Steve Bannon out at Breitbart News
Inevitable given Bannon’s conflict with the Trumps
I guess this was inevitable.
A website that played a large role in creating momentum for Donald Trump to win the Republican nomination, and to a much lesser extent the presidency, could not continue with someone at the helm who now was persona non grata with Donald Trump and his family. Either Brietbart News had to change, or Steve Bannon had to go.
Breitbart News has just announced:
Stephen K. Bannon has stepped down from Breitbart News Network, where he served as Executive Chairman since 2012.
Bannon and Breitbart will work together on a smooth and orderly transition.Bannon said, “I’m proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform.”
According to Breitbart CEO Larry Solov, “Steve is a valued part of our legacy, and we will always be grateful for his contributions, and what he has helped us to accomplish.”
I haven’t personally weighed in on the situation, other than to opine that whether Bannon stayed or went was part of the noise that should not distract Trump or Republicans from plowing forward on agenda items, Trump and Republicans need to plow through the noise blizzard.
In the days since Bannon was revealed to be a main source for the truthiness of Michael Wolff’s book about the Trump administration, Trump himself tweeted angrily about Bannon, branding him as “Sloppy Steve.”
Many people who had worked for Bannon with unpleasant results also weighed in, proving true the saying that the people you climb over to get to the top are the people you meet on your way down.
I had no personal beef with Bannon, mostly because my interactions with him had been so rare. He and Larry Solov asked me to join Breitbart News in 2012, but I declined for many reasons, primarily valuing my independence.
So let the speculation begin. What happens to Breitbart News now? To me that’s just more noise, so I’m not going to dwell on it. What will become of Bannon? More noise.
Expect a pile-on and gloating. But not from me. I have better things to do.

Glad you decided to stay independent! LI is my favorite and the primary blog I go to for political news and analysis. Given how things have shaken out I shudder to think what would have happened to you and this site had Bannon managed to get a hold on you.
Bannon is toxic now after this feud. Would probably be best for him to retire from the political and news scene and move on to doing something else with his life.
Breitbart.com was never, ever again Breitbart.com from the moment Breitbart died.

i am doing some searches on Bannon and Breitbart where they arre described as ‘Alt-Right’.
Does that imply that the MSM and most ‘news’ outlets are Alt-Left and if not why not ?

Easy prediction: Nationalists will rewrite history to claim that Trump’s interest in amnestizing DREAMers and other illegals began only after the divine influence of Steve Bannon was excised from the White House, leaving POTUS to be manipulated by “globalist” traitors. (That history’s being rewritten already, in fact.) In reality Trump has been chattering about DREAMers and comprehensive reform since the first few months of his presidency, when Bannon was still the chief strategist. If you believe BuzzFeed, Bannon himself supported a deal legalizing DREAMers on the theory that they’re incidental to nationalist concerns about illegal immigration. DREAMers have been here since they were kids; they’re already largely assimilated. It’s the new illegals you need to watch out for. Besides, long before Bannon was a political glint in Trump’s eye, super-hawk Jeff Sessions and his deputy, Stephen Miller, were both part of Team Trump. If you don’t like which way Trump’s policy is going, don’t absolve them of blame by pinning everything on the shadowy influence of “Javanka.” Either Trump’s not listening to the border hawks around him or those border hawks aren’t being nearly as vocal as you’d expect.
Or, always a third possibility, he’s either pandering to the Democrats and media around him in praising “comprehensive immigration reform” or, uh, has no real idea what that term means. Apparently he got confused during today’s summit when Dianne Feinstein proposed a standalone amnesty bill for DREAMers:
A “clean” DACA bill with no security attached, only promises from Democrats of security to come, might be the one thing Trump could do on policy that would deeply shake MAGA nation’s faith in him.

What will happen now? Breitbart will become the My Space of right-leaning blogs, until one day in the near future it closes its doors.
Nobody who actually knows anything about this whole annoyance is likely to be talking about it. The cost/benefit ratio of dealing with any portion of the press is just not very favorable, unless it’s with the explicit intention of causing a stampede (i.e., isn’t “news” at all).
As for me, I think I’ll hoard my blood-pressure meds until something real comes along.
IMO those celebrating Bannon leaving BB thinking it will return to what it was before Andrew B’s death are being foolish. The site has changed and if it looses the bite it had it will end up dropping out of that click leader spot that some relish so much.
It either will become a total Trump fan club or a RINO home. Right now it is trying to divide the remaining candy between the 2 sides.
I felt, before the election, that Breitbart had already become a total Trump fan club. I looked for more objective reporting. They have some good-quality people; I hope they can recover some journalistic integrity. Right-leaning, but with eyes open, would be the goal.
