Former DOJ Attorney on Jack Smith Mar-a-Lago Team Charged With Stealing Sealed Report

Former DOJ Attorney on Jack Smith Mar-a-Lago Team Charged With Stealing Sealed Report

“As alleged in the indictment, the defendant concealed her actions by saving electronic copies of the government records in question under the misleading files names “chocolate cake recipe” and “bundt cake recipe” before electronically transmitting those records to her personal email accounts.”

This is a trip back on memory lane, to the raid on Mar-a-Lago as part of a case brought by Jack Smith asserting that Trump illegally retained classified records.

The case dominated the headlines both here and elsewhere. We even had our own Tag for our coverage:

I thought this was the most risky of the criminal cases brought against Trump because the others were legally flawed, but this one – if proven – had the potential for conviction, particularly on the claim that Trump tried to conceal documents that were subject to subpoena. “If proven” never happened both because the case was flawed as well as Trump winning the 2024 election which put an end to the prosecution. Later reports suggested the FBI Was Against Mar-a-Lago Raid, Argued With DOJ Prosecutors. The FBI report on the case was put under seal by the Judge who rejected requests to release it to the public.

I had long ago forgotten about the Mar-a-Lago raid and prosecution, until today.

FBI Director Kash Patel made a dramatic announcement on X today:

This afternoon, a former managing assistant U.S. Attorney who supported Jack Smith’s politicized investigation of President Trump has been charged with stealing the confidential investigation documents.

Carmen Lineberger allegedly emailed the confidential material to her own personal email, disguising them as dessert recipes to conceal them from record searches. Lineberger is charged with four felony counts in the indictment. This FBI will not hesitate to bring to account those who violated the trust of the American public in an investigation that should’ve never been brought to begin with.

From the DOJ press release:

Carmen Mercedes Lineberger, 62, of Port St. Lucie, has been indicted in federal court for two counts of theft of government money or property, valued less than $1,000.00; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; and concealment, removal, or mutilation of public records. John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida announced the charges.

The indictment alleges at the time of the offenses the defendant served as the Managing Assistant United States Attorney (MAUSA) of the Fort Pierce branch of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. In separate instances in late-2025, the defendant altered the electronic file names of government records that she received in her official capacity as the MAUSA in order to conceal her unauthorized electronic transmission of those records to personal email accounts belonging to her without being detected.  The altered government records included a document compiled by the defendant consisting of portions of internal DOJ electronic messages and an internal DOJ memorandum, and a DOJ report related to a criminal prosecution in the SDFL that had been court-ordered to remain under seal and prohibited from distribution or disclosure outside of DOJ.

As alleged in the indictment, the defendant concealed her actions by saving electronic copies of the government records in question under the misleading files names “chocolate cake recipe” and “bundt cake recipe” before electronically transmitting those records to her personal email accounts.  As to the DOJ report, the indictment further alleges the defendant acted knowing that her transmission of the record outside DOJ directly violated the court order and impaired the proper administration of the underlying criminal prosecution.

Lineberger appeared in federal court today for her arraignment before Southern District of Florida Chief United States Magistrate Judge William Matthewman in West Palm Beach, Florida.

If convicted, Lineberger faces up to twenty years’ imprisonment for destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations, three years’ imprisonment for concealment, removal, or mutilation of public records, and up to one year imprisonment on each count of theft of government property valued at less than $1,000.

The Indictment sets forth the details of the downloading and transmittal.

Angry black female. Roast her ass until she sings. She is a prime example of where this country went wrong and probably a hero to the democrats.

Carmen Lineberger is as sharp as a block of limburger cheese.

Nice to sese someone charged for this sort of thing, finally. Well, someone who is not a lowly toady.

I hope she is found guilty and the book thrown at her.

Should have labeled it “Hunter’s Laptop.”

