Mehdi Hasan Floats Loyalty Test for Jewish Democrats Who Don’t Support El-Sayed
“…liberal American Jews who don’t support what Israel is doing may want to ask why their community and political leaders are so bent on protecting Israel that they’re willing to back MAGA and engage in anti-Muslim bigotry.”
The dual loyalty charge is one of, if not the oldest, antisemitic tropes, used against the Jewish community and, as the ADL notes, it “has been used to harass, marginalize, and persecute the Jewish people for centuries.”
“The most prominent examples of the disloyalty charge in the U.S.,” they also wrote, “have alleged that Jews conspired to involve America in foreign wars against the nation’s true interest.”
Because the United States has stood with Israel throughout the Israel-Hamas war, which was instigated by Hamas terrorists murdering over 1,000 innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023, and taking 251 people hostage, the escalation in antisemitism in the form of hate crime attacks and accusations of dual loyalty against Jewish Americans (including some members of Congress) became even more pronounced.
It was made all the more “acceptable” in certain circles to do so thanks in part to the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), whose members include Zohran Mamdani, the anti-Israel, antisemitic mayor of New York City, which is home to millions of Jews. Some DSA House candidates in New York whom Mamdani endorsed and who share his views on Israel won their primary races and will likely go on to serve in Congress.
Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan is among the left-wing media types who support Mamdani and who also share his views about Jews and Israel. Accordingly, Hasan, founder of the Zeteo media company, has also spent time promoting the candidacy of Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
On the topic of Jews and Israel, the mindset of El-Sayed, of course, falls right in line with Mamdani’s and the DSAs. But Michigan is not New York, and as such, Michigan Democrats, including those in the Jewish community, are deeply divided over his candidacy, with El-Sayed only narrowly defeating Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) by 5,000 votes of the over 1.5 million cast.
El-Sayed’s primary victory prompted an outreach effort that was already in motion well before the votes were tallied, with Jewish and other disaffected Democrats vowing to support GOP nominee Mike Rogers and fundraise on his behalf to try to prevent El-Sayed from winning in November.
- Mike Rogers Begins Outreach to Michigan Democrats Who Don’t Support El-Sayed
- Jewish Michigan Dems Set to Hold Fundraiser for Mike Rogers As Outreach Continues
This has enraged Hasan, who is now floating a loyalty test not just for Jewish Democrats who don’t support El-Sayed but also for those “who don’t support what Israel is doing” who, in his view, should be putting pressure on anti-El-Sayed Jews, insinuating that both are engaging in “anti-Muslim bigotry”:

So it’s choose suicidal empathy and Democratic Party loyalty, or risk being viewed as an anti-Muslim bigot, in Hasan’s view.
That… did not land well:
Liberal American Jews don’t owe the Democrats blind loyalty. Prioritizing our own community’s safety isn’t selling out to MAGA. Stop treating Jewish voters like defective Democrats when we refuse to put party over survival. https://t.co/VBWgwegqIb

Opposing Muslim antisemitism -beginning with their ridiculous obsession with Israel- isn’t "bigotry"; it’s fighting bigotry.
At some point Muslims in the West might want to start dealing with their societal pathological Jew-hatred. It’s only backfiring; time is running out. https://t.co/vZ83cXCzJy

At some point, radical antisemites like Mehdi will stop trying to speak for the majority of the Jewish community and listen when Jewish leaders call out extremists like Abdul El-Sayed.
It's because of Mehdi and Hasan that lifelong Democrats like us are supporting Mike Rogers. https://t.co/3UHC5nv8tm

From another X user:
Mehdi Hasan sees Jews refusing to support his preferred Muslim candidate and immediately screams “anti-Muslim bigotry.”
What a cheap little con.
Abdul El-Sayed won’t even affirm Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and has questioned whether a Jewish state is compatible with liberal values. Michigan Jews are allowed to look at that record and say: no thanks.
They don’t owe Mehdi their votes. And smearing Jews as bigots because they won’t fall in line for El-Sayed is filthy identity-politics bullshit.

It’s not anti-Muslim to not want a terrorist supporter, whose mother worked for a group that helped fun Bin Laden, in the US Senate.
Al-Sayed’s core beliefs are antithetical to every the United States was founded on.

In the leftist punditocracy battle over who could be more hate-filled and anti-America/Israel, Mehdi Hasan is getting almost as bad as Hasan Piker, and that is not an exaggeration.

