Washington Times: “Meet the Cornell law professor who tracked Elizabeth Warren’s missteps”

“When tracking the reasons Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential bid fell short, don’t forget the conservative law professor in Ithaca, New York, who wouldn’t let the world forget that the Massachusetts Democrat for years had identified herself as an American Indian.”

Elizabeth Warren has suspended her campaign for president. She’s not going away, though, she’s obviously maneuvering for something behind the scenes, hence her unwillingness to endorse either Bernie or Biden at this time.

What does she want? It could be a V.P. slot, but Bernie or Biden would be out of their minds to do that.

Bernie doesn’t need to prove his far-left bona fides by adding Warren to the ticket, and two leftists from New England on a ticket would be a disaster. Biden also doesn’t gain anything from adding Warren, as she would be an unhelpful distraction. ‘Sleepy Joe’ has enough issues without bringing Warren’s Native American and other problems to the ticket.

Warren may be doing what she did in 2015-2016, when she used the threat of her challenging Hillary to try to extract concessions from Hillary, including getting Warren’s people in key places in a future Hillary administration. Or perhaps Warren wants a senior cabinet position in the Biden/Bernie administration, a position where she would control much of the economy and try to implement her delusional economic plans without having to be elected.

Czarina Warren has a certain ring to it.

My best guess is that Warren is just going to hang around, not actively running but not throwing her support to either Bernie or Biden. If Warren can extract concessions, maybe she commits, but if not, she’ll just wait to see if they both implode and be there to pick up the pieces at the convention.

We haven’t heard the last of Elizabeth Warren this campaign season.

That said, it was a massive blow to Warren to have to suspend her campaign. But it was bound to happen. It has been clear for a long time that she could not escape her public persona of being a faker. I covered this almost a month ago just after her dismal performance in New Hampshire, Warren Campaign Obituary: She tried to fake it, but America didn’t buy it:

The massive campaign machine Warren built, reportedly with over 1000 campaign employees, could not overcome the most fundamental problem Warren’s campaign faced: Warren’s public persona of being a fake.

Americans will nominate and elect all sorts of candidates, from the virtuous to the rogue. But Americans don’t like fakes.

And there may never have been a more fake major candidate in modern American history than Elizabeth Warren.

Virtually everything about her personal narrative was false or questionable. And she couldn’t shake the “faux” prefix….

Donald Trump branded Warren “Pocahontas,” and social media called her “Fauxcahontas” and other variations. Whether you approve of those terms or not, Warren was branded as a fake, and it stuck. She couldn’t shake it no matter how hard she tried because there was a core truth to it.

Then it was a drip, drip, drip of fakery exposed….

No amount of money could change Elizabeth Warren’s brand. No number of consultants and campaign staff could change Warren’s brand.

Warren was a faker. America doesn’t want a faker. New Hampshire killed her campaign. The Elizabeth Warren campaign epitah will be: “She tried to fake it, but American didn’t buy it.”

Warren’s campaign obituary has been written. It’s only a matter of time before her campaign capitulates to reality.

Legal Insurrection readers know the role I have played in documenting Warren’s Native American and other personal and professional deceptions. That documentation is spread over 500 posts at Legal Insurrection, and organized the cataloged at ElizabethWarrenWiki.org, the website I launched on January 30, 2013, Announcing ElizabethWarrenWiki.org:

The site originally was conceived, days before the 2012 election, as The Elizabeth Warren File, a place where we could collect the massive amount of research compiled by people such as Cherokee Genealogist Twila Barnes and her team, Michael Patrick Leahy of Breitbart.com, The Boston Herald, and others including Legal Insurrection.

Given the likelihood that Warren would continue to be a national political figure regardless of the election outcome, we didn’t want this information to get lost from the public view.  It was particularly important to have it all in one place given the mainstream media and left-blogosphere willingness to overlook or excuse the negatives in Warren’s history.

Over time, however, we began to question whether a regular website format was the best vehicle.  We began to consider and do initial preparation for a Wiki-style format.

Our format decision was made for us when we noticed that Warren’s Wikipedia page had been ethnically cleansed of the embarrassing information regarding her claim to be Cherokee.  The Wikipedia page remains inaccurate and incomplete, the result of an edit war supporters of Warren appear to have won, at least for the moment.

We decided that our Wiki would be a much more comprehensive and balanced alternative to Wikipedia.  We will present the good about Warren and her career, along with the negatives.  We collect the information, you decide.

After the launch of the wiki, Business Insider derided the effort, Conservative Lawyers’ Blog Finds New Way To Attack Elizabeth Warren:

Warren’s probably not afraid of a little wiki.

Since then, I’ve appeared on countless radio shows and also on TV to talk about the depth and cunning of Warren’s ethnic deception.

It’s been an over 7-year battle to get the truth out.

