FLASHBACK: Rachel Maddow said it’s “nonsense” that hospital ship will be in NYC soon

SPOILER: It’s here!

If the Coronavirus epidemic has taught us anything, it’s that mainstream media prognostications about just about everything are complete garbage.

Seems like only yesterday that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said it was “nonsense” that a hospital ship would arrive in New York City any time soon.

Watch:

But lookey here…

She’s such a corrupt, lying swine and fascist shill, it’s never worth paying much attention to her, except to tutor (yes, tutor) ignoramuses who might quote her.

Try reading a passage from one of her books: lame, beyond lame. She makes obama sound well informed. Then again, don’t waste your time. Her book reads as lame as she sounds live.

This virus: we are at war. Maddow is akin to Tokyo Rose — without the good music. Same for those treasonous pigs on “The View”.

LOL, someone needs to collect these things and make a video of them all.

Retchel look out the window as the New Dork Commie HQ.

The only way it could be worse for her is if she said it at dockside with the ship coming into the berth right behind her as she spoke.

I am always left wondering how such ignorant fools are made into headline news people these days. They hold zero credibility, their screeds are just political rants on par with Pravda.

She isn’t enjoyable to listen to with her snarky vocals, nor pleasant to look at. A novice news reader would be able to run circles around her with basic knowledge of current events. So, honestly, how did she get this high paying gig when she is totally unqualified for the position?

    JimWoo in reply to oldgoat36. | March 30, 2020 at 6:22 pm

Hard to believe somebody who is passed off as a influential journalist could have so stupidly set herself up to fail. TDS must have rotted her brain.
Is she so dumb that she thought a ship that size couldn’t sail say 1000 mi in a week? The whole viewing public knows how uninformed and plain stupid she is.

DaveGinOly in reply to JimWoo. | March 31, 2020 at 7:49 pm

She probably thought a ship that big gets very poor mileage (she would have been correct) and therefore needs to stop often for gas.

She and her sister ship the Mercy were made from supertankers. They just cut out a rectangle and dropped in the hospital compartments. They hold a fair amount of fuel and can always do an UNREF with a fuel station that’s never floating far away. I was on her underway for 4 months and we only refueled once that I can remember…

So, honestly, how did she get this high paying gig when she is totally unqualified for the position?

She’s never been anything but a radio and television commentator. It seems she got her first big break as the host of a show on Air America — the radio network the Dems launched to counter the conservative domination of talk radio.

As others have noted, she seems to be popular with that left-wing audience. So you could say that, ironically, she owes her position to market forces.

Dantzig93101 | March 30, 2020 at 5:38 pm

In 2016, she suggested she’d be sent to a concentration camp because Mike Pence hates gays. He doesn’t and she wasn’t. She should be Biden’s running mate if the slot doesn’t go to Stacy Abrams or Rachel Jeantel.

“Tampa Bay Sheriff Arrests Christian Pastor For Providing “Non-Essential” Church Services…

“[Government] shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” (First Amendment – U.S. Constitution)

Setting aside my profound disdain for this action… In the short-term there will likely be those who genuinely believe this is legally defensible as a result of a public health emergency. However, in the long-term two things will happen: (1) over time, and up to the possibility of SCOTUS intervention, the pastor will win any legal case against him; and (2) hopefully people will realize quickly the term “essential service” is arbitrary…..”

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/03/30/tampa-bay-sheriff-arrests-christian-pastor-for-providing-non-essential-church-services/

He will not win any case against him. He will lose miserably. And SCOTUS will certainly not help him, because the only legal action he could take would be under Florida’s RFRA, which is a state law. As far as SCOTUS is concerned there is no requirement whatsoever for a state to grant religious exemptions to generally applicable laws that is administered in a neutral fashion.

Barry in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 12:08 am

Try reading the constitution just once:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

No law regardless of the reason, be it war or a virus. You’re so wrong it’s painful.

