All the Hollywood stars, and all the Emily’s List money, can’t put Elizabeth Warren’s credibility together again

All the Hollywood stars, and all the Emily’s List money, can’t put Elizabeth Warren’s credibility together again

Scott Brown raised over $5 million in the 2nd Quarter of 2012, his best fundraising quarter yet, but less than Elizabeth Warren raised in the quarter, via Boston Globe:

Scott Brown’s campaign said this evening that he raised $5 million in the most recent fundraising quarter, his best to date in a Senate race, but short of rival Elizabeth Warren’s $8.67 million haul over the same period.

Both candidates are among the top money raisers in the country, with Warren leading all congressional candidates as of April.

According to the campaign, the Senator has a total of $15.5 million in the bank, compared with Warren’s $13.5 million.

Brown’s campaign said today that two-thirds of his donations came from inside the state, a figure that is intended to draw a contrast with Warren, who has raised the majority of her itemized contributions (those over $200) from out of state.

“We are extremely grateful for the strong showing of support for Senator Brown from the people at home who know him best,” said John Cook, Brown campaign’s finance director, said in a statement.

Both candidates will have enough money for the fall election.  In a small state like Massachusetts, there’s only so much saturation you can do.

The election will not be decided because Warren raises more money from Hollywood and Emily’s List.  They don’t vote.

And all the Hollywood stars, and all the Emily’s List money, can’t put Elizabeth Warren’s credibility together again.

Update 7-12-2012:  Michael Patrick Leahy notes:

An analysis of available Federal Election Commission filings indicates that Warren’s fundraising advantage comes entirely from out-of-state.

Dear Massachusetts voter,

Whose Senator does Elizabeth Warren plan to be, yours…or Hollywood’s?

Don’t be so certain, professor. There is a progressive number, a large minority, and perhaps a slight majority, of Americans who dream of instant gratification. They lack sufficient integrity to prevent them from voting for a fraud.

It’s the supreme hypocrisy that they are pro-choice to commit elective termination of a developing human being when it is most vulnerable.

Actually, no it’s not. It correlates precisely with their other dreams for instant gratification. It fits well with their advocacy for redistributive change and shifting responsibility.

They are clearly not concerned with the devaluation of human life, let alone with progressive corruption. I imagine that exploiting affirmative action policies for the benefit of individual and cooperative interests would be unlikely to even trigger a conscious response.

The biggest problem with instant gratification is that it takes too long.

Not really. Instant gratification can be realized in at least three different forms: physical, material, and ego. The first is achieved through contraception and, when that fails, through abortion. The second is achieved through redistributive and retributive change, but also through fraudulent exploitation. The third is achieved through manipulation of perception, appeals to emotion, denigration of individual dignity, etc. While all of these forms may not yield an “instant” outcome in the strictest sense, they all integrate that effect.

The problems we are experiencing are due principally to a progressive desire for instant gratification without consequence. Unfortunately, the feedback mechanisms which constrain the progress of dysfunctional, evolutionary and otherwise, behavior have been broken or terminally damaged. This has resulted in many individuals — a large minority and perhaps a slight majority — experiencing a progressive dissociation from reality.

For example, our desire for physical gratification, especially sexual, has lead to a majority of the population reproducing in the minority. The vacuum this created has been filled by immigrants, legal and otherwise. The population continues to grow, the jobs are filled, and the consequence of a declining population is no longer obvious.

Another example, of course, is material gratification, which underlies our fiscal crisis. I’ll sum it up as everyone wants a beachfront property in Hawaii and they want it now. Presumably, this is why we are leveraged to capacity while ignoring the consequences associated with a debt-based (i.e. promissory) economy.

None of this is sustainable, but it feels good now.

The truth is on Scott Brown’s side but the fickle left leaning MA electorate is on Warren’s.

This race will be a toss up which is actually quite an accomplishment considering the hostile environment.

I wish Mr. Brown the best…

I bet you $4.36 that Auntie Obonga & Uncle Obango are voting for the Indian.

I would have suggested Indian Liz statues outside Tobacco stores but i guess such commerce is banned in MA.

Still mockery is the one thing trendies fear most.

Brown is an ingrate and MA deserves both of them. He could’ve had the TP roaring behind him, but he couldn’t wait to jettison those who helped him rise.

Don’t be too sure about the money, Professor. You can saturate a small state quickly with advertising, sure.

But the ground game? The GOTV effort? Oh, that’s money, a lot of money. And volunteers, and staffers, and lots of paid people to drive the vans, make the phone calls, and get the voters into the booths. If Prof. Warren has (say) a 2:1 edge in money, it’ll be that much more she can use to buy ACORN (which is where it will go, bank on it).

Senator Brown needs an A+ ground game if he’s going to win this.

Professor, I think you have the rhyme wrong, its

“All the Hollywood stars, and all the Emily’s List money, can’t make Elizabeth Warren a Cherokee again”

I think the more biting slogan, Obama / Warren 2012, “Change into something stupid”

Or Obama / Warren 2012, “Let’s double down on freud”

Egad! Warren looks like Al Franken. I need a shower.
