California Mayor Eileen Wang Pleads Guilty to Being Chinese Agent
“By her own admission, Eileen Wang secretly served the interests of the Chinese government.”
Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang has resigned and pleaded guilty to acting as an illegal foreign agent for China.
The felony count requires a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
“By her own admission, Eileen Wang secretly served the interests of the Chinese government,” said Assistant Director Roman Rozhavsky of the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division. “Let this serve as a clear warning: Individuals who act on behalf of foreign governments to influence our democracy will be identified, investigated, and brought to justice. Protecting the rule of law and the transparency of our democratic process remains at the core of the FBI’s mission, and we will continue working alongside our partners to safeguard the integrity of our elections and keep hostile actors from undermining the voices of the American people.”
The DOJ explained the plea agreement:
According to her plea agreement, from late 2020 through 2022, Wang and Yaoning “Mike” Sun, 65, of Chino Hills, worked at the direction and control of PRC government officials and coordinated with U.S.-based individuals to promote the PRC’s interests by, among other things, promoting pro-PRC propaganda in the United States. Sun is serving a four-year federal prison sentence after he pleaded guilty in October 2025 to acting as an illegal agent of a foreign government.
Wang and Sun worked together to operate U.S. News Center, a website that purported to be a news source for the local Chinese American community. Wang and Sun received and executed directives from PRC government officials to post pro-PRC content on the website.
For example, in June 2021, a PRC official contacted Wang and other individuals via the WeChat encrypted messaging application with pre-written news articles, including a PRC official-written essay in the Los Angeles Times that stated: “China’s Stance on the Xinjiang Issue – There is no genocide in Xinjiang; there is no such thing as ‘forced labor’ in any production activity, including cotton production. Spreading such rumor to do defame China, destroy Xinjiang’s safety and stability, weaken local economy, suppress China’s development[.]”
Minutes later, Wang posted the article on her own website and responded to the PRC official with a link to the article on her website. The others in the group chat did the same. The PRC official responded: “So fast, thank you everyone.”
The DOJ also claimed that in June 2021, a Chinese official contacted Wang and others with pre-written articles. The official included an essay written by another official from the Los Angeles Times, which said, “China’s Stance on the Xinjiang Issue – There is no genocide in Xinjiang; there is no such thing as ‘forced labor’ in any production activity, including cotton production. Spreading such rumor to do defame China, destroy Xinjiang’s safety and stability, weaken local economy, suppress China’s development[.]”
Wang published the article on her personal website.
Videos and satellite images have shown concentration camps for Uyghur Muslims in the Xinjiang province. The BBC reported in 2022:
Human rights groups believe China has detained more than one million Uyghurs against their will over the past few years in a large network of what the state calls “re-education camps”, and sentenced hundreds of thousands to prison terms.
A series of police files obtained by the BBC in 2022 has revealed details of China’s use of these camps and described the routine use of armed officers and the existence of a shoot-to-kill policy for those trying to escape.
Wang became an Arcadia City Council member in 2022. The city selects its mayors on a rotating basis.
Before city council, “Wang served on the Parent Teacher Association for Camino Grove Elementary School and was president of the American Southwest Chamber of Commerce USA.”
“Individuals in our country who covertly do the bidding of foreign governments undermine our democracy,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli. “This plea agreement is the latest success in our determination to defend the homeland against China’s efforts to corrupt our institutions.”

As someone with family ties to three ethnicities formerly or currently linked to subversive activity (Ashkenazi Jews, Scandinavians, and Han Chinese), I believe that while the government ought to throw the book at Eileen Wang, and that everyone working in the government needs to be vetted.
But today’s Far Eastern immigrants (including Han Chinese) re probably a lot less subversive of US institutions and constitutionalism than the Ashkenazi Jews, ethnic Finns, and West Indian immigrants of a century or so ago–the three groups on who formed the backbone of American Communism. Just look at people like Xi Van Fleet and Jie Yu (both China-born) and Undersecretary Cao Hung (Viet-born). There are a dozen such people for every Eileen Wang. I don’t know about “Viet town”, but there is a very active anti-Communist Chinese-language media in the USA. I am by no means trying to say “more American than thou”, but I believe you very unfairly attack many who are foreign-born (at least of the wrong ethnicity), or born of immigrant parents.
Naturalized Americans have a long record of service as both e;ected officials (ever since Albert Gallatin, born in Geneva, served Pennsylvania first as a Representative and later as a Senator, and also served as Secretary of the Treasury). The Constitution itself holds that a Representative need only be a citizen for seven years and at least 25 years of age; while a Senator should be at least 30 years of age and a citizen for nine years.
In my own short and inglorious consular career, while serving in Guangzhou, I called DC’s attention to a California company that was probably bringing in United Front and other agents under cover of H-visas. I also called INS’ attention (this was before 2002) to a young woman in NY (my own wife’s landsmann or 同乡）who was using fiance petitions to help a people-smuggling gang import muscle–and, since my Teutonic-sounding real last name and native accent led the petitioner to believe I could be fooled by a cock-and-bull story about why she would marry the cousin of an ex who was doing life for the very brutal murders of smuggled people who didn’t pay-up fast enough, I was able to use my own knowledge of folkways and subcultures to catch her lies. I have also seen more thoroughly Chinese-connected officers in the Consular Service and immigration services who were as vigilant on this sort of thing. I have also seen people of more unsullied northern European stock who have been as big or bigger traitors than Eileen Wang.
We don’t think Rudy Giuliani is a mafioso because he is of Italian heritage and had uncles in that outfit (indeed, what happened to them may have been a reason why he was vigorous in prosecuting mob figures as an DA). We don’t think all Jews are spies just because of Jonathan Pollard or the Rosenbergs back in the 1950’s.
Further, green card holders can go no higher in the US government than some very low positions–perhaps the most prestigious being language teachers for Departments of War or State.
By all means vett anyone applying for a government position. Vigorously prosecute any and all spies, whether foreign- or native-born. But, maybe Mr. Millhouse and others have a valid point when they protest against the wholsesale accusation of disloyalty directed at certain groups.

My uncle-in-law’s tenth cousin seven times removed may have been involved in the murder, cannibalizing, and disappearance of a PRC health worker in his village in the ancestral land. The victim was a little too zealous about the one-child policy, and would not allow reporting “abnormal rates of multiple births and uneven development of the fetuses in XX village, YY Province” and demanded abortion of the second child. The victim also didn’t consider that the village in question was one in which everyone was related. If I’m related to people who respond to a cruel policy with whatever they have, am I an undesirable American?
I don’t care. There are plenty examples of Chinese in this country working against this country. The latest are the Chinese scientists at the U of M caught smuggling pathogens into this country. Then there is all the loss of corporate and government intelligence smuggled to China by Chinese natives. There are multiple attempts to buy land near US military bases. The list goes on and on. Coupled with the aggressiveness of the Chinese for acquisition or control of territory and opposition of anything we attempt they are not our friends. This is especially the case under poohbear.
Any native Chinese in the country with relatives back in China are ripe for exploitation by the CCP since their families are essentially hostages. There are huge numbers of Chinese in this country but nowhere the reciprocal number of Americans in China.
Until such time as China grows up we should limit their ability to steal from and influence this country.
BTW: I oppose immigration of muslims to this country because their believes are incompatible with Western culture. They have demonstration how violently disruptive their population is wherever they have gone. they will never assimulate.
I also oppose illegal immigration. Send every illegal back to their native country and ban them from ever entering the US in any capacity.