It’s gratifying to see The Washington Times acknowldege how long and how hard the fight has been, Meet the Cornell law professor who tracked Elizabeth Warren’s missteps:

When tracking the reasons Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential bid fell short, don’t forget the conservative law professor in Ithaca, New York, who wouldn’t let the world forget that the Massachusetts Democrat for years had identified herself as an American Indian.

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/5/elizabeth-warren-website-from-william-a-jacobson-a/?

Read the whole thing, here’s an excerpt:

Cornell Law School professor William A. Jacobson created and maintained the Elizabeth Warren Wiki for seven years. The site documents the controversies that have dogged her political career, starting with her disputed claims of Cherokee ancestry….

During her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, which ended Thursday after her poor showing on Super Tuesday, she was repeatedly challenged on her characterizations of her previous professional work and episodes from her past.

They included her legal representation of large corporations; losing her teaching job in 1971 over being pregnant; describing her father as a janitor; accusing a senior professor of sexual harassment, and being the first nursing mother to take the New Jersey bar exam.

All those incidents and more were chronicled on EWW, which isn’t affiliated with Wikipedia, often after appearing in Legal Insurrection, the conservative blog founded by Mr. Jacobson in 2008. Both served as resources for news outlets seeking information on all things Warren during the Democratic primary.

He isn’t politically neutral, but he said he has gone out of his way to keep EWW, available at ElizabethWarrenWiki.org, “straight, nonargumentative, everything sourced, hundreds of footnotes,” using the research of others, including Cherokee genealogists, whenever possible. The site has been viewed more than 750,000 times.

“It’s a somewhat unique role,” Mr. Jacobson said. “I can’t think of any other candidate where you’ve got one person documenting so thoroughly the false narrative of their life story.”….

Questions about her authenticity may have tipped the scale for leftist voters torn between Ms. Warren and Sen. Bernard Sanders, who ultimately prevailed in capturing the lion’s share of the party’s progressive wing.

“Whatever Bernie is, he’s kind of authentic. He is who he is, and he’s been that way for 50 years,” Mr. Jacobson said. “But Warren has been something of a political chameleon, and I think that getting the facts out there was extremely damaging.”,,,,

He drew the ire of Warren’s Senate campaign, which called him a “right-wing extremist who is on the record supporting and contributing money to Scott Brown,” as reported by the Herald, referring to his $200 donation to Mr. Brown in the 2010 race.,,,

His chronicling has met with pushback from her supporters, including one who wrote emails in 2012 to other Cornell professors “about what a horrible person I am, how I’ve been lying about Elizabeth Warren, damaging the school’s reputation, and how I should not be allowed to be on the faculty.”

He’s still on the faculty, still publishing Legal Insurrection and EWW, “but it wasn’t an easy road along the way.”

“It’s not very pleasant when every person you work with is getting emails about you from an Elizabeth Warren supporter,” Mr. Jacobson said. “But I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I stuck to it.”

The rewriting of Warren’s history already has begun. She portrays herself as a victim of sexism, rather than a victim of her own false narratives.

So the job of getting the truth out is not done.

Thank you Prof. Jacobson for exposing who Warren really is, an Indian fibber out for herself at any cost.

Well done, Professor! The more people that step up and do this kind of thing, the harder it will be for the left to intimidate people into silence.

“She portrays herself as a victim of sexism, rather than a victim of her own false narratives.”

Those Democratics are all sexist; just look at what they did to her.

Making an even bigger name for yourself, and taking down Liawatha.
A twofer! Well done, Professor!

And now Biden. Another fake.

“She portrays herself as a victim of sexism, rather than a victim of her own false narratives.”

Something also really stinks about her law licenses or lack of. The Boston Globe white washed the whole controversy about practicing law out of her Harvard office without a Mass. license; despite the fact that, as a Harvard Law Prof. for >5 years, she didn’t need to take the Mass. Bar exam to obtain a license. Or why, as I read years ago, that she voluntarily surrendered her Pa(?) NJ(?) law license and those records were sealed.

Or why, as I read years ago, that she voluntarily surrendered her Pa(?) NJ(?) law license and those records were sealed.

I’ve never heard this and highly doubt that any records were sealed. What records would even exist, other than her application to go on inactive status or be removed or whatever? The reason would be obvious; she was no longer practicing law there, so had no reason to keep paying for the license and doing CLE. The only controversy is over why she never got a MA license.

She may well have usefulness to Bernie as a VP for nomination purposes, to secure her voters in the upcoming primaries and the convention.
But, I agree that a ticket with her and Bernie on it is a disaster in the general election.

buckeyeminuteman | March 6, 2020 at 11:52 am

Bravo professor! You helped us all dodge a bullet.

She probably fancies herself as some sort of modern day female Fouché.

