Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Releases Green New Deal Posters That Look Like Soviet Propaganda
She claims the posters are inspired by the New Deal
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has launched a bizarre poster campaign in support of her Green New Deal. You may recall that the Green New Deal is a laughable disaster that was first formulated simply as a means to “change the entire economy.”
I say the poster campaign is bizarre because I see no purpose in it at all . . . except perhaps to bait the right into calling it what is: Soviet-style propaganda in support of Soviet-style communism.
Surprise!✨I am thrilled to announce the launch of our #GreenNewDeal art series with custom Bronx & Queens GND posters.
The Bronx edition poster will be given for free as a limited release to the public at our Pelham Bay Nature Day & Backpack Giveaway in the Bronx tomorrow.

Bronx & Queens art is where we’re starting, but we aspire to release custom #GreenNewDeal art for local communities across America.
We are also working on a line of GND reusables!

She seems to have anticipated the pushback:
Our #GreenNewDeal posters are inspired by the original New Deal, updated for our future.
During the New Deal, FDR launched Federal One, a US project that employed 5,300 artists that created & taught art to envision America’s future.

She claims the “art” will be distributed across America, presumably to help further brainwash the young and naive into embracing her bizarre, ill-considered, and quite ridiculous Green New Deal.
She tweeted that “These posters push us to imagine our future with a Green New Deal in two of our beloved NY-14 parks: Pelham Bay & Flushing Meadows.” What does that even mean? Push whom? She can do whatever she wants in her district, but pushing this insanity on the entire country is a non-starter, and these posters are the last way to go about banging her head against the Constitution.
Needless to say, the resemblance to Soviet-era propaganda did not go unnoticed.

As noted by Timothy Meads writing at Townhall:
I’m not saying AOC did this on purpose, but it probably isn’t a great idea to have communism be the first thing that people think of when they look at posters for a new economic proposal which overhauls every aspect of your life and the economy.
Frankly, the resemblance is a bit too on the nose for me, and it makes me suspicious of her motives. Then again, she may be completely unaware of the history of her chosen ideology? Or perhaps she thinks America is ripe for a communist “evolution” if not revolution?
When even Buzzfeed sees the problem . . . .
I’m not saying the Green New Deal poster that AOC just tweeted reminds me of the WWII statue in Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) but here we are pic.twitter.com/FjB14jmzXz

Meanwhile, other Twitter users just had fun with the idea.

Please send as many as are available to West Texas. We would love to hang one on every drilling rig, every completed well, pipeline right a way signs…the hrs are long, dirty work, miles of driving but these would bring so much laughter!

Let us remember that FDR’s administration was riddled with Communist agents of the Soviet Union. So for once, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez might have been telling the truth.
Roosevelt’s support of the FAP was inspired by the murals of Diego Rivera. Quite a few the recipients of the Federal Arts Project were John Reed acolytes. Much of the public art created via the New Deal was very collectivist in nature. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that many artists and writers of that era were card carrying communists. They, like many other people who couldn’t be described as deep thinkers, were always trying to figure out a way to create a utopia.
Being that artists tend to be quite underpaid with some few notable exceptions for the truly talented, it makes sense for artists to think that communism and socialism are answers to their thin wallets.
The same goes for actors, who generally starve to feed their career paths and work at menial jobs to pay the rent. When the few make it big, too many have bought into their starving friends needing help. Never mind they themselves don’t lend a hand up, they expect the government to do that while they keep their millions.
I’d say “low paid” not “underpaid”. Who decides they’re worth more than what they are paid?
The mental midgets are overpaid.
When are the “fact checkers” going to rant and rave about her million lies? I don’t think she’s told the truth about anything except her fear of garbage disposals.
And how come she’s ignoring NASA with their new placement of sensors now says there had been NO warming since 2005?
Her constituents must be very happy to see how hard she’s working to solve their real life problems.
She’s gonna be reelected if her challengers keep entering the Republican primary. That primary is totally irrelevant. She has to be primaried in the Dem primary, same as she primaried the guy before her.
I don’t know about that. Sometimes a politician is so horrible that even partisans from their own party will vote for their opponent. That happened in the 1980 presidential election and gave Ronald Reagan a 44 state landslide against incumbent president Jimmy Carter. Then in 1984 the Democrats nominated the arguably worse Walter Mondale and Reagan won with a 49 state landslide. While Reagan received a lot of enthusiastic support from the Republican base; he couldn’t have achieved those results without a whole lot of Democrats voting for him.
The election is still 14 months away. If Occasionally-Coherent screws the pooch a few more times like she did on the Amazon deal; many Democrats will likely vote Republican.
It’s nice to see Lady Liberty, who’s been off the coins for over 50 years, over 100 in most cases. And the globe from the 1964 World’s Fair, which I was at as a little kid, nice memories that have nothing to do with some stupid CO2 limitation big government strategy.
Using Lady Liberty to promote a big-government takeover of much of the economy is kinda weird.
I actually like the art, but it’s unrelated to the product it’s promoting.
As I was reviewing the art work I found myself humming right along,