I’m 1000% in favor of a loyalty test – for muslims. Put your citizenship on the line Hasan. Denounce sharia law. Denounce muslim superiority. Denounce Islamic terrorism against Israel and the US. Affirm Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish nation. Do so or forfeit your US citizenship and be deported to the islamic hellhole of your choice.
And don’t forget to make him publicly denounce Sharia law. While reading the following, I remind you of this: “Taqiyya is a concept in Islamic jurisprudence that permits Muslims to conceal their faith or lie under specific circumstances of extreme duress or threat of persecution.” Define “duress or threat of persecution.”
To wit:
“Abdul El-Sayed states he is personally religiously obligated to follow Sharia law in his private life but opposes implementing it as U.S. law. He argues that legislative efforts to preemptively ban Sharia are discriminatory measures rooted in white supremacy rather than legitimate constitutional concerns.
Personal Obligation vs. Public Policy. In a 2009 interview, El-Sayed declared a sacred “obligation” to follow Sharia-compliant practices, such as avoiding interest-bearing loans, until he dies. However, his campaign clarifies that while he lives by his faith, he opposes any effort by religious communities to write faith laws into the country’s legal code.
Controversial Comparisons. During a 2022 speech, El-Sayed claimed that opposition to Sharia law cannot be understood apart from historical injustices like the Trail of Tears and the Tulsa massacre, asserting these bans are driven by animus toward Muslims. Critics, including Vice President JD Vance, argue this rhetoric equates constitutional debate with genocide, while El-Sayed maintains that less than 1% of Americans are Muslim and nobody is trying to push Sharia law on the broader population.”
I cannot imagine one single Jew voting for this muslim radical. Like ALL muslims, his mask will come off the minute his filthy cult becomes the majority. Voting for a muslim to a Jew is akin to voting for a Nazi!
In every country in which Muslims are in the minority, they demand their “minority” rights.
In every country in which Muslims are in the majority, there are no “minority” rights.
There is no minority to worry about rights.
That isn’t true. Moslem countries generally do have non-Moslem minorities, and they even have rights of sorts, but nothing like equal rights. They’re either not citizens, or very much second class ones.
“and they even have rights of sorts”
They have no rights whatsoever. They are ALLOWED to exist. They are allowed to worship, except when they aren’t. They might be heavily oppressed or not entirely at the whim of the rulers. They don’t even rise to the level of second-class citizens.
More like third class after muslim men and muslim women.
So you are referring to “dhimmis.”
To wit: In exchange for the protection of the Islamic state, dhimmis were expected to pay a special tax, called the jizya, i.e. protection money.
I do not believe that Israel charges Muslims a special tax to live there. In fact, they give Muslims rights and privileges they do not get in Arab countries.
I can imagine lots of them doing so. They have as a group voted for Democrats that are very much the same as this guy for decades.
Really. Name the mouth breathing socialist muslim nazis Jews have voted for in the past.
I’ll wait for your answer.
To be fair in the NYC Mayoral contest the breakdown for exit polling among ‘Jewish’ voters for major candidates was reportedly:
1. Mamdani 33% d/prog/DSA
2. Cuomo 63% Indy in the general but had been defeated by Mamdani in the d/prog primary
3. Sliwa 3% GoP
So even with an option to vote for a GoP candidate (Admittedly a kooky raspberry beret wearing one) they rejected the more ‘tough on crime’/common sense’ guy and overwhelmingly backed Cuomo the former d/prog Gov …but still gave Mamdani who fits the bill as a ‘mouth breathing socialist Muslim’ (not sure about Nazi but definitely ain’t overly friendly towards Jews and obviously despises Israel) at a rate of 11 to 1 over the GoP alternative. That can’t be dismissed away as ‘oh, it was a weird election cycle’. People had adult choices to make and they gotta live with the outcome.
The real issue here is the prior decades of support for d/prog candidates turning blue jurisdictions into effectively one party ruled areas. Now the deranged socialists with a fondness for Hamas and the ‘palestinians’ and antipathy towards Israel like Mamdani are leveraging that electoral reality; that the winner of the d/prog primary is the de facto winner of the general.
So while ‘only’ 33% supported Mamdani another 63% also refused to support the GoP alternate and instead supported the former d/prog Gov who wasn’t fooling anyone with his Indy run …he was gonna run NYC according to d/prog policy preferences just the kind that were fine five years ago when he was Gov as opposed to the socialist rebranded ones of the more strident DSA types.
Cnief, Cuomo was the only candidate who had a chance of defeating Mamdani. And there was no ranked choice voting; it was first past the post. So a vote for Sliwa was effectively half a vote for Mamdani. In that situation I held my nose and voted for the granny-killer, and considered it my duty to do so.
Had there been ranked choice, I would have ranked Cuomo second-last and Mamdani last, but that would still have been a vote for Cuomo, because none of the other candidates mattered. The only advantage would have been that I wouldn’t have felt dirty.
