U.S. Strikes Iranian Missile Sites, Mine-Laying Boats Near Strait of Hormuz
Secretary Rubio: Hormuz strait will reopen “one way or the other.”
The U.S. Military conducted fresh strikes on southern Iran, targeting missile launch sites and naval boats attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
While the ceasefire remains in place, the strikes were carried out in self-defense to “protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” Central Command said in a statement on Monday evening.
Iranian sources confirmed multiple strikes in the south of the country. “Explosions were heard in Iran’s Bandar Abbas city and coastal areas near the Strait of Hormuz,” Reuters reported Tuesday morning, citing Iranian regime media. “The Tasnim news agency said three explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, while the Fars news agency said similar sounds were heard close to Sirik and Jask near the strategic waterway,” the news agency added.
The strikes come as the U.S. and Iran are inching towards an agreement. President Donald Trump on Monday said that a deal with Iran “will either be a great or meaningful one, or there will be no deal.”
Central Command confirmed strikes on hostile Iranian targets, NBC News reports:
The U.S. military struck targets in Iran near the Strait of Hormuz in what a spokesman for the military said Monday were acts of self-defense.
Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said the attacks were “self-defense strikes” and included “missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines.”
The strikes were in Bandar Abbas, in southern Iran, near the Strait of Hormuz, a defense official said. (…)
“U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” Hawkins said.
Following the U.S. strike, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that an agreement with Iran was still on the table and could “take a few days.”
He dismissed the Iranian proposal to set up a “tolling system” in the Strait of Hormuz to extort money from ships and tankers passing through one of the world’s busiest waterways. He told reporters Tuesday morning that the “straits have to be open, they’re going to be open one way or the other.”
According to Secretary Rubio, the Trump administration was prepared to walk away from the negotiations if Iran did not agree to the key demands, adding that “it’s either going to be a good deal or there isn’t going to be one.”

I’m quite certain that there’s no expectation on the part of Trump et al that the Iranians will act honorably and truthfully, both being anathema to their 7th century debased minds. Only force, violently applied, will get them to capitulate. And I have no issue with our military applying that force. Iran is a dangerous terrorist state that cannot be allowed to continue, regardless of what the idiotic left says.
I agree with Van Hollan. This war has been a big blunder from the start, 50 years ago. President Trump is trying to turn that around despite our enemies, Iran, NATO, and democrats fighting his every move.
Democrats think kicking the can down the road was the best way to go. In their hearts, I think they know better but….Trump.
They really couldn’t care less about our country. Their main goal is to stop any success Trump may achieve.
They’re unpatriotic fools.
We are fighting this like Vietnam sans the troops in harm’s way. It’s no way to win and end a war. You don’t have to fight fair…just do what needs to be done and let the world hem and haw and move on benefiting from the outcome while grandstanding on their hot takes about what should have been done.
It is well that war is so terrible. Otherwise, we should grow too fond of it.

You keep using that word, ceasefire. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Maybe they should have called it “a temporary reduction in the rate of fire” or something like that.
Personally, I think the temporary reduction in the rate of fire was a bad idea from the jump…but I have to wonder if it was because we were (are?) running low on ‘splodey stuff and couldn’t keep it up even if we wanted to.
At any rate, the mad mullahs think they’ve got the upper hand, and as long as that’s true, they’re never going to give in. Oh…and even if they do agree to something, they’ll immediately start finding ways to get around, avoid or outright violate any agreement they made.
That’s just what they do.
We started the job, now we need to finish it.
Unfortunately, that’s just something we haven’t had the political will to do since about 1945 or so.
I am only following the terminology used by the administration, particularly the State Department. If they call it a ceasefire, then so be it it.
I get that. I phrased it that way trying to be funny (princess bride reference).
I don’t have a problem with your reporting, only with the administration saying “the ceasefire is still in effect” while actively firing…which is the exact opposite of “ceasing to fire”.
I guess that’s the only kind of ceasefire you can have with these fanatics. Reason and polite diplomacy don’t work with them.
I don’t thing they will ever agree to the terms we want. They are driven by ideology that says they are to wipe out anyone who doesn’t agree with that ideology. I believe the leftist Americans are what give them hope. They think they can wait us out. I also believe that Trump continues to negotiate because of the many who continue to call for an immediate withdrawal or accuse him of war crimes. I’d rather he put an end to it and do what he can to help the Iranian people to take their country back. They want us there, they want their exiled Royals to be their leader. I’m hoping he’s working with them, also. There is a fracture in Iranian leadership.. one side says yes, another says maybe and another says no. Hopefully, soon, he will feel he’s negotiated all that he can and enough is enough. Destroy the IRGC and help the people decide how they want to rule. Their voices should be part of the negotiations.
With zealotry involved, this is the closest thing we get to a ceasefire.
Very off topic: Scooterjay, I’m still puzzled by the problem you set on a previous thread, which appeared to reference the diameter of Solomon’s pool. Whatever you meant by it, it went right over my head, and it’s niggling at me. Could you please explain it to me?
meanwhile here at home
blmplo street thuggs are attacking and the pd is told to be social workers
how about opening some water hoses on those filthy punks
if we arent going to “nuke” iran out of existence ,,then why all the wordy gamesmanship??
we are accepting of their evilness the same way we accept the evilness of the left in the usa…there is no difference
I can’t explain Iran’s objectivity insane posturing. But given their absolutely irrational approach considering their military and economic position, it would seem that the decision to initiate this conflict to prevent these lunatics from ever developing nuclear arms and to restrain their terror outreach was more than justified.
Two reasons for their posturing:
factioned, splintered leadership with loud zealotry on their side
false belief that Trump will just let this pass to the next person in charge
Bombs, bullets, and rockets are the only “negotiations” these terrorists understand.
The mullahs are not to be trusted. Our best path is full removal.
Cool looking fighter. Is that the halloween edition? 🙂
oh btw
the left is making rubio a top “friendly” pr moment so that they may cause more gop /msm led in -fighting between
