Fox News supports Laura Ingraham against “agenda-driven intimidation efforts”
“We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored”
It appears that Fox News will not give in to the David Hogg, Media Matters and #TheResistance driven faux outrage over Laura Ingraham’s mild rebuke of Hogg as someone who “whines.” That faux outrage has been used to intimidate advertisers into fleeing Ingraham’s highly-rated program.
Fox News co-President Jack Abernathy just released this statement (via L.A. Times):
“We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts,” Jack Abernethy, co-president of Fox News, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. “We look forward to having Laura Ingraham back hosting her program next Monday when she returns from spring vacation with her children.”
For a decade activists like Angelo Carusone of Media Matters have been trying to pick off Fox News and other conservative media personalities by bombarding advertisers on social media. If Ingraham could be taken down over a mild comment about a flame-throwing activist like Hogg, then it would be like blood in the water to the unhinged social media anti-Trump activists.
I wrote last night, If Fox News cancels Laura Ingraham, it might as well close the network:
It’s not about Laura Ingraham or David Hogg — it’s about an unhinged and emboldened totalitarian movement that seeks to deplatform conservatives. Their primary target for a decade has been Fox News, which is the one non-liberal network in a sea of liberal major media.
Sacrificing Laura Ingraham won’t satiate the beast. If Fox News cancels Laura Ingraham over this faux outrage about her tweet, then Fox News might as well close the network.
If past experience with Rush Limbaugh and others holds true this time, expect a continuing, guerilla-warfare style harassment of advertisers.
Limbaugh addressed what was happening to Ingraham on air today, and gave a nice shout out to me about my post:
RUSH: You know, folks, it’s like the libs’ real purpose behind something is often obscured and camouflaged. If you look, for example, this latest attempt here to boycott advertisers at Fox News. They’ve tried that with Sean Hannity. They tried it with Ted Baxter, and they got rid of Baxter. They were able to get rid of Bill O’Reilly. And this latest one is about Laura Ingraham and her supposed unserious taunting apology to David Camera Hogg, Parkland, Florida, high school fame. And so the response is, “Hey, she apologized.”
“Well, it wasn’t good enough. Well, she didn’t mean it,” blah, blah. At some point it obfuscates what really is happening here. These things happen like clockwork. There is an entire left-wing apparatus set up to run these operations. And the ultimate objective for all of these — and Bill Jacobson, William Jacobson, Legal Insurrection, writes about this today, and he has a great term for what this actually is, and it is the attempt to deplatform American conservatives, take away conservative platforms, take away Fox News, not just a couple of hosts, but just get rid of the whole entity.
I hope Fox News stays strong on this. It will need to.

Bravo, Jack Abernethy, co-president of Fox News.
Lessons learned: Don’t punch down, Laura. Minutes of Fame are directly proportional to political opportunism. The media is a churning bubble. Turn off and step outside often. Trolls are legion, not reality. Do not take civility lessons from the uncivil. Never apologize.
Camera Hogg is going to get his comeuppance at some point. Laura should have stayed out of the gutter he wallows in.
Attention Hogg loses all teenage protection when he calls for boycotts against corporations and peoples’ livelihoods.
Good for Fox for not caving to the 1 way outrage industry.
I’m pleasantly surprised Fox News made this statement and took this position.
It’s very helpful.
The little cretin’s 15 minutes can’t end soon enough for me.
Fox accusing others of being agenda driven. Did they make this statement on April Fools’ Day? Or did they rightly assume their cult is down with their program.
That’s funny. What you don’t realize is unlike the unhinged liberals, we don’t need Fox News to tell us what to think.
Our views are founded on Constitutional values.
There should be a way to judge the reality behind a social outrage campaign. Rush Limbaugh said that after advertisers on his program were targeted for boycott, he researched the sources and traced them back to no more than ten individual sources responsible for mass mailings. (HT pacnwbel) I figure the same is true for twitter.
As Rush noted These things happen like clockwork. There is an entire left-wing apparatus set up to run these operations.
That statement was too verbose. Here’s a better way to say it:
“Tell all those little fascists to f**k off.”
“Sod off, Swampy!”
It appears that the business side of FNC has just spoken. If it was up to the bros, they would have fired her.
Who are the “bros” and how do you know what they would have done?
OK, if the “bros” are the MSM or teen twits filling useful idiot roles, then you are correct.
I wonder if advertisers will stick it out too like FNC has decided. Maybe it will be a steady run of gold commercials and others that would be less effected by the unhinged boycotts.
I don’t know about Fox, but a lot of those advertisers who were quick to drop Limbaugh came quietly slinking back when they saw the impact to their bottom lines.
My Pillow Head Guy says “we’re sticking”
Progress or monotonic change. Specifically, positive progress or change.
