Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the 5th Amendment to avoid answering questions over COVID during a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing:
members of the committee, I served at the NIH for over 54 years, 38 of those as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Over that period, I proved that I believe in and respect the value of legitimate congressional oversight. In fact, I testified before and/or briefed Senate and House congressional Senate and House committees, well over 200 times over those 38 years.
During and after the COVID pandemic, I have appeared multiple times for hearings in the Senate and the House, usually under oath, and sat for several days-long transcribed sworn interviews, answering questions about the very issues that are now the subject of this hearing.
However, given Senator Paul’s obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution, his repeated slanderous comments about me, and recently his publicly releasing my unredacted personal diary aimed at embarrassing and intimidating me, the only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this committee is to get me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, quote, “behind bars.” Any reasonable person who has followed his unhinged obsession with me would readily come to the same conclusion.
Therefore, although it pains me to do so, because of the respect I have for the legislative branch of government and my decades-long record of cooperating with Congress, under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions.

You can invoke the Fifth on specific questions or specific topics that could be self-incriminating, while answering other non-incriminating questions. A blanket refusal to answer everything is generally not proper unless the whole subject matter would tend to incriminate you.
Therefore, everything about covid…from beginning to end….incriminates Fauci. It is the only conclusion to draw.
Furthermore, you cannot use the Fifth to answer selectively in a way that creates unfairness or waives the privilege on related topics. Also, if you testify on a subject, you may lose the ability to refuse related follow-up questions on that same subject in some settings.

That’s limited though to a situation where under questioning someone invoked 5A then later in interview answers a question then keeps on answering questions and seeks to have the answers ruled out. So if someone answers a question he isn’t compelled to answer other questions. All he’s gotta do is assert the 5A again on a subsequent question. The 5A isn’t a one time/all or nothing ‘home base’ where if you take your foot off to answer a question you’ve lost the ability to assert it again. Even if it were the answers to subsequent questions can be evasive ‘I don’t recall’ or ‘the premise of the question is false’ or ‘that’s not how I remember it’.
“What day of the week is it?” isn’t a covid question.
Unfortunately, SCOTUS in Salinas ruled that selective invoking of the fifth can be used against you. Even a first year law student would have advised Fauci to clam up completely.
I change my upvote. I watched the hearing and think it deserves to be seen by all America. Fauci did not answer a single question. Frequently he looked like he wasn’t even paying attention and at other times he looked like he would cave. He was skewered by the Republicans who stated facts and gave real examples of the destruction he brought upon the entire country. The hearing will continue next week when they decide on putting Fauci in contempt of court. He deserves whatever misery he may (or may not) be experiencing.

Viruses certainly do ride out on “spit.” But when moisture is made airborne, the environment rapidly evaporates it. An uncontaminated 5 micron drop of water totally evaporates in under second in what might be considered typical of temperate climates. If it’s contaminated, it will evaporate to a sub-micron size that will remain airborne indefinitely, carrying its original load of contaminants. In what form the liquid first becomes airborne isn’t really a factor and, without doubt, people more frequently breathe than sing.

2. Slow the spread
The progression of transmission did not vary significantly between States that practiced various mitigation efforts and those that did not. Period. End of story. This played out in real time as COVID testing tracked multiple spikes across the country. For instance, States that established mask mandates during a nascent spike had rising rates of infection that were not deflected by their mandates, ultimately having rates of infection that were not substantially different than those of States that had no such mandates. There was never any evidence that mask wearing anywhere affected the rise and fall of waves of infection. This applies to all forms of attempted mitigation. None of them showed any significant effect on the pandemic or its effects on populations. Entire countries did not mandate any mitigation. Most had outcomes similar to those of countries that adopted all or most mitigation efforts and some had statistically better outcomes.
3. The vaxxes worked as expected.
Untrue. Right out of the box, Pfizer admitted over time that their vaxx’s effectiveness waned over a period of weeks. This problem was identified before any new variants became significantly prominent. The first boosters were identical to the original vaccines, and were advised because the vaccines’ effectiveness was not lasting (on an extraordinarily short period of time considering most vaccines don’t require boosters for years), contrary to the statements of the manufacturers, the “experts,” and the common understanding of the public.

This actually facilitated the rise of new variants, as mutations were only needed in the spike protein in order for the virus to evade a current vaccine. When natural immunity is acquired, the body develops antibodies against multiple, sometimes dozens, of antigens (viral proteins, in this situation). In order to overcome natural immunity, mutations must appear in many of a virus’s proteins in order to defeat natural immunity. Mutations in one or just a few are insufficient. This is why “whole virus” vaccines are so effective. They create multiple barriers to infection. The COVID vaxxes did not. Traditional vaccines are like multi-factor authentication, more than a single challenge must be overcome. The COVID vaccines were like a single password (and mutation is like a brute-force attack, when one considers the trillions of viruses that are involved over time in the infection, replicate/mutate, transmission cycle).

I saw through the starting of COVID that many doctors gave on the internet how to take simple things and end COVID. These doctors were blocked from being on the internet. This opened me up to what Fauci and the government was doing. In the 60s we had 60% of the people we have living now yet we had a similar issue but nothing was shut down and no one got upset as the Media and Government did not panic.
All I remember from the ’60s was polio, and that one went smoothly.

You have to start low, get a low level scientist or assistant and threaten multiple federal felonies. Trade that for a name higher up. Go to that person and repeat. Keep doing it until it gets to Fauci.

His pardon meant he could not plead the 5th Amendment, unless as is obvious, his pardon was not valid. He proved he did not believe it was valid by his actions. No further proof needed. Lock him up!

After Trump defeated Crooked Hillary and had a booming economy the Dems conspired with the Chinese to destroy our economy wit Covid so they would have a chance of defeating Trump’s reelection.
Dem leadership met with China’s leadership after ensuring that there would be no CiA or state department representatives present.
China ensured that COVID leaked from their Wuhan lab and then spread to the USA. China let international airlines leave Wuhan Provence while preventing travel from Wuhan Provence to the rest of China. Most likely they ensured that infected chinese students traveled to the USa.
Once Covid traveled to the USA the Dems used it as an excuse to shut down our economy so they could defeat Trump. They even shut down the schools which there is no excuse for as students are the most resistant population. But it helped shutdown the economy..
It worked for Dems and and China be c because Biden was able to lie his way into power.
This hearing is pure grandstanding. Nothing will happen to Fauci. A contempt resolution needs 60 votes and the Democrats will protect him. They could call him before the House, but any contempt resolution enacted there will be withdrawn by the next Congress, after the Democrats take control.
The whole thing is a waste of time. Even if they find him in contempt, nothing will ever be done to him… it’s all for show.. just like the governor of New York put all those Covid sick people in with the nursing homes and killed thousands nothing was done to him
The only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason Dr Faust, I mean Dr Fauci, pleaded the 5th is because he knows his pardon is bogus and not worth the paper it was auto penned on.
Can anyone tell me is it so if federal immunity is granted to a man for, oh say, a murder, can that man be tried in a state court for that same murder because the state has separate sovereignty?
