Poll: Socialism Surging in Popularity Among Democrats

Poll: Socialism Surging in Popularity Among Democrats

“Look at this. Two in three Democrats have a favorable view of socialism. So socialism is on the rise among Democrats.”

As recently as 15 or so years ago, if you accused the Democrats of supporting socialism, they’d accuse you of being a liar who was engaging in scare tactics. But now, the label is embraced like a badge of honor.

Election cycles over the last ten years have confirmed the trend, with virtually every member of the so-called congressional “Squad” admitting to being a Democratic Socialist Party member, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

More recently, Zohran Mamdani was elected as mayor of New York City in 2025, as was Seattle’s Katie Wilson, and it appears that another Democratic socialist, Janeese Lewis George, will be Washington, D.C.’s next mayor after her victory in this past week’s mayoral primary.

So while it’s no surprise that support for Democratic socialism is on the rise in the Democratic Party, fresh polling confirms it irrefutably, according to an analysis of past and present numbers by CNN‘s chief data analyst Harry Enten:

Yes, you know, you mentioned New York. You mentioned Vermont. Obviously, there’s the D.C. mayor. We’ve seen it in Pennsylvania as well. The Democratic socialists seem to be doing considerably better than they used to be. And they have the chance to knock off, in fact, Democratic incumbents in Congress.

And part of the reason for that, why we’re seeing these Democratic socialists having such good chances or downright, outright winning nominations, is take a look here. Net favorability among Dems. Democratic socialists of America.

Look at that. A plus 17 point net favorability rate among Democrats. That is actually better. That is better than how congressional Democrats are viewed by Democrats [at just plus] four points. So no wonder that Democratic socialists have such a good chance, because simply put, they are a better brand at this point than Democrats in Congress.

It stands to reason that with a rise in the popularity of socialism among Democrats also comes a significant drop in their support for capitalism from 2010 til now:

The favorable rating among Democrats on socialism and capitalism. Look at this. In 2010, they were about equal.

50 percent had a favorable view of socialism. 51 percent said the same about capitalism. But capitalism has absolutely fallen through the floor.

Look at this. It’s now just 42 percent of Democrats who have a favorable view of capitalism. Socialism, on the other hand, up like a rocket.

Look at this. Two in three Democrats have a favorable view of socialism. So socialism is on the rise among Democrats. Capitalism is on the decline among Democrats.

Watch:

Enten also noted that the Kalshi prediction market is predicting two more Democratic socialists to make it past the primary in New York City on Tuesday:

The second race he referred to, however, has seen a dramatic 10-point shift away from the Democratic socialist challenger to the incumbent:

Graham Platner, who embraced socialism at sites like Reddit and who has been endorsed by Democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), is the Democratic Party’s Maine Senate nominee.

Abdul El-Sayed, another Sanders-backed Senate candidate who embraces Democratic socialist ideals, is currently in the top two in the Michigan primary race. DSA member Nithya Raman advanced past the Los Angeles mayoral primary to take on incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass.

Fellow DSA member Melat Kiros is currently giving Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), who has been in Congress for 30 years, a run for her money in the party’s primary for the First Congressional District.

Clearly, they aren’t going away anytime soon.

The pretending is over. Democrats are now the new Communist party with all that entails. Soak the rich (except the democrat leaders and oligarchs).
Indoctrinate the kids. Healthcare for all. Childcare for all. Unions, unions, unions. Give money and stuff to those who won’t work for it in the name of equity. etc.. etc..

I’ve been working hard all of this time as a sucker. It’s time to go live like a Grecian and destroy the next generation’s chance at casual prosperity with my own fulfillment.

Your grandfather’s Democrat Party just came out of the closet. It’s always been that way, just hidden. Which Party had a full supply of communists?

I am curious about how long it will take this socialism-supporting generation to figure out it ain’t gonna work out the way they think.

Perhaps it is time to let the Mamdani’s and Wilson’s run full tilt in the cities they have been “elected” to. Let Commufornica spin out of control, particularly LA. Cease federal funding to cover their blatant and repeated mistakes. If they like crime, let them feast on it. If they like illegals, send them all there (remember Martha’s Vineyard?)

Just be prepared for the mop up, and keep in mind the reactions of the foreign soccer fans that have been experiencing America and what it’s loss will mean to the world.

You don’t have to lie, cheat and steal to convince people your ideas are good if they are actually good, and you don’t have to hide the gruesome history of socialism/communism if it were a functioning system.

Buy popcorn; it’s going to be a wild ride.

For this to work, the GOP needs to stop funding them. Congress needs to eliminate the SALT deduction, and Trump needs to stop playing Daddy Warbucks and stop funding them. He immediately sent the EPA to clean up the fire damage in LA but it wasn’t federal land or jurisdiction. Why are we the taxpayers – who are already owed $1billion borrowed by CA- paying the consequences of their ineptitidude? They will enlist and elect socialists because we’re fronting them.

Trump 1.0 got the SALT deduction down to $10K. Unfortunately in Trump 2.0 a strong coalition of members HoR and Senators primarily from NY, CA led by NY Congressman Lawler (R) was able to leverage votes for Big Beautiful Bill to push the cap up to $40K.

How are they any different than their failed predecessors when it comes to improving human quality of life versus suffering, and will they turn their backs on the benefits of capitalism they have accrued themselves?

