Senate Confirms Sen. Markwayne Mullin as DHS Secretary

The Senate confirmed Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) as Department of Homeland Security secretary.

The final vote was 54-45.

Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) were the only Democrats to vote yes.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was the only Republican to vote no.

Sen. Reuben Gallego (D-AZ) did not vote.

President Donald Trump appointed Mullin to the top DHS post on March 5, after he ousted Kristi Noem following a few dismal weeks.

According to reports, Trump started to lose confidence in Noem after the chaos in Minneapolis with ICE and the border patrol.

I mean, Trump sent in Border Czar Tom Homan, and he achieved peace in about two weeks!

But it appears the final straw came during a Senate hearing, when Noem told Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) that he had approved a contract connected to those in her inner circle.
