Jeanine Pirro: Ilhan Omar’s Real Name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi

Jeanine Pirro: Ilhan Omar’s Real Name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi

“So the question is, you know, who is Ilhan Omar, and has she followed all of the laws as it relates to naturalization and immigration?”

U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro told Jesse Watters that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is actually named Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

From the exchange:

WATTERS: Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. Okay, Judge, Ilhan Omar, is that her real name?

PIRRO: Her real name is Ilhan Nur Sayid Elmi. You had it absolutely right. Her sister is Sahra Nur Saeed Elmi, and her sister actually wrote a book and talked about the fact that Ilhan is her sister, so that is her name.

WATTERS: And that name is almost identical to the name of the guy she married, is that what is tipping you off?

PIRRO: Well, obviously, Jesse, I’m not going to tell you what’s tipping us off. But what I can tell you is this: there are a lot of questions that we have, and of course, you know if you have citizenship in this country, your derivative citizenship or your naturalization, your application will turn on precise information, and you have an obligation to report that precise information.

So the question is, you know, who is Ilhan Omar, and has she followed all of the laws as it relates to naturalization and immigration? And of course, you know, my job as the United States Attorney in the District of Columbia is to go after all public corruption, and we do it whether we do it with police officers, or maybe are involved in some kind of fraud, or child sex trafficking, or a councilman who is alleged to take bribes in the amount of $156,000, or a military naval admiral who took bribery, or someone at the Federal Reserve who is selling secrets to China. These are all situations where we make sure that, irrespective of whether you’re a Democrat or you’re a Republican, we’re coming after you, if you lie and if you’re involved in public corruption.

WATTERS: Just to confirm, Ilhan Omar is living and working in Congress under an alias?

PIRRO: Well, you you know you’ll have to ask her what she considers her name. I mean that is something that you know she can definitely tell you. Okay. What we’re concerned about is whether or not she has followed the laws as it relates to the use of these names, and it’s kind of like in Romeo and Juliet. Remember the Capulets and the Montagues. It matters not who you are, but who you are not.

Omar has been a regular in the news since last week, when Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents raided her home as part of a probe into her immigration paperwork.

Speculation over Omar’s name started when sources said her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

Then the dispute over the search warrant began.

The media asked the government to release the search warrant executed at Omar’s D.C. residence as part of a probe into her immigration paperwork.

Rumors have circulated for years that Omar’s ex-husband Ahmed Elmi is her brother and she married him for immigration purposes.

Pirro asked the court to keep the search warrant sealed because the government hasn’t finished executing it.

Pirro’s motion raised more eyebrows because she wrote “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi a/k/ Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.”

After the motion, more sources told Fox News that Ilhan Omar isn’t her real name.

The New York Post published “all the clues” that Omar’s marriage to Elmi was a sham.

The birds are coming home to roost. Ilhole has kept a real low profile since this news has come out. Maybe the truth will be know after all. Who knows she might be crewing a pirate boat, in Somalia, in the future. Yes, I am biased against this fraudulent piece of humanity and her attacks on our country. America love it or leave it. Time to deport her.

Deport her and good riddance.

How scum like her and Jayapal get to be elected is a horrid nightmare to the republic (partially cheating)

Speaking of the creature from Washington State. They are going to vote on a referendum on banning boys competing as girls. In a sane world this ban would pass 90/10. In a mad world it would pass 80/20.
I think it will pass, but I’m dubious it will pass even by 60/40.

Think about that for a minute: A good chunk of voters in a state think it’s ok to let these dangerous little pervs into girls areas and pretend to be girls. How effing sick is that?

This is a referendum- not about some cult of personality like Trump or anyone else- it’s entirely an issue and a law. If it does not pass in a landslide, the active volcanos in that state need to blow simultaniously and “unmake” half of the state’s population. Mostly in King County.

First convict her for submitting false material data on passport application, candidate filing for federal office and so on. Put her in Federal prison for 25-40 years then deport her.

Put her in prison and that gives a future president a chance to commute her sentence or pardon her. Deport her so we can finally be rid of her.

        Bruh,

So Bruce Wayne is not Bruce Wayne simply b/c he decides to call himself by the name Batman? GTFOH. You can choose to call yourself Napoleon Bonaparte if wish but that doesn’t change your legal aka ‘gov’t Name’. Not unless you go to the trouble of going to court and getting a name change, updating SSA and IRS and every other agency, your financial institutions and so on.

For someone who’s always in the weeds on pettifogging legalism you sure seem disinterested in whether the application for entry to the USA needs to have accurate Names and birth dates. Those are definitely material facts.

A person can legally use an alternate name or alias for nearly any purpose but one – to commit fraud.