Cuomo is a D, and would have run the city like a D, but he is not particularly antisemitic, and certainly knows how to get along with Jews, so a vote for him does not qualify as “voted for Democrats that are very much the same as this guy”.
Milhouse,
In a comment ztakddot demanded an example of a ‘mouth breathing socialist Muslim nazi’ that ‘Jews’ had supported. I made no reference to the post ztakddot replied to.
The answer is Mamdani. 33% of NYC Jewish support in the mayoral general election went to Mamdani while another 63% voted not for the GoP candidate but for the d/prog Cuomo who was running as an Indy.
Chance of victory wasn’t part of the criteria established by ztakddot. In fact your post in seeking to mitigate the undisputed fact of lack of Jewish voter support for the GoP candidate works to buttress my larger point about PRIOR decades of political support to d/prog creating an effective one party control and making the d/prog primary winner the defacto winner of the election cycle.
Lots of other voters in many deep blue d/prog one party bastions have done exactly the same thing, creating the same conditions and outcomes. Whatever else occurred in that Mayoral race the salient point is that only 3% of ‘Jewish’ voters supported the GoP candidate while a full 1/3 supported Mamdani and nearly 2/3 supported a corrupt former d/prog Gov who was forced out of office.
As I understand the voters turnout was low. I can’t help but think many refused to vote because of the person that put many seniors with Covid in care facilities causing more deaths.
Well you are correct. I should have specified prior to 2025. Slick ‘mouth breathing socialist Muslim nazi’s are a recent phenomenon. Jews have certainly voted for Socialists in the past and they may have voted for main stream muslims but these are turds of a different stripe (?).
The original comment was
“They have as a group voted for Democrats that are very much the same as this guy for decades.”
and frankly that isn’t true because we haven’t had such people for decades and this is a borderline antisemitic comment in my opinion similar to those who whine on just about every thread they can that Jews vote democrat. I personally find that action disgusting but saying that everytime is really annoying. They should say what they really mean and we all know what they really mean.
“I cannot imagine one single Jew voting for this muslim radical.”
I can. Darn it.
Jewish democrat = suicidal democrat.
You mean like Gays for Gaza? 😉
The first time I heard the “Offending me, etc.) was in the early 1990’s when Muslims were introduced to MN. Don’t recall ever previously hearing itthough I’ve worked with people from well over 55 nations/cultures, etc. and traveled to Europe and parts of Asia. I blew it off. Welllllll, that was unwise. I’d worked with these Muslims for awhile but something changed in the 201N teens.
They believe they are they are better than all the rest of us. Yet, they don’t want our education. They can murder anyone who leaves their Islamic faith or an infidel of any sort. That’s ok.
But freedom, free thinking, making ones own decisions – nope. Top down, tribal directions. I recall a Muslim who told me, “We don’t understand this freedom thing. We were always told what to do and how to think,” This line of “thinking” is antithetical to the Jewish and much of the western mind set.
Their leaders will never understand this nor apply it. The masters of “my way or the highway.” Wake up, America.
I would support a bucket of horse pee thrown right in Hasan’s face. He needs to go to hell and take his rag head cult with him.
Bacon fat fresh from the skillet is a permanent message.
Why does it have to be fresh? What’s wrong with day old bacon grease?
Because, it likely has been sitting in the pan and is congealed and cold. When it’s nice and hot, it’s easier to throw.
Sticks like napalm too, although melted cheese is still superior for that…
I see. Fresh probably smells better too. But with fresh, you have to be careful not to get it on your fur.
Hasan is right that “liberal American Jews who don’t support what Israel is doing”, i.e. preventing Holocaust Part II, should wholeheartedly support El-Sayed and denounce those who are “defecting” to Rogers.
The thing is that the vast majority of even liberal American Jews do support Israel and what it’s doing. And they are correctly supporting Rogers.
Hasan’s call only applies to a negligible number of people, most of whom are either not Jewish at all, or are Jewish by birth only and it means nothing to them.
Do I read correctly that you are predicting a “vast majority” of even liberal Jews will vote for Rogers?
Hell will have frozen over.
Yes, I do predict that. And those who just can’t bring themselves to do that will leave the senate race blank, or write someone in. The only Jews who will vote for El-Sayed will be those to whom being Jewish means nothing, many of whom aren’t actually Jewish at all but merely identify themselves that way for various reasons. Such as the “As-a-Jews”.
I just hope they don’t sit home and not vote. Then the Gen Z crowd would be making the decision, and they probably love El-Sayed.
You are correct. That group has been brainwashed into believing that Socialism/Communism is ok and good. That could not be further from the truth.
That generation is so ignorant and uneducated to the truth.
