One Year Without Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk and TPUSA are stronger. His loss did not diminish or destroy his hard work.
Charlie Kirk. 31-years-old. Devoted husband to Erika and two small children.
Some people consider Kirk polarizing, which I don’t understand. Kirk always showed respect and kindness. Never showed judgment towards anyone with a different opinion. If you disagreed with him, he would speak to you like an adult.
Kirk really embraced Andrew Breitbart’s message: More voices.
Kirk showcased his talent through his organization, Turning Point USA (TPUSA), which he built from the ground up.
We all remember him traveling to universities and encouraging conversations. No violence. No disrespect.
Unfortunately, at Utah Valley University, a man shot and murdered Kirk in front of 3,000 people on September 10, 2025.
However, the assassination only made Kirk and TPUSA stronger.
Interest in Turning Point USA grew bigly after we lost Kirk. More colleges have petitioned to open a TPUSA chapter. High schools opened chapters. So much growth:
Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for Turning Point, said Kirk had watched frustration among young voters build last year over the administration’s handling of the Epstein files and the strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, with persistent cost-of-living pressures deepening the discontent.
“Charlie saw these fault lines emerging and was messaging to it,” said Kolvet, a close friend of Kirk’s.
Despite those challenges, Turning Point’s growth has accelerated over the past year. The group now has more than 3,500 high school chapters nationwide, up 180%, and more than 1,500 college chapters, up more than 60%, Kolvet said.
“It’s happened amidst a broader political environment where there are obvious headwinds,” he said. “I think it’s a testament to his legacy and the team here.”
The left has resisted the expansion, but students keep fighting for their right to free speech.

The Party’s leaders are wizened, weak and not long for this earth. The Mohammedan/Islamofascist/communist “Democratic Socialists” have fanaticism, terroristic thuggery, loud agitprop volume and attention-getting histrionics and agitation, on their side. Their young acolytes demand violence in order to effect “the Revolution” and “Social Justice.”
I lost a friend of 20 years because of his response to the assassination He’s a Latin-American American; born in Cuba as Castro emerged but in the U.S. since age 16 after a detour through Spain for a Jesuit education. Naturally he became a lawyer. We disagreed on politics over the years – he drifted left while I drifted right.
Always emotionally pliable he fell into the TDS abyss but well okay; I teased him about it and there’s nothing more fun than using logic against a flailing Jesuit AND attorney. Poke the crocodile in the snout with a short stick? Hell yeah.
But finally to the point: he was actually rejoicing at the death of Charlie Kirk and I was horrified. I asked him, “You are okay with the murder of someone because you disagree with their opinions?” He responded, “Yes if they are wrong.”
I told him that I am ashamed of him and that I could never talk to him again…and I haven’t.
This whole affair frightened me more than the assassination itself.
It wouldn’t be so bad if people like that were few and far between. But alas, they are everywhere I look these days.
That’s an unfortunate end to a friendship, but you deserve credit for doing the right thing.
A person who gleefully celebrates the murder of a person merely because the victim held and expressed different political views, is not someone I or anyone else possessing rationality and moral probity would want to associate with, personally or professionally.