A person’s legal name is whatever he is known by in society. No paperwork in necessary to make this a legal name. Paperwork is only needed to prove it to the government, which generally won’t just take your word for it. You can prove it in other ways, but it’s usually more difficult than going through the motions of a deed poll.

In this case there’s no question that ever since she entered the USA she’s been using the “Omar” name. And it’s on all her government paperwork, because that’s what her father put down when they arrived. Therefore that is her legal name.

        False.

She was 13 when she was told to use that by her father while applying for asylum to hide that fact that dad was military and slaughterer of thousands.

“Omar” came from an unrelated family who were also seeking asylum and allowed Nur Said Elmi to use the Omar name.

She has known her real name – Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. – her entire life.

          13 is a child.

It doesn’t matter what name she used before. She’s used this name exclusively for the past 35 years or so, ever since she was a child, therefore it is her legal name.

You really enjoy being an insufferable twit, don’t you?

You use speculation and conjecture to build your version of the particular issue or situation as if it were true (I suppose it’s your truth, right?), but you can’t possibly know these things…you’re just creating a fantasy.

Yet when you are presented with actual facts, you dismiss them, and again, make up your own version and invent “facts” that you have absolutely no idea about, and call it the truth.

And when you’re called out on it…as you often are on these pages…you lose your silly mind.

Jayapal wouldn’t stand and give praise to a young black cancer survivor. You can’t hate her enough.

IANAL, but I spent my entire pre-college years operating under my step father’s last name. I didn’t use my own until I went r college.
He never formally adopted me, it was an alias.
When I applied for security clearances, I simply disclosed it. No problem. It was not an uncommon situation among war orphans, which I was.
My understanding is that use of an alias is perfectly legal unless the purpose is to defraud.
So— the question is: does running for, becoming a Congressperson under an alias break the law?
I know what the answer would be if it were a Conservative white male. There is always a law somewhere if they want to get you.

So— the question is: does running for, becoming a Congressperson under an alias break the law?

    It depends.

Each state has their own regulations for how names appear on the ballot for non-national elections.

For Minnesota, the applicable statute is 2048.06:

3(b) (b) An affidavit of candidacy must include a statement that the candidate’s name as written on the affidavit for ballot designation is the candidate’s true name or the name by which the candidate is commonly and generally known in the community and:…..

Part of the problem is that people will want names on the ballots that will increase their appeal to voters based on that name, rather than their “real” name. You may remember one “James Earl Carter” who petitioned to be allowed to run under the name “Jimmy Carter” in part because it gave the impression that “Jimmy” was a good ol’ boy, while “James” was a stuffy person.

In short if ” Ilhan Omar” can make the case that is the name she is known by in the community, it appears that would be legal under Minnesota law for that name to be on the ballot.

There are other considerations though such as “official” government documents for entry into the US, taxes, etc. where one must use their legal name. In most cases it is illegal to obtain a driver’s license without disclosing your true, legal name.

In Minnesota, running for office using another name can be legal.

That (relevance) is precisely the question. Using an alias is not in and of itself criminal. Gitarcarver makes the case that it is arguably legal in Minnesota to run for office under a name by which you are commonly known.
I would suggest that Jimmy/James is an easier lift than Omar/Nur Said Elmi, but who knows?
There is a lot of fuss–appropriately– but is there any crime there?

I believe there was a chain of fraudulent representations that started when her father used an alias to enter this country and didn’t disclose his background (as an operative of the oppressive Somali government). Ilhan, whose naturalization is derived from her father’s naturalization, continued the fraud by using an assumed name (possibly to avoid drawing attention to her father’s use of an assumed name).

The entire episode of the family’s character in Somalia (did dad work for the oppressive regime and what did he do for it?), their entry into this country, and their subsequent naturalization (if that happened at all) appears to be a chain of one fraudulent representation after another.

Her using the name is not a fraud. It’s her legal name now, regardless of her birth name.

Her citizenship status, however, doesn’t depend on whether she committed any crimes. If it’s true that she was never naturalized in her own right but was included in her father’s naturalization, and it turns out that her father was never validly naturalized, or was never naturalized at all, or that he was but she was already an adult (even if she honestly believed otherwise), then she is not a US citizen. This would be the case even if she never did anything wrong, and it were completely not her fault.

If, however, she did become a citizen, either by getting her own naturalization, or by being validly included in her father’s valid naturalization, then nothing she did subsequently, even outright crimes, even immigration fraud, would not affect it.

So what matters is not her own guilt or innocence, but the facts. And we don’t know them; we’re just speculating.

Waiting for PIrro to sink her claws in.

Federal crime must be tried in the district where the offense is alleged to have occurred. For almost any conceivable charges against Omar that would be the District of Minnesota. So the chance of 12 Dems getting picked is somewhat less than it is in DC.

