The East Village neighborhood of New York City is suing the administration of Zohran Mamdani over plans to relocate a men’s homeless shelter there, even though 70 percent of residents voted for him.
Haven’t these people heard about the warmth of collectivism? Isn’t this what they voted for?

East Villagers sue Mamdani to stop relocation of notorious Bellevue men’s homeless shelter into their neighborhood
Enraged East Villagers sued Mayor Zohran Mamdani in a last-gasp effort to stop the relocation of hundreds of homeless men to a new shelter in their neighborhood.
The lawsuit filed Monday seeks an emergency restraining order that would prevent the “rushed” May 1 opening of the intake shelter along Third Street.
The site was selected by City Hall as one of two intake shelters in Manhattan that would effectively replace the notorious Bellevue homeless shelter — a haven for often-dangerous vagrants that Mamdani plans to close by the end of the month.
But Mamdani and city officials not only underhandedly declared an “emergency” to close the Midtown shelter, their decision to plunk its clientele into the East Village was dangerously slapdash, the lawsuit contends.
“This case is not about the City’s decision to close the Bellevue Intake Shelter,” the Manhattan Supreme Court filing states.
“It challenges only the City’s hastily made and legally invalid decision to [locate] a new citywide homeless adult male intake center at 8 East 3rd Street without following any of the legal requirements that must precede such a significant and consequential decision.”
As of yesterday, a judge came to the rescue of the outraged residents.

Judge puts plans for East Village shelter on hold
A plan by the Mamdani administration to relocate a major homeless intake facility to the East Village is now on hold after a judge issued a temporary restraining order.
The city had announced in March it would close the deteriorating Bellevue shelter at East 30th Street and First Avenue and move intake operations to a building at 8 East Third St. — a site that previously operated as a mental health shelter.
The community was outraged.
“We kinda found out last-minute and we scrambled to organize and all we really want is to be assured that this is the safest thing for all of those involved,” said Caleb Berger, an East Village resident.
A group of residents and business owners in the East Village filed a lawsuit Monday to stop the opening, which was set for May 1. A state judge issued a temporary restraining order Wednesday, putting the plan on hold.

What did they expect? Mamdani already said he was going to overrule the chief of police for anything that he disagreed with. He also said he was the final statement on any departments decision. He hasn’t been called out on those moves. And these yahoos think the whole world revolves around them and their decisions.
They are in love with an “idea”, the latest fad, the shiniest babble. I hope the shelter is approved to show them that they asked for it and got it and to live up to their ideals that they dump on others. Obama wanted to homogenize communities. Not fair that some have a view of the ocean from Malibu nor from the tops of NYC condos overlooking Central Park. I had a number of relatives from NYC, and got to know a number of their friends. I’m sure most Mamdani voters voted for him because voting in a Muslim with Communist leanings seemed to be the liberal and “open-minded” thing to do. All I can say to that is that those folks seem to be so “open-minded” that their brains fell right out of their heads and went “SPLAT!” on the floor.
