Trump Cancels Livestream of Fort Hood Shooter’s Execution

People on both sides of the aisle condemned Secretary Pete Hegseth’s decision to livestream Nidal Malik Hasan’s execution.

President Donald Trump decided against livestreaming the firing squad execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter.

Trump wrote on Truth Social:

Nidal Malik Hasan, a former U.S. Army Major turned traitor, is a very bad and evil man, who killed 13 people, including a pregnant soldier, who died, along with her unborn son, and injured, very seriously, 32 more innocent people. Barack Hussein Obama’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intercepted electronic communications between Hasan and the radical Yemeni-American cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki. When reviewed by his FBI terrorism task force, investigators concluded that Hasan’s emails were not a threat. This assessment of the Obama Administration’s actions was later considered to be a key intelligence failure. With all of that being said, I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device. He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed. That said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose. They deserve to witness JUSTICE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth decided last week to livestream the execution on December 3.

However, Hegseth drew heavy backlash from people on both sides of the aisle.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said the execution could become “a recruiting tool for future terrorists.”

On November 9, 2009, Hasan, a former Army major and psychiatrist, killed 13 unarmed soldiers and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood, TX.

he shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the massacre.

Cancel the live stream is the right move.

Yeah, well, nobody is forcing anyone to watch.

The only one that’s not supposed to watch is the one being executed. He is supposed to wear a blindfold. The reason for a blindfold is fourfold:

    1. calms the condemned man.
    2. reduces tension in the air
    3. avoids eye all contact
    4. everyone feels good

Rep. Johnson is an idiot. They’ll use Hassan’s execution as a recruiting tool, whether or not it is televised.

So let them not watch. Meanwhile many very good and well meaning people would rather watch; why should they be deprived of that opportunity? Why can’t everyone have what they want?

whether you have personal objections or not, no use in turning a murderer’s demise into an international spectacle–imagine what the bought media could do with this if the event was broadcast ?–the talking heads, some sort of “countdown” in real time, a 24/7 replay of the crime particulars, etc,–endless legal ” experts ” pontificating on the merits / defects of the entire process, all the pearl knashing of the libs and their efforts to make the criminal into some sort of victim or hero, etc.

no thanks–keep it simple, dignified and private ( to the extent possible ):

the victims, their families (should they so desire) and the necessary participants

The bad people incl muzzlims are encouraged by weakness, not by a televized military execution. I would like it to happen yesterday and would have preferred it be televized. I had as already bought popcorn

I’m happy whether it’s televised or not as long as he is executed.

As with bin Laden, get it over with and dump his body somewhere unceremoniously and anonymously.

The government’s authority derives from the consent of the governed. The theory is that government officials are effectively our agents, acting on our behalf.

So our agents are killing a man in our name. The execution can be made available for all to see at very little cost. Failing to make it available makes a mockery of the whole “consent of the governed” thing.

People who oppose the death penalty do so in part because they believe the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment. They should support making the execution fully accessible to the public as a way to show us how “cruel and unusual” it really is.

They are recruiting for an all midget-dwarf firing squad for the execution.

Is that why they decided not they do a live stream?

Yes. Because the dwarves are going to shoot him in his wheelchair.

The possibility gave us a glimmer of hope that a similar fate awaits the deep state

I suspect the plan all along was to propose the live stream and then rescind it. This results in maximum news attention without the martyr creation.

The left has successfully redefined the word “wicked” from meaning “a purveyor of evil” to “something good” – for example, the execrable movies “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good”. Now it is impossible to apply the word “wicked” to people like Nidal Malik Hasan and have most people know what you are trying to communicate.

The left has successfully redefined the word “wicked” from meaning “a purveyor of evil” to “something good” –

That wasn’t the left. The OED cites F Scott Fitzgerald using it in 1920.

And of course in New England it’s long been used as an intensifier.

Consider “terrific” and “awesome”, both of which used to mean “terrible” but now mean “terribly good”.

In 1946, we (and our allies) had NO ISSUE executing hundreds of Nazis and their collaborators. Why has this vermin been kept alive this long? Liberalism is a mental disorder.