I would bet that’s not entirely true. There’s a nexus with the operation of the federal government and applications made on federal forms, invoking federal privileges and permissions. Some of those forms may have been filled out before even entering the country. If the fraud started with such forms, the entire matter downstream from them may be cognizable in D.C..

I await your counter. (I do appreciate you.)

She can’t be charged with anything done before she entered the country, both because the statute has long passed, and because she was a child at the time, and thus didn’t do anything. What happened all those years ago can be relevant to her citizenship status, but not to criminal charges.

And the constitution explicitly requires that federal crimes be charged in the district where they occurred. No “nexus” can change that. There’s almost no crime she could have committed anywhere but in Minnesota.

Milhouse | October 23, 2026 at 1:51 pm

This whole post is confused.

We’ve known for years that her name at birth was very likely Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. That is the basis on which we knew that her purported “second husband” is actually her brother.

But that doesn’t make it her “real name”. There is no question that since she arrived in the USA, at the age of approximately 12 (maybe 13 or 14) she has been known as Ilhan Omar. That’s the name she’s used for all purposes, both inside her community and outside it, and what everyone has called her. Therefore that’s legally her name, and she committed no offense simply by using it; there doesn’t seem to be any evidence that she ever used it for the purpose of defrauding anyone.

The fact that this alias appears on the warrant doesn’t itself prove anything. It certainly doesn’t prove that the magistrate endorsed it; he simply signed what the prosecutors presented to him. The purpose of including it on the sealed warrant seems to be precisely so that it would be published and the public would be exposed to the idea that this was a name she was known by at one time. The rest of the warrant is sealed, but the names are open, so this would get out, and there’s nothing the magistrate could really do about that.

We’ve known for years that her name at birth was very likely Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

Agreed. The birth name is her legal name until changed legally in the courts or by marriage.

Therefore that’s legally her name, and she committed no offense simply by using it; there doesn’t seem to be any evidence that she ever used it for the purpose of defrauding anyone.

No, it is not her legal name. Her legal name is the name given to her at her birth. The name she used here would be her “nick name” or “alias.”

On form N-300, which is the form to declare ones intention to enter the country and stay here, it asks for your current legal name (which would be the name at birth unless changed by the courts or marriage) and then any other name that the person goes by. (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/n-300.pdf)

    The reason is simple……

If you want to come into this country, the US has the right (and some would say the duty) to investigate your criminal background in the country of your origin.

Giving a false name – a nickname or the name you go by – thwarts that investigation.

It appears that Minnesota law allows her to run for office under the name by which she is known, but getting into the country requires her real, legal name.

The birth name is her legal name until changed legally in the courts or by marriage.

That is not true. A person’s legal name is the name by which they are known to the public. In this case not only was it the name everyone knew her by, it was also the name on her government paperwork. That certainly makes it her legal name regardless of how that came to be.

On form N-300, which is the form to declare ones intention to enter the country and stay here,

No, it isn’t. And there’s no reason to suppose she ever filed such a form.

The N-300 is a form one may choose to file, not when entering the country but before filing for naturalization. One may file for naturalization without this form; it’s completely optional. And if it’s true that she never naturalized on her own but assumed (correctly or incorrectly) that she was included in her father’s, then she would not have had any occasion to file a N-300 even if she wanted to. In addition, if she ever did file one, her legal name at that time would already have been Ilhan Omar, not her birth name.

It is and remains the absolute truth that once validly naturalized there is indeed no way, none, that once naturalized someone can not be denaturalized and deported. The supreme court has said this over and over and over. Anyone who claims otherwise is a damned liar.

I have never written this fact on this forum without including the key word “validly”. You know this very well, and dishonestly omitted it, because you are a dishonest person.

it isn’t about what she calls herself now or if she married her brother or married you—it’s about whether she is the daughter / granddaughter of a know war criminal that fled his country to avoid prosecution and used subterfuge to conceal his identity from authorities here in order to obtain citizenship—if she is and he did, as appears to be the case, then everything that flows from that fraud of his corrupts / invalidates everything else

      1. We’re talking her about criminal prosecution, so what you wrote here is just not true. Nothing her father did can create criminal liability for her.

      2. Even if you want to switch to her citizenship status, it’s still not true that whatever her father did invalidates everything else. If she applied for naturalization in her own right, nothing her father did would be relevant. Her father’s acts are only relevant if it’s true that she never was naturalized on her own, but was included in his. In that case, if his was invalid, or if he never bothered doing it at all but merely told everyone he had, or if his was valid but she was already an adult (even if she didn’t know it), then she’s not a citizen. Because citizenship doesn’t depend on guilt or innocence; all that matters is whether there was a valid naturalization.

But really — what’s in a name?

Hell, Bubba’s third-grade teacher will even do it FOR him, without telling his momma and daddy.