Milhouse in reply to Barry. | March 31, 2020 at 12:32 am

You are wrong. There is no dispute about this — the first amendment prohibits only laws that are targeted at religious practices, whose purpose is to prohibit some religious practice. When Congress makes a law of general application, banning some practice for completely secular reasons, it does not have to create exceptions just because some people’s religion requires that practice. If a state should ever take it into its head, G-d forbid, to ban circumcision, Jews and Moslems would not be constitutionally entitled to an exception. Legislatures have often chosen to make such exceptions, and the constitution permits this, but it does not require it.

gospace in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 1:22 am

Milhouse, did you miss that part about the right of the people to peacefully assemble?

There is no question the government can quarantine people who are actually infectious. Not just sick- but infectious. People my age are among the last to remember seeing yellow quarantine signs posted on houses, signaling quarantine of an infectious person. The last one I saw was before my third grade year.

Quarantining the entire populace because some people are sick or infectious is wholly uncharted territory in the law. And quite clearly violates the Constitution.

Trouble is, most everyone quickly obeyed as sheeple do. I’m not bothering to go out because there’s no place to go out to. My wife is royally pissed that she cannot go to mass because the Roman Catholic Church has knuckled under. She, and many others, fully believe that in times of crisis you get together to pray. Basic tenet of Christianity- and falls under “The tight to peacefully assemble” as well the right to religious freedom.

There’s also now the great divide. Are gun stores an essential business or not? Closed down in some states, open in others. And liquor stores. State owned liquor stores are closed in PA. I bought 7 bottles of wine today in NY where privately run stores are essential business.

Everyone employed in my immediate family is an essential employee. But my sister-in-laws kids are currently laid off as non-essential. What’s teh legal mechanism for determining essentiality? Appears at the moment to be arbitray and capricious, words the Supreme Court hates.

Put me on a jury to determine guilt or innocence of someone holding church service, even if it’s muslims, and at best the government is getting a hung jury.

Barry in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 9:16 am

You’re correct about one thing only, by accident – There is no dispute by people that hold the constitution to be the law of the land.

Read it again, see if you can carefully craft an exception that doesn’t violate “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”.

You can’t. I know it and you know it. You are just one of those that treat the constitution as toilet paper when you find it convenient.

By the way, every synagogue in NYC has been closed for the last two weeks.

Barry in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 12:09 am

By the way, they don’t have to close. They may wisely choose to do so.

Milhouse in reply to Barry. | March 31, 2020 at 12:34 am

They do have to close, and if they don’t the police will shut them down, with the full support of the entire community.

gospace in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 1:29 am

Why are you speaking for me? I can guarantee- not the WHOLE community. You’re obviously not on social media to make such an idiotic- and is completely moronic and idiotic- statement.

It’s becoming increasingly easy to tell reading Facebook post which of my acquaintances would be willing informers for the Stasi. Had one person in town post on the town community page that (GASP- OMG) kids were playing BASKETBALL! Why weren’t the hoops removed to prevent this? Town supervisor had the hoops removed- and there are a LOT of pissed off parents, not to mentions their kids.

If we have a SHTF event he’ll be one of the first I’ll target as enemy.

Barry in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 9:18 am

We understand, you are for mob rule, not for rule by the constitution.

“or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 2:17 pm

gospace, you are not in my community. Your opinion on whether the synagogues should be closed, and on what should happen to those who defy the orders, does not count.

Barry in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 4:46 pm

Hey gospace, you don’t count. So shut up and listen to milhouse because he “counts” even though he is incapable of reading and comprehending the US Constitution.

gospace in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 5:37 pm

Gee, and all this time you’ve been pretending to be in the United States of America- my community.

DaveGinOly in reply to Milhouse. | March 31, 2020 at 7:55 pm

I thought the whole point of a written constitution was to protect our rights from the will of the mob? I’d don’t give two sh*ts how many people support something. If it’s not an action authorized by a state’s constitution, it’s unconstitutional and unlawful.