FOX should brand the companies in question as fascist and ban them from advertising on all FOX networks and affiliates.
I have a few suggestions for advertisers for the LI show.
Kel-Tex,Bushmaster, Mossberg Barretta …
I would really like to see what Hogg makes of that.
Sorry that should be Kel-Tec
and Beretta…
Well-deserved recognition from Rush.
Which translates into beaucoup trolls from Media Matters, Moms Demand Action, Bloomberg, etc… as well at more ACLU, BLM and maybe the ANC/EFF for all I know.
I frequent a couple of other “conservative” sites that use the Disqus platform for comments.
In the past 2 hours, I’ve blocked 8 new trolls there.
7 yesterday.
Definitely been a huge uptick in the number of those urinating on conservative sites in the past week or so.
Often there will be a pileup of them under a “main” comment, the replies nested and indented. It may just be me, but I find that one can see two or more names where the comment style is so similar, they are likely the same person.
Daily Caller and the Daily Mail, not conservative but a huge platform for commentary, have definitely attracted the Soros and Media matters trolls. Same style, same nonsense. Fake news, fake facts.
The advantages of blocking the trolls are:
1. Replies feed them, ignore them and they fail; and,
2. Blocking them makes the comment section so much shorter, rational and on-topic.
Note that while 15 advertisers have pulled out of Ingraham’s show, none of them have pulled out of Fox News entirely, are leaving their ads up on the other shows, and may well switch Ingraham’s share to those other shows. Ingraham has a minor, temporary loss, while Fox loses nothing. And no, I didn’t get that from CNN, lol.
I would still be very concerned.
Laura’s initial response was anemic.
I am starting to get earlier posters who said it is anathema to back down from these AssHats.
Tora Tora Tora, Laura, if that is within your capabilities!
Will she do that?
Probably not but we’ll see.
Your “concern” is noted. That Laura apologized shows how decent she is, even if it was the wrong tactical choice.
Hogg wants to be taken seriously as an adult, but as soon as he receives criticism, he wants to be protected as a child. What Ingraham said was very mild compared with all the vile accusations Hogg has thrown at Rubio and the NRA.
Hogg apparently is an adult, now 27, interned at CNN (who is NWO Ted Turner), was arrested at age 26 …

Another globalist George Clooney just donated $5ook to the useful idiots.
“I don’t think “left” is the word you want. The FBI has never adored “the left”, Turner is a billionaire media mogul, and it’s been regimes, post-British Empire (England itself, Australia) and others who’ve demanded gun control. I wouldn’t resort to horizontal left-right divide-and-conquer. If the implications here are true, it’s more of a top-down thing. You’re right it isn’t grassroots left, it’s been manufactured higher up the food chain.”
That’s a bad link.
Per “The Young Frankenstein”, it’s also a rotten brain…
It took them long enough! Why would or should I believe that Laura Ingram went “into the gutter” with this teenage bozo? He obviously believes that he is better/smarter than everyone else and that these colleges that wouldn’t accept him are wrong. She called him a whining crybaby because that is what he is.
If you disagree with him, obviously you want to kill children. If you don’t accept him into your college then you must be stupid.
This seems to be the way leftist arguments go now. Sort of the way people who claim to be atheists argue. They don’t believe in Christianity because its stupid. No reasoned argument at all. Hogg believes that if you don’t believe him or agree with him, you are just plain stupid. Why would any university want someone like that?
Ingraham should have posted her tweet about the little twit using the English term “whinging”. Few, if any, of the twits following Brat Hogg would understand.
First, I’ll say I don’t know what is involved in running a TV network or producing a TV program. So I may have this wrong.
But I assume Fox has account executives or sales reps who smooze sponsors and try to persuade them to buy ad space on the program. Most sales type jobs a high commission component. You eat what you kill.
If that is how it works at Fox, the sales guys probably spend years cultivating relationships with sponsors. After one mild tweet by the “star”, they lose the sponsor and the sales guy’s income gets cut.
I imagine it took a lot for the sales reps to persuade many of the sponsors who are leaving now to stick with Fox after it came to light that Fox was paying off women who had accused Ailes, O’Reilly and others of sexual harassment.
The sales folk must be furious.
Every time they turn around they are being punished for things the top execs and “stars” are doing. It’s not hard to imagine that eventually some of the sales team are going to take the relationships they have built with the sponsors to a less contentious place to work.
Less contentious?
Oh no. I’m going to be stalking these companies for their positions on abortion, the right of return for Palestinians, etc.
I also won’t just be boycotting them. I’m going to sabotage their products, their delivery trucks, and their people. When and where I can find them.
They wanted to enter the Culture War? Welcome to the NFL.
Yep. Here’s our Killer, AntiFa and bane of plate glass windows that offend him!
