TDS into his ears everyday, I expect a face to face debate with PDJT would end in a full blown joe biden epic nuclear meltdown. PDJT is smart enough to trigger it innocuously. The dems have royally screwed themselves with this ticket and probably screwed themselves for 2024 and beyond.

Another question for you: Based on what you have observed in hours and hours of Biden’s video clips, debate performances, etc. this cycle, is it REASONABLE for voters to have doubts about 77-year-old Biden’s mental fitness to begin a four-year term as the POTUS?
So what? That doesn’t disqualify him from making the same observation with the same conclusion as any of us lay people have made.
He didn’t attempt to diagnose Biden because he hasn’t examined him. He expressed an opinion based on what he sees, just like we do.

It’s rather obvious. Perhaps best to let people figure it out themselves. Not that it should be ignored, but so often there is backlash.
This is the most obvious case of elderly abuse I’ve seen in my lifetime. And it’s being done by a political party, no less!
Look at him. He is way out of his league. Then, he presented himself this week as “Joe Biden”s husband”… This is too much. The man was already a creep not even ten years ago. Remember when he was placed in The One’s ticket as “insurance” against impeachment? Good times. No GOP Senator would have ever voted to convict Obama in any impeachment case. They ALL knew him. They knew he was short of a Happy Meal by a few fries. And those pictures of him acting creepily around women and girls?!? Even my own daughter (age: 11) tells me she would not vote for Biden if she were old enough to do so.
There’s this proverb I learned as a teenager, “You can’t cover the sky with one hand.” But the DNC has tried to use every hand they could kidnap off any idiot out there so the Nation would not see the obvious loss of place and ability in this man’s eyes. I found evidence of mental decline the other evening when Biden received enough votes to lock in the nomination. It was a scripted moment when the camera went back to Biden and his family for a celebration. Biden’s staff ineptly did not have a script ready for Biden on a teleprompter. But, any politician or Biden in good health would have used that moment for a ten minute political stump speech given the opportunity to talk to the entire nation. But Biden could only manage a smile and several “thank you”. I was shocked by the blown opportunity to make a statement and would have fired his staff for their lack of professionalism.
Even if he loses he will still most likely still get over 60 million votes.
That’s the state of the electorate in 2020 America. And it illustrates the monumental arrogance and hubris of the Dems and their Marxist media political allies. They think a ham sandwich could beat Trump.
Either they are making exactly the same mistake they made in 2016. Or America has radically changed since 2016. Or they know that massive mail fraud will put them over the top.
If any event, it looks like our cold civil war will be warming up.
I choose Door #3 – Mail Fraud. The margin of victory in many states in 2016 was far smaller than the “uncounted mail” will be after election night 2020.
This was never about making Biden president. The other candidates were too over the top for the Dem.s. It’s about the vice president candidate. IF Biden wins he’ll be declared incompetent and the vice president will become president.