From your lips to God’s ears…. unfortunately, I have seen to much leftist programming, propaganda and maleducation to believe the numbers of Jews, Southeast Asian Indians and LGBetc’s will not vote for the Demsocialist and blindly support their antisemitism wrapped in projection.
But I can still be optimistic….
“Loyalty Tests” are very Authoritiarian. Like, USSR and Communist China authoritarian. Like, dissapear in the night Authoritarian.
When the Democrats take Congrsss they will form up HUAC. House Un-Islamic Activities Committee.
The original HUAC was established by the Dems to go after so-called “fascists”. The chairman was a Jewish Dem who turned out to have been a Soviet spy.
Yes. The same committee that used Red Channels as their source for who was a communist and who was not.
Just like in later years the SPLC was considered credible.
Loyalty tests to political parties are not particularly authoritarian. Parties rightly expect loyalty from their would-be members. If you’re not loyal to the Dems, don’t call yourself a Dem. Join the real world instead.
OK. Are the DSA “loyal’ to the Dems? Most would say they are not. So say this to the DSA members: If you’re not loyal to the Dems, don’t call yourself a Dem. Join the real world instead (IOW form your own communist party).
So long as the DSA supports endorsed Dem candidates even when they defeated their own candidate in the primary, or at least does not oppose them, they are loyal to the Dems. If they lose a primary and decide to support the opponent in the general, that would be disloyal to their party.
Democrats do more than tolerate them, they willingly accept them in order to gain a controlling majority. Once leftists gain majority control, they will enforce loyalty tests on remaining democrats and they will have no one to blame but themselves.
They do kind of shoot their “Big Tent” talking point in the @$$, though.
No, because the one rule of any big tent, the rule that’s the whole point of having a big tent, is that once the internal conflict is done and the tent’s candidates have been selected, everyone in the tent must support those candidates, or at least sit it out. Opposing an endorsed candidate means you’re not in the tent and there’s no point in wanting you there.
“may want to ask why their community and political leaders are so bent on protecting Israel that they’re willing to back MAGA and engage in anti-Muslim bigotry.”
Because only one of those stances is batsh1t suicidal, and (hint) — it ain’t MAGA.
Islam is a cancer in the West. Stop importing these people.
Islam is a cancer in the West. Stop importing these people.
Islam is a cancer in the West. Stop importing these people.
I have a great idea. Stop importing these people because islam is a cancer. Period. It has been warring with the house of war (infidels) for 1400 years. It’s holy book specifically tells its adherents to hunt jews, find jews, kill jews, and then kill more jews.
Muslims will not stop their blood feud with the house of war (infidels) – jews in particular – simply because they touched the magic dirt of America.
Islam is a cancer. Stop importing these people.
“Islam is a cancer in the West.”
Good heavens! Islam is a cancer everywhere in the world. And if it were to be taken on SpaceX, it would be a cancer everywhere in the galaxy.
It used to be that loyalty tests were for the leaders and if the voters don’t support them—don’t think they are loyal—they vote for somebody else.
Now it’s the voters who are supposed to be loyal to the leaders—regardless.
Interesting electoral tactics from Mehdi Hasan. Instead of earning the votes he’s gonna name call the voters who are less enthusiastic for his candidates.
Deniers, phobes, racists, supremacists, granny-killers. You make it sound like it’s something new.
Well new-ish or perhaps more like what’s old is new again with the thinly veiled antisemitic tropes but the new twist is it’s coming from inside the d/prog ‘big tent’. So much for collegiality much less tolerance inside the d/prog cult. Usually they keep this stuff on the DL not putting it out for public consumption unless they really want to ID the target for further action by their neo brown shirt goons.
That face dont just belong in the US of A!
Go back to whatever nasty muck hole you crawled out of, buddy.
That would be Swindon, Wiltshire, in South West England.
If a hyena spends time at a British zoo, it doesn’t make it english.
Not sure there is a zoo in Swindon.
What about 45 americans murdered by hamas because they were tourists or visiting relatives?
Anti-Muslim bigotry? Mmkay…
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”
The worst of Bigot-shaming comes from massive bigots themselves. Projection and hypocrisy. Pay them no heed. Ignore the ignorance.
Yet again anti-Semites insist Jews need to work for their freedom.
#ArbeitMachtFrei-DemocratAmerica2026
Jewish guilt–and they fall for it everytime someone pulls the strings to “shame” them into experiencing it.
I would love to see a law passed that states ONLY Americans can run for Political office. It would eliminate a lot of the garbage being elected out there by people who don’t hold our values, believe in our Constitution, and really don’t like America !
Wasn’t it muslim hamas that invaded Israel and slaughtered unarmed men, women and children? Tell me how these terrorists deserve support and not spending the rest of their lives in a prison cell.
You know, if you go to Muslim bookstores, you’ll sometimes see Mein Kampf featured predominantly. Like this one in London!

They were big fans of Hitler who recruited two SS divisions of Muslims in WWII.