LOL. Catchy tune for sure; the kind of tune you whistle as you head out to catch the morning train, while walking on a cloud on the sunny side of the street.
Probably on the Hit Parade of 1944,
Long live our Soviet motherland
Built by the people’s mighty hand
Long live our people, united and free
Strong in our friendship tried by fire
Long may our crimson flag inspire
Shining in glory for all men to see
I had said the same thing in 2008 about the Shepard Fairey “HOPE” poster of Barack Obama.
To me it looked just like 1930s Nazi and Soviet posters.
These do, too.
Socialists gotta socialist.
My Obama era window sticker in the car had the orange-blue Bullwinkle with the word DOPE below it.
I suspect the art that they chose is simply a reflection of the literature that they have been exposed to throughout their lives. Farm kids don’t draw pictures of buildings and city kids don’t draw pictures of cows, so if their images reflect soviet proaganda drawings, it is just because that is all they know.
Using paper and electricity to create throwaway posters sounds like a green new deal to me…
Keep in mind, UN climate officials have also admitted it’s about the economy/wealth redistribution:
“We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy,” said Edenhofer”
https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/another-climate-alarmist-admits-real-motive-behind-warming-scare/
I was surprised to read there that it isn’t even about wind and solar any more. They’ll make most of the power nuclear! That’s actually a good idea, but Trump is already working on it.
It really is no longer about climate. Now it includes a guaranteed federal job for anyone that wants it. Like Bill Clinton’s “welfare to work” which gave welfare recipients positions of authority over us and federal job protections — on steroids.
The answer is both. The New Deal itself was based more on Italian fascism than on communism, but the art it produced owed a lot to the Soviet style.
New Deal derived from Italian Fascism, that’s interesting, what source do you recommend to read about it?
To think the Democrats are calling Republican “Fascists”.
Many many sources, mostly contemporaneous, but for a summary see Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism.
I tried looking at the comparisons on Twitter and I couldn’t see a one. I hope it is just my lack of Twitter skills and nothing more.
There are tweets of the comparison in the post. If you wish to view them on Twitter, simply click on them.
If you are interested in conducting your own search, know that Twitter has a habit of hiding conservative tweets from searches, but there are ways around that. One is to go to the tweet that started the issue (in this case, AOC’s GND poster tweets, also embedded in this post), and simply scroll down and read the replies. Again, all you have to do to view the AOC tweets on Twitter is click on them in the post; they are embedded, so if they disappear from Twitter, they won’t show here, either.
a boat load of crap in pretty wrappings
This moron cortez has never had an original thought.
Funny, but the posters are a parody of themselves, more akin to something on Oleg Atbashian’s hilarious Soviet-parody blog, ThePeoplesCube.com.