Bernie got thrown out of a commune for being too lazy, so he covertly embraced the free market and became even lazier: a politician.

He does nothing yet profits from it. Typical commie.

All of these DSA candidates are winning in very “Blue” areas. The elections are probably like the LA primary elections. The question is can they cheat enough to win the General Election? I am not unsure that they can’t.

The thing is they want a civil war against the rest of us. And I believe if they get their wish they will call upon the U.N. to send in troops to protect the Socialist since that is the political direction of most of the U.N. We definitely live in interesting times.

50 years of Culture Marxist Seminaries will do that to a country

The “Gimme dat!” crowd is on the loose, proving once and for all that liberalism is a mental disorder and Democrats in general are the party of the low IQ.

Oh just say it: they are the party of mental illness, perversion, corruption, cheating, lying, lawfare, projection and deception. Alinsky must be proud. Soros and Singham are.

After embracing a Nazi in Maine (he’s a “good” Nazi, because he is their Nazi), and blatant commies and terrorists elsewhere, they are the party of absolute power
mongering and zero ethics, morality or history. They OWN the systemic racism in this country!

Try to think of ONE positive thing they have done for America since 2016. I’d go back much further, but there are only so many electrons in the universe.

You forgot the word degenerate. One look at the photo of Hunter Biden stoned with a cigarette in his mouth, the man in a dress on the White House lawn shaking his naked balloon chest, the male military officers in skirts or “Admiral Levine” as the first ‘woman’ to run HHS…..

Socialism, much less communism, isn’t the answer. The larger issue I see is a refusal to acknowledge that those two ‘answers’ aren’t coming out of nowhere, they are bad solutions to real problems within our Nation.

If we refuse to acknowledge that younger generations face structural hurdles that older generations didn’t, if we pretend that if they ‘work harder’ or offer up more warmed over boomer bootstraps homilies that are rooted in a bygone era or otherwise ignore the very real issues younger generations face they are gonna be drawn to the folks who will at least acknowledge their issues ….IOW by listening and offering up (bad) solutions the DSA types are gaining support b/c our side often seems unwilling to even acknowledge the very real differences in the scope and scale of problems facing younger generations.

The rise in age of 1st Marriage above 30 and rise in age of 1st home purchase above 40 reveals that structural problems exist for younger generations. If we keep downplaying this and telling younger generations to ‘suck it up’ they are gonna gravitate to the political party that at least takes their problems seriously.

No. I know a lot of young people, some just finishing college and some not going to college at all, and they are successful *because* they expect success must be earned, rather than handed to them. The U.S. economy offers enormous opportunity, but those with a sense of entitlement have a hard time pursuing this. As for the DSA, they want two things — power and purges — and use envy to motivate their useful idiots.

‘Handed v earned’ is perhaps too strong for the majority of young people, though certainly accurate for a large minority of whiny ‘gimme’ sorts unwilling to work.

What I am talking about is the lack of responsiveness to real issues. When the folks who do ‘the right thing and work hard/play by the rules/live up to societal expectations’ can’t afford a basic middle-class lifestyle by age 30 in the same way their Parents did and older generations lecture them about ‘bootstraps’ it isn’t winning any converts to ‘our side’.

Health care/IN has become a have/have not. Those with solid IN almost all receive it from their employer. Largely due to outdated tax treatment of benefits. Obama care wrecked the private IN system. Costs are insane and growing. The very poor have Medicare but the lower rung middle class gets hosed, especially small business. The difference in % of household budget for Health IN today v two decades ago is stark. Same for housing costs. Rent today v two decades ago is astronomically higher. Most can’t buy a home b/c prices are through the roof.

My folks got married in ’66. Dad was a Police Detective and Mom an X-Ray Tech. Their combined income was just under $800 a month. Their mortgage payment was $92 for a 2Bed/1 +1/2 Ba. That’s less than 12% of income spent on housing. It isn’t possible today. If we offered up some workable policy fixes for housing and Health IN we would beat back much of the appeal of the DSA siren song of Socialism.

Socialism has become a zombie political movement. Despite its repeated and obvious failures throughout history and around the world, it keeps coming back: undead economics. As long as teachers will not teach history honestly, and dishonest politicians continue to propose it as. a panacea for all problems, it will keep dragging its rotting limbs through world politics, destroying prosperity wherever it goes.

But there it is. Decades of deliberately dumbing down education has produced easily gulled voters. Add uncontrolled immigration of third-worlders to this. The strategy was to dilute people who understood the American Way down to homeopathic levels.

I watch a particular streaming service (Tubi) that runs the most intellectually embarrassing ads for phone-based slot machine games, a dozen times every hour.. Cheap, 360p AI cartoon ads for “our competitors’ games don’t pay out, so delete them from your phone NOW! Now, play OURS to make money fast every day!” It’s the sort of ads I’d expect to see running somewhere like a bar in sub-Saharan Africa. I’m ashamed scams like this are demonstrably profitable in the USA.

Democrats—bottom feeders ALL!—are rushing toward a party-wide policy of “the most vicious and mendacious among us.” As part of the propaganda effort disguising this change, leftist mouthpieces of the DNC/MSM, are now yapping about being a big tent party, all while the leftists gleefully seek to primary (that is, purge) any Democrat who deviates even a scintilla from the Party line.
