Fired ’60 Minutes’ Journalist Scott Pelley Hired by Columbia School of Journalism

Scott Pelley was fired from the CBS News program ’60 Minutes’ in June for what basically amounted to open insubordination. He has spent every moment since then complaining to anyone else in the media who will listen.
Now he has landed a new job as a ‘journalist in residence’ at the Columbia School of Journalism. How perfect.
Sharyn Alfonsi, who was also fired from the show, was also hired for the same role.

Recently fired “60 Minutes” correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Scott Pelley have found a safe space, landing at Columbia Journalism School (CJS) for the 2026–27 academic year.
Alfonsi and Pelley, who were shown the door from “60 Minutes” after clashing with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and objecting to attempts to tamp down the partisanship at the iconic newsmagazine, will serve at the historically liberal-yet-celebrated home to the Pulitzer Prize as journalists-in-residence, the school announced Monday.
Alfonsi and Pelley will “work closely with students, individually and as a group, through lectures, workshops and special events designed to sharpen their reporting, investigative and sourcing skills,” according to CJS. They will also contribute to the Columbia Journalism Review.
“This is a critical time for a free press,” Pelley said in a statement. “Columbia is leading the way in training the next generation of great journalists, and I am honored to join Sharyn in that vital cause.”
The Media Research Center believes “Columbia’s journalism program is not committed to honest journalism” and instead “delivers a one-sided education that celebrates left-wing policies and is overwhelmingly run by liberal journalists.”
The school released this statement:
Columbia Journalism School (CJS) is pleased to welcome two accomplished investigative reporters this fall. Award-winning journalists Sharyn Alfonsi and Scott Pelley have been appointed Journalists in Residence for the 2026–27 academic year.
The appointments are part of the CJS2030: Democracy Initiative, a pillar of Dean Jelani Cobb’s vision for the J-School’s next decade. The initiative draws on classroom training and the work of CJS centers to strengthen accountability reporting and journalism’s role in sustaining democracy.
During their residency, Alfonsi and Pelley will work closely with students, individually and as a group, through lectures, workshops and special events designed to sharpen their reporting, investigative and sourcing skills. They will also each contribute a piece to the Columbia Journalism Review. Their appointments give CJS students access to two journalists whose reporting has shaped the national conversation for decades. Alfonsi and Pelley have covered many of the defining stories of our time—from war and politics to public health, criminal justice and international affairs.
“We’re both excited and honored to welcome two journalists of this caliber to our Journalist in Residence Program,” said Jelani Cobb, Dean and Henry R. Luce Professor of Journalism. “Their distinguished track records in investigative reporting highlight the amazing opportunity our students will have to learn from them, and we look forward to having Sharyn and Scott with us this year.”
Higher education is a jobs program for unemployed journalists and Democrat politicians. It’s why Joe Biden’s DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas just landed a role as a fellow at Harvard.

DePaul University hired Carol Mosley Braun to teach in its law school. Those of us who detested her for running a ghost payroll scam while she was in the Senate joked that she would probably teach legal ethics. Then it turned out to be true! I later learned from a dean that DePaul lost 60% of it’s alumni donations that year, thanks to its hypocrisy.
Well, we/ve raised three or four generations of kids who know next to nothing about our Founding – its freedom, uniqueness and basic honesty. Yes, people break the law but the FOUNDATION is still the best ever designed.