So no Pay-Per-View on this one…

Ezekiel 33:10-11
“Therefore you, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: ‘Thus you say, “If our transgressions and our sins lie upon us, and we pine away in them, how can we then live?” ’ Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Yahweh Elohim, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’”

If God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, neither should we. This does not mean that people like Nidal Malik Hasan should not be executed, but that it is always a tragedy that a person made in the image of God should become so wicked that he must be executed for the sake of justice.

It’s not so much pleasure in the death of the wicked as it is rejoicing/relief in the triumph of justice and good over evil.

Proverbs 11:10: When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

Psalm 58:10: The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.

Perhaps there’s a good use for all those wudu basins after all.

If God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, neither should we.

That does not follow. Proverbs 11:10 says “And when the wicked are lost, there is song”. The Talmud (Megillah 10b) explains: “He does not rejoice, but He makes others rejoice”. Accordingly, when the Egyptians drowned in the Reed Sea, God instructed the angels not to sing, but He instructed the Jews to sing. The angels were not the Egyptians’ victims; the Jews were.

Darn. I was going to scalp tickets. I would have cleaned up!

Executions are grim work. I find it entirely necessary and justified, but grim all the same. It is not a great thing that we do; it is the bare minimum we can offer to the families of victims who had an entire life stolen from them for no good reason. It’s why Coleen Slemmer’s family deserved to see Christa Pike’s head under a steamroller instead of her fighting for survival, intubated in the hospital, being healed with their tax dollars. That’s a cruel parody of justice. Mercy for the merciless.

With all that said, recording and televising an execution is what terrorists and monsters do. It becomes spectacle and pleasure instead of what needs to be done. Hegseth loves chest-beating opportunities like this because for all his bluster, his military campaigns have borne little fruit for our nation and allies. Americans by and large do not share the same need to reaffirm how “badass” we are as a nation, certainly not at the cost of our dignity.

Major props as well to POTUS for rightfully laying blame at the foot of Obama’s FBI for this tragedy as well. We require constant reminders of how that admin worked overtime to get American citizens murdered.

I’m sorry, this is nonsense. Public executions have happened in this country since George Washington. Lincoln had 38 Dakota publicly hanged in 1862 in Mankato, MN, with 2000 troops to prevent the 4000 Minnesotans watching from intervening. (Why is it always Minnesota?) Are they terrorists or monsters? No. They understood deterrence. We’ve become very soft with regard to the death penalty. We hide it and pretend it’s a shameful thing. We don’t execute criminals until 20 years after conviction. As a result, we’ve completely destroyed the deterrent value of the death penalty. It’s not being “badass” to publicly execute criminals. It’s justice and deterrence. Public executions show potential criminals exactly what will happen to them and it shows law abiding citizens that they will be protected by their government and that crimes against them will be punished.

Every execution in this country has civilian witnesses, be it media or whomever,. so if the few can watch, why not the many?

I still think they chose the wrong method of execution. Don’t shoot him, don’t give him the warrior’s death. Hang him like a common criminal.

agree–this guy is a coward not a warrior–my preference would be neither firearms nor rope–still, why give this pos all the publicity, likely exacerbated by the hysterical bought media–don’t give a damn about the criminal but why expose the survivors / families to all the potential nonsense / drama ?–they have suffered enough–why elevate this coward in the bought media worldwide ?–he’s a common criminal / coward, nothing more–execute him and dispose of his remains–end of story

The left would claim it’s racist. I have a compromise that should satisfy everyone: bring back the oubliette. He gets to serve a life sentence… in a small pit, in the dark. Food optional.

The only way to prevent that is obvious.

Can I still purchase ringside seats for the event?

Somewhere between 2.5 and 3 million feral hogs in Texas.

    And they eat anything.

“ Toward a better understanding of patterns in fatal wild pig attacks, we synthesized worldwide reports of wild pig attacks on humans between 2000 and 2019. We documented 163 separate reports of fatal wild pig attacks that resulted in 172 human deaths. On average, 8.6 human deaths occurred annually due to wild pig attacks during those 2 decades. The majority of fatal attacks resulted in a single human death; however, there were 6 cases in which an individual fatal attack resulted in 2–4 human deaths.” – Forest Service USDA, 2033.

A wise move. Imagine the blow-up if it were live streamed. And it would all redound to Trump.

Execute the guy and have done with it and go quiet.
