Prof Resigns After Criticizing Protesters on Twitter

In addition to the prof who resigned, there’s a professor at another school who is facing pressure to resign for mocking students for wanting special considerations right now.

Saying the Wrong Thing
A professor of criminal justice at Weber State University in Utah says he was forced to resign over his tweets regarding recent national protests against police brutality.
In one post, the professor, Scott Senjo, said that he would have driven a car into a crowd of protesters. In other tweets, he seemed to praise attacks on journalists, including those covering the ongoing story.
Weber administrators condemned Senjo’s tweets but deny that they pressured him to quit.
Separately, the University of California, Los Angeles, is facing demands that it terminate a professor of accounting who seemed to mock students for requesting special accommodations in light of the protests.
There may be no perfect way for faculty members and institutions to respond to what’s happening across the U.S. right now. Some university presidents, for example, have been accused of equivocating on the issue of police violence by simultaneously condemning the killing of unarmed black men and women and the tactics of some protesters, or for not taking a strong enough stance.
In any case, the Weber and UCLA cases — both of which involve white professors — suggest there are clearly wrong ways to respond to the nationwide protests and students’ concerns about them.

We received a communication from the university my daughter will be attending. In it, the university made clear its commitment to countering “systemic racism,” also making it clear that “systemic racism” is some sort of indisputable fact. It’s a public university in a red state, but that’s the dogma of all universities these days.
What Scott Senjo said is just stupid PR. Tenure or not, don’t be stupid. I do think the counterpart violent speech of this nature by campus leftists goes completely ignored, though.
The accommodation requests are BS and nothing more than an attempt to pressure their professors into validating their beliefs or letting them skate. That stuff needs to go through the dean of students office and let them decide.
And yes anonamom, all of the universities are virtue signaling right now. I even got an email from some stupid virtue signaling company (like I care) about it the other day.
I live in Canada, and for thirty years I’ve been patronizing the Stratford Shakespeare Festival to the tune of $1000+.
They sent a cringe-worthy email full of grovelling and pandering to the BLM narrative (note that we’ve never had black slavery in Canada and police brutality against blacks isn’t really an issue here).
When I replied indicating that as a long-time supporter, I wasn’t interested in this kind of maundering, the “Literary and Editorial Director” responded personally indicating that the Stratford Festival “wasn’t a good fit” for me and offering to refund all my outstanding ticket receipts.
Ironically, there was a news report this week that the Festival is facing a $20M shortfall as a result of Wuhan Coronavirus and the management has approached Parliament cap in hand begging for an $8M bailout to save the festival.
If you have any friendly fellow goers, you should have them send in the same thing and see how much the director is willing to sacrifice at his altar (of other people’s money).
You could also tell xim that xe doesn’t get to decide your patronage unilaterally, and if you refund anything, you will just purchase again locally.
Unfortunately I have to watch the local, national and CNN “news” and it’s terrible. They practically have conferred sainthood on George Floyd when he was a stupid drug addict and thief. They talk about what a great family man he was when he was in Minneapolis and his baby mom and daughter were living in Texas!
They always talk about fundamental change, but the only change that will make any difference is if blacks stop being criminals and the ghetto gangster culture.
