Michelle Obama is the Democrat 2020 frontrunner, even if she doesn’t want to be
Sales records for her memoirs confirm that her candidacy would combine the slobbering media and Democrat love affair for her husband with the steroid of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Michelle Obama says she doesn’t want to be president.
Yet she probably is the only Democrat capable of uniting the Democrat Party around something other than Trump hatred. It’s not that she doesn’t hate Trump, she’s made quite clear she does.
But she would bring something else to the table for Democrats, the Barack Obama coalition and willingness of Democrats to put aside their ideological differences in subservience to a nominee.
There was no “Never Obama” movement within the Democrat Party in 2008 and 2012, unlike the “Never Trump” movement in the Republican Party. But there was a “Never Hillary” wing of the Democrat Party that may have cost her the 2016 election.
Could any other present Democrat candidate unite the party like an Obama?
Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, and the others are mere wannabees with limited name recognition and baggage, relative no-names desperate for attention. Bernie could excite the base, but would split the party. Joe Biden missed his chance in 2016, time has passed him by, as has the Democratic Socialist wing of the party.

3. Get ready. This is the BIG ONE. If as predicted Republicans hold the Senate and House, there will be a clamoring for a Democrat candidate who can unify and motivate the Democrat base and establishment sufficiently to defeat Donald Trump in 2020: Michelle Obama.
Democrats did retake the House, but not the Senate, so mark that as a prediction that didn’t hold. But I don’t think the logic for Michelle has changed, given the likely Democrat field, which may measure in the dozens. “[T]here [still] will be a clamoring for a Democrat candidate who can unify and motivate the Democrat base and establishment sufficiently to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.”
That person uniquely is Michelle. There is a good indicator in the reveal that her Memoirs, released just after Election Day, have shattered sales expectations.
AP reports, Michelle Obama’s memoir ‘Becoming’ sells 1.4M copies in week:
Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” has become a massive hit.
Crown Publishing told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the former first lady’s memoir has sold more than 1.4 million copies in print and digital formats in the U.S. and Canada in the seven days since it was released Nov. 13.
Based on demand from retailers across all channels, the publisher has printed 3 million hardcover copies in North America. On its first day, the book sold more than 725,000 copies, making it one of the year’s biggest debuts.
Crown also said that “Becoming” is currently the No. 1 adult nonfiction title in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Holland, Spain, Denmark and Finland. In Germany, some 200,000 copies have been sold, prompting a second printing of 100,000 copies.
In the United Kingdom, “Becoming” is published by Viking and it has had five press runs with a total of 575,000 copies in print. In Holland, the Dutch-language edition is the best-selling book in the Netherlands, with the English-language edition ranked second.
“Becoming” is well exceeding the pace of previous memoirs by first ladies. In 2003, Hillary Clinton’s “Living History” had first week sales of around 600,000 copies.
One aspect of her memoirs that has led media pre-publication coverage was her hatred of Trump:

“The whole thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks,” she says in the book.
“What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.”
There’s a reason her team leaked the birther portion of the book pre-publication. They understand that Trump hatred sells well.
It’s not surprising that the memoir is selling well in Europe. Mr. Obama was the president of the world (in his policy and mind). That appeals to a large segment of the U.S. population, particularly younger people, indoctrinated since elementary school, but particularly in college, that the U.S. is the world’s greatest problem.
The mainstream media would unite behind Michelle like nothing we’ve ever seen. Her candidacy would combine the slobbering media and Democrat love affair for her husband with the steroid of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
All that said, I still doubt Michelle will run. I believe her when she says she doesn’t want the job, and it’s a job you have to really, really want to run for it.
Michelle Obama may not want to run for president. And she may not want to be president. But despite those personal feelings, the clamoring for her will reach deafening proportions once Democrat primary season gets underway and Democrats take a look at the 25 people on stage and scream: HELP!

If Barack could be POTUS, then everyone on the planet is qualified.
A candidate with even less of a resume than BHO, unless you count being married to an ex-POTUS. Even Hilliary did not rely solely on her marital status as a resume enhancer.
This. What does she bring to the table other than being the “wife” of BO? Bad school lunches? SMH.
Theres only two things Mooochelle brings to the table, being married to the President of the World and her skin colour.
Otherwise she is just like every other Democrat who hates her country.
She brings symbolism. She’s a woman and an African-American. And she is full on American hating progressive which warms the hearts of millions of Americans and others around the world. She’s like a Evita Peron, in some ways. Peronists dominated Argentinian politics for decades (off and on). The Obamas could as well.
She’s probably Trump’s greatest threat.
Michelle struggles with filtering out her hate though, which is unlike Barak who probably is more of a progressive poser than progressive puritan (he was raised in real privilege and wealth). Michelle is a true puritan. That could be her undoing.
The GOP could/should constantly remind the younger voters that Michael is directly and solely responsible for the school lunches they had to gag down every day.
The GOP better have a lot more than that. Thankfully the GOP has Trump, and he’ll bring her bigotry to a froth.

You forgot about her extremely important 6 figure job as a hospital administrator, complete with assistant, created just for her to fill. A job so important that only she could fill it, as demonstrated by the job’s elimination when she left for D.C. There wasn’t anyone in all of Chicago qualified enough to fill her role there.
Sure would be interesting to get a job description as to what her duties actually were.

From what I understand, the bulk of her job was to ensure that Medicare and Medicaid patients went to another hospital.

I’m betting most of these books are bought in bulk by labor unions, entertainment moguls etc. Liberal books are often not famous for being immediate best sellers like conservative authors.

She wouldn’t have to do the job. The whole point of a Michelle candidacy is that she would be a surrogate for Barack, who would run in a heartbeat if he were eligible. So she can run in his place (with him doing much of the work) and then lie back and let him do her presidenting for her, while she lives the good life.

When George Soros dies, he’s going to leave the obama and hillary clinton books he bought by the millions – and has in storage somewhere – to the NY Slimes to recycle into newsprint.
The push for a MO Presidential run is strategic.
First, MO is believed to be firmly in the pocket of the Progressive Establishment. It is unlikely that she would go off the reservation.
Second, he race and gender would make it more likely that the Dems could maintain control over three of their most important bases; African Americans, women and white Americans immersed in “racial guilt”. Kamala Harris might fit this bill, but, in the arena of identity politics, is she “black” enough [as Al Sharpton so famously asked about BHO].
Third, she can be sold as a less radical progressive liberal then some of the potential candidates for 2020.
Finally, she has bono fides that the Dems like. She is the wife of a former beloved Dem politician and President. The Dems are not shy about running the wives, and other family members, of notable Dem politicians in order to cash in on name recognition. And, as an added bonus, her election would mean the election of BHO, as co-President. Though as BHO is such a publicity hog, this could ultimately cause problems.
We’ll have to see whether she actually runs or not. But, strategically, she would be a good choice for the Dems.
Now had Beto taken up with Barbara Bush Jr, Shakespeare would have new lessons to write…
If she runs, take her very seriously. She would be a formidable candidate. Never again scoff at any dem candidate. Do not automatically assume vote cheating caused the dem victory. Always look at what R’s did to lose the election. Assume the dem won and figure out why. Even if the dem cheating was obvious figure out why it was close enough that could happen.