Or perhaps Warren wants a senoir cabinet position in the Biden/Bernie administration …

I believe Joe Biden will occupy all the Senior positions

Here’s another you can add to her legacy, 97 senators cast a vote for additional funding towards the corona virus response. Warren was one of three to not cast a vote. I guess spending time at home with her dog and making a media announcement were more important than the health of her state and the country.
In addition Sanders did not cast a vote as well as Enzi of Wyoming, Paul cast the only vote against.

Well done Prof. Now tighten your security, some of her followers are nuts.

WAJ keep watching to make sure that she doesn’t get a hold of a Hillary “accident” squad and come after you!

Just being in the Senate means she’ll continue to Poke-us & Haunt-us.

“right-wing extremist who is on the record supporting and contributing money to Scott Brown,”

Because to the left the source of information is far more important than the truthfulness of it. I’ve repeatedly run into leftists who refuse to even consider information that comes from Fox News, the Washington Times, etc., etc.

“about what a horrible person I am, how I’ve been lying about Elizabeth Warren, damaging the school’s reputation, and how I should not be allowed to be on the faculty.”

And then they try to silence you by destroying your employment.

I wonder how many classically trained professional journalists with the highest ethical standards teach law at a top law school in their spare time.

Our country is much better off avoiding a fake Indian in the Presidential election.

I don’t care what she is holding her endorsement for. She will turn into a bitter old (insert pronoun), and try to inflict herself upon the country. She will never accept responsibility for her failed campaign. Many of us know people who, no matter what, are never wrong. They use the most convoluted reasons, but never her fault.

“But I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I stuck to it.”

So are we Professor, so are we…

Living in MA, I learned nothing new once this lying fraud made her bid for the nomination, but I’m very happy the rest of the country learned the truth. She’s a complete crackpot.

Not that Prof. Jacobson needs the props… but, well done!

Conservatives: Doing the difficult work that liberal journalists won’t, or at least not until their candidate flames out and crashes.

Wholehearted Congratulations Professor: for your commitment perseverence, dedication and hard in bringing the truth to light. You’re an inspiration ! When one considers how far Senator Warren went, her staying power was made possible only with the support of a complicit and corrupt media, its omissions, and its ability to filter the truth in the embarrassing and outrageous lineage of Walter Duranty.

As a follower of L.I. for the past 8 years, I posted a recap earlier this week on Prof. J.’s major role in calling out Sen. Warren since her run up to her current Senate seat in Mass.. Turning every stone and looking into closets she thought were closed, he found facts even then that only in the past 2 yrs. other media groups are just now taking as a serious character flaw for being President.
Another Kudo to Prof. J. !!

My newest Liz Warren joke:

Elizabeth Warren spent the last two years giving hope to all the young girls out there who dreamed of one day having a female president. Quitting the race today, she snatched all those dreams away.

Indian giver …

Warren isn’t looking for a VP slot, but to be made head of a reenvigorated Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Unanswerable to anyone.

Too bad. It was sort of fun watching Bolshie Boynie and Big Chief Pimple-on-Her-Tongue going at each other.

Hearty congratulations, Professor!

Now if she would just leave the Senate for good and become Professor Demeritus (ok, Demerita) at the Home for Leftist Stooges, aka Harvard Law School.

Warren is garbage.

Prof. Jacobson took out the trash.

CaliforniaJimbo | March 7, 2020 at 12:06 am

It’s telling that it took a Cornell law professor (whom I’m sure has a pretty full work calendar) to do the job that investigative journalists should do. Since warren has a D after her name, it takes a patriot to do the work. Thank you Professor Jacobson and your fine staff. I’ve enjoyed your site for years.

There won’t be a President Biden nor Sanders so she should focus on her upcoming Senate re-election. I am expecting an announcement of her being knocked out of her seat by a bright light while taking a bike tour with Slow Joe through Damascus, Maryland followed by a dramatic metamorphosis into a new life form. Maybe her Reptilian DNA will finally emerge?

And they say one person can’t make a difference. Between Oberlin and Warren, the left has now defined hate speech as simply telling the truth. I wonder what the future holds for us now that the truth is becoming more ridiculous than attempts to parody it.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital | March 7, 2020 at 1:46 pm

“…..he left has now defined hate speech as simply telling the truth….”

Methinks that was always their goal…….

a “right-wing extremist who is on the record supporting and contributing money to Scott Brown,”

Um, supporting Scott Brown is hardly a sign of right-wing extremism!

The left has been attempting to re-define the 50 yard line since Woodrow Wilson’s Progressives and the 1917 Revolution. Regardless of how far gone their radical leftward shift they ceaselessly and without shame attempt to re-craft themselves as the standard and image of the center. They now consider a Constitutional Originalist radical right-wing. Nothing short of surreal.