Governments’ primary purpose in this country is to protect our rights, not to keep us safe. Surely it’s not within their purview to keep us safe at the expense of our rights.

“If the Coronavirus epidemic has taught us anything, it’s that mainstream media prognostications about just about everything are complete garbage.”

Is it because the bastards just don’t believe in the power of capitalism?

Capitalism is stored-up labor. And, whatever it’s shortcomings, I bet the concomitant wealth gap and other “shortcomings” Barnie Snaders and AOC love to point to, those have been rendered completely invisible to most infected folks.

The US economy stores up labor like Usain Bolt stores energy in his powerful quick-twitch legs. So what, if Usain stumbles a bit, coming out of the blocks? So damn what? He’s going to finish strong, going away.

Where would Barney and AOC have stored up their labor? Puerto Rico? Guatemala? Evergreen State and Oberlin and cannonball factories and Tesla rebates?

Durn. ” … its shortcomings…”

Seems like only yesterday that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said it was “nonsense” that a hospital ship would arrive in New York City any time soon.

But it wasn’t yesterday, it was ten days ago, and what she said was “nonsense” was that it would be there “next week”. Well, it wasn’t. It missed that goal by two whole days. So the strict literal meaning of her words was technically correct.

Of course that’s only because when the President said “next week” it was already Friday, so he had only eight days till the end of the following week. Had he said “next week” on a Tuesday, ten days later would have fulfilled that promise. More importantly, NYC has not yet run out of hospital beds or equipment, so the ship has come in plenty of time. Thank you Mr President, and boo hiss to carpers like this mad cow who would look a gift horse in the mouth.

JimWoo in reply to Milhouse. | March 30, 2020 at 6:49 pm

She went on to say the ships would not be operational for weeks. Ship in NY will be accepting patients Tue. 10 days not weeks.

Milhouse in reply to JimWoo. | March 30, 2020 at 6:52 pm

Yes, she did say that. She’s full of sh*t, there’s no question of that. But on the specific statement being challenged here she was technically correct. Only by a fluke, of course.

JimWoo in reply to Milhouse. | March 30, 2020 at 10:00 pm

I gotta wonder if she was set up by being fed bad info or is she really so stupid as to risk what little credibility she has on something so easily validated and actually not very important. Now the whole world knows she’s a TDS infected buffoon. We already knew that here at LI though.
Glad to hear NYC isn’t out of hospital beds and equipment. Thanks Milhouse.

Another prediction shot to hell. Rachel Madcow should find a new line of work, like maybe get a 1-900 number from Miss Cleo!

swillingmartinis | March 30, 2020 at 9:34 pm

I’m glad it’s in NYC, but damn, that’s one ugly ship!

I have a question. Did she say that while waving a copy of Trump’s tax return in the air? Two birds, one stone. Or maybe stoned.
.

Frezz in the hizzy | March 30, 2020 at 10:33 pm

Madcow was a Beta Club nerd and an outstanding student. Hooray!!!

Now she’s got a stupid smirk-face and she’s the hero of the hard-left kooks because she’s got a quick answer for everything.

The irony is that her “intelligence” is veiled by an utter inability for anything even closely resembling objective analysis. She sees everything through an apocalyptic lens of her rigid ideology, rendering her humdrum as a talking-head.

Enjoy the falling ratings with your stupid facial expressions!!!!

I have spent my whole life working with genesises, covering a broad spectrum of disciplines. Most have deficiencies, and can to blind to many things. That is especially true in social context.

She makes up her reality as she speaks. She could have driven down coast. She could have asked MSNBC to send a local reporter down to the Comfort in VA and ask how things were going.
She did neither. She spewed lies and hate instead.

ps. she wants more death. more and more death. because that fulfills her fantasies.

I served on the Comfort during Desert Storm and I distinctly remember her being pretty easy to spot pulling into ANY harbor or even seen anchored out. I’m sure everyone in NYC with windows saw her come into the pier. She’s a BWB with 27 foot red targets on the sides…