The Jack Smith report is a huge stack of outright lies and imaginary crimes, untainted by any kind of truth. The Dems *have* to get it out. They’ve used all of the flavor from the overchewed gum they’ve been using against Trump for the last ten years, and they need new lies to paste across the media. If Lineberger had managed to sneak out the report and get it to the press without being found out, she would have a gold-plated job with some nonprofit for decades.

I had nearly forgotten about this utterly and brazenly lawless, third-world dictatorship stunt — a raid on a former president’s home — cooked up by corrupt Joe Biden’s corrupt DOJ, with an assist from a partisan, Trump-hating Dhimmi-crat apparatchik at the National Archives — all for the express purpose of slandering President Trump and contriving another phony “controversy,” to damage his reputation and his future electoral prospects.

One more reason to hate the vile, stupid and evil communist/Islamofascist Dhimmi-crats.

Someone was watching and waiting for this to happen. I’d like to point out that nothing is leaking from the Grand Jury investigation. Puts a smile on my face knowing that the indictments will be served with no notice.

So lawyer prosecuting a president for personal conversion of classified information… personally converts classified information.

“That’s Ⓓifferent!!”

She wasn’t stealing documents to hang on the wall like a trophy, my guess to pass them on to their Propaganda Ministry

She also needs to be held in contempt for violating the court order, and disbarred.

The MAL raid should be brought up every time some feckless Dem socialist claims that PRESIDENT Trump is persecuting his political opponents.

It certainly tops the list of their other lawfare fabrications.

“Carmen Mercedes Lineberger, 62, of Port St. Lucie, has been indicted in federal court for two counts of theft of government money or property, valued less than $1,000.00….”

Valued less than $1000.00 by whom? It’s hard to imagine the figure being anywhere near that low to the dems. Why else steal them?

I’d hope for maximum sentence but probably will be far less. ‘Oh this a Woman’ ‘Oh she’s 62′ Oh, she’s a 1st time offender’ If she has a family then it’s ‘Oh, she’s a Mother and Grandmother’….and ‘we can’t lock her up for 30 years b/c we shouldn’t send a 62 year old grandmother 1st time offender to die in prison’. That’s the just lefty corporate media spin, her Attorneys will be more inventive.

Fair enough….. though she was found guilty, given a pretty tough sentence….which a lefty Gov commuted using the same basic thrust of arguments I described.

Maybe that commutation was justified. Maybe not. What is IMO NEVER justified is a bunch of sob story crap about ‘oh this person is 60 or 70 and if we sentence them to 15 years they gonna die in prison’. That’s tough cookies, age isn’t IMO justification for leniency, at least not for adults and certainly not for supposedly mature elders in positions of trust and responsibility.

This proves once again how blind progressives are to hypocricy. She was doing what the bogus case against Trump was all about! This is on the same level of logic as screwing for virginity!

This proves once again that all federal employees must be replaced every time a new administration takes over.

No holdovers, no “career” civil service, no permanent positions. Every one needs to reapply for their jobs.

When I was in short pants, I was taught that creation of the Civil Service was a landmark in Good Government. Boy, did I get sold a raft of narrative poop.

AI: “The spoils system, popularized by President Andrew Jackson, is a practice where a political party rewards its supporters with government jobs after winning an election. Jackson believed this system would reform government by removing entrenched officeholders, but it often led to appointments based on loyalty rather than qualifications.”

Hey, so we ended “appointments based on loyalty rather than qualifications?” Not so’s I can see! We just dragged out the implementation of those appointments, and then gave them ungodly tenure.

Democrats, who love to grow government, get to appoint lots of new civil service employees who then hang around like kudzu, Republicans may or may not cut departments, but either way that doesn’t make new slots to cultivate their own kudzu employees.

Civil Service created the Deep State street army, same as the institution of the Intelligence Community created that army’s “intelligentsia.”

So why was she stealing them? It wasn’t to just have a souvenir. The documents were going somewhere after her. Who’s the next link in the chain and when will we see them indicted?
