Mojtaba Khamenei Vows to ‘Avenge’ His Father ‘Soon’ as Trump Warns of Swift Retaliation to Any Assassination Attempt

Iran’s new “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has vowed to “avenge” the killing of his father and former Iranian tyrant, Ali Khamenei. Mojtaba, who failed to show up at his father’s funeral, declared in a written message that agents of the Iranian regime spread “across the world” were prepared to carry out a revenge attack “soon.”
“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” Khamenei Jr said. “Whether we are here or not, this will be achieved, and soon individuals among the freedom-seekers across the world will each carry out part of this divine mission.”

The threat from the top regime leader came a day after Israel alerted the U.S. to an impending assassination attempt against President Donald Trump. During Khamenei’s weeklong funeral ceremony, regime officials and mourners repeatedly called for the murder of the U.S president.

Iran’s supreme leader has vowed to take revenge over the death of his father.
Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said avenging his slain predecessor was “the demand of the nation” and “must certainly” take place.
The comments were made in a written message released on his Telegram account.
Khamenei issued the message following the funeral of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which was held months after he was killed in US-Israeli airstrikes on 28 February.
“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” Khamenei said in the message.
Although Iranian state media previously broadcast written messages from Mojtaba, he had never appeared in public or released a recorded statement, raising doubts about his health and leadership capacity.
Ahead of Mojtaba’s statement, President Trump warned Tehran that any attempt to harm him would result in a swift and massive military retaliation.

Iran, the world’s biggest state sponsor of terrorism, has proxy terrorist groups across the Muslim world and has been carrying out terrorist activities in countries of South and Central America.
This won’t be the first Iranian attempt to target President Trump on American soil. In 2024, U.S. law enforcement busted a three-member Iranian-backed terrorist cell plotting to kill the president. Since President Trump’s first term, top Iranian regime officials, including Khamenei, have called for his assassination.
In mid-2025, senior Iranian clerics issued a fatwa, or a religious edict, for the murder of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu. The fatwa declares President Trump an “enemy of Allah” and offers rewards in the afterlife to his would-be assassins.
