Freedom for Iran: What a Difference a President Makes

Freedom for Iran: What a Difference a President Makes

Communism and radical Islam are the twin forces that constitute the greatest threat to Western civilization, both externally and internally.

The joint U.S. and Israeli strike that led to the decapitation of Iran’s tyrannical, anti-Western, terrorism-sponsoring regime was nothing short of extraordinary. President Trump declared:

Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people.

Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world. For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder targeting the United States, our troops and the innocent people in many, many countries. Among the regime’s very first acts was to back a violent takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of American hostages for 444 days….

From Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq, the regime has armed, trained and funded terrorist militias that have soaked the earth with blood and guts, and it was Iran’s proxy, Hamas, that launched the monstrous October 7 attacks on Israel, slaughtering more than 1,000 innocent people, including 46 Americans, while taking 12 of our citizens hostage. It was brutal, something like the world has never seen before.

Iran is the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terror and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested. It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular, my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon.

Despite the hysteria of leftist critics at home and abroad, there is no question that the strike was fully compatible with American interests and executed at the most opportune moment, when the regime was at its weakest. Waiting for it to grow stronger again defies common sense and the principles of successful military strategy.

Last but not least, it was morally justified not only as a self-defense strategy for America and its allies but also for the people of Iran, who have been brutally oppressed and slaughtered by their regime for decades. Trump remarked:

Finally, to the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be, probably, your only chance for generations. For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want. So let’s see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force. Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach.

Some 15 years ago, I attended a civics class at a local high school on the eve of passing the U.S. citizenship test. I was sitting next to an elderly woman with kind features that betrayed some existential sorrow. She was an Iranian refugee who barely knew English, but when the lecturer asked her why she had come to America and wanted to become a citizen, she answered decisively: “Freedom.”

Growing up in Eastern Europe under communism, I remember the undying hope passed across generations that one day the Americans would come to the rescue. A character in the book Wolf Hunt, published in Bulgaria in 1986, uttered a prophecy that captured the dreams of millions behind the Iron Curtain, a prophecy that the Americans will come [Wolf Hunt, p. 118]:

If they don’t come in our time, then they’ll come in our children’s or our grandchildren’s time. This world wasn’t created yesterday; it has its way of doing things. What was again will be.

These words are especially relevant today for the people of Iran. Eastern Europe waited 45 years to be liberated from communism; Iran waited 47 years to be liberated from its Islamic theocratic tyranny. During the rallies in 1989 and 1990, we chanted a popular song: “45 years are enough. Time is on our side.”

Now we can say that 47 years of state-sponsored anti-American and anti-Israeli terrorism, as well as murderous domestic oppression, are enough. Communism and radical Islam are the twin forces that constitute the greatest threat to Western civilization, both externally and internally. We are incredibly fortunate to finally have a remarkably brave leadership that is intent on destroying this threat. Hopefully, the people of Cuba will also taste freedom soon.

#47 will go down in history as rivaling the Gipper in robust and courageous foreign policy achievements and moral clarity.

We are witnessing morally upright and Churchillian leadership, displayed by the U.S., under #47, and Israel, under PM Netanyahu.

Meanwhile, the emasculated, cowed, feckless, gullible and stupid leftists/Labour/Dhimmi-crats of Australia, Canada and Europe, and, the U.S. under Carter, Clinton, Obama and Biden, have been contemptibly and gullibly obsequiously appeasing, deferring to, kowtowing to, playing footsie with, whitewashing, funding and otherwise enabling the Iranian Islamofascist regime and facilitating its innumerable terrorist attacks, machinations, nuclear weapons development and belligerent rhetoric, since 1979.

The Iranian people aren’t free yet. I hope that’s coming for them but I’ve also seen too many chickens counted before they were hatched to be absolutely sure of anything. I pray for them.

    I also pray for them
I also pray that this isn’t Afghan 2.0
where we dump a decade of blood
and treasure just to leave a billion dollars worth of gear for the bad guys.

Freedom for Iran.
Whatever that means.
I see what happened in Syria and now Julani is ” President ”
Big win there…
So, what we going to have in Iran?

You are wrong Nora. The greatest threat to the west and isn’t communism and Islam. The greatest threat to the West is the metal health illness of Leftism.

As demonstrated by moonmoth every single day, Leftism leaves its.sufferers unable to distinguish between right and wrong and a need to support everything that is counter to the beliefs of freedom for no other reason than a hatred of a superior society and culture to those found in Communism and Islam.

These people will happily support pedophilia and slavery and your death for no other reason than a hatred of you and your freedoms.

Yes, and activities like bombing Iran only increase the likelihood of them regaining power. Many of us voted for Trump solely because he was the “peace President.” Against Iraq, against endless support for a corrupt dictator in Ukraine. Yet here we are engaged yet again in the ME.

He lied to us and will be held accountable in the next election cycle.

There are several candidates for “greatest threat to the West.” My vote for the greatest threat would be for globalism and all the globalists who want nothing more than to flood the West with third world hordes bent on changing our societies into replicas of the sh!tholes they are supposedly fleeing, all the while these same globalists are quite happy to live safely ensconced in bunkers, isolated from the hell they want us to live in.

These people are more insidious than communists or Islamists, for they pretend to be on our side when in fact they despise us.

Thank You for a great article. The article and comments
give a excellent insight to the current situation that we as a nation are facing today.
Please pray for the fallen United States soldiers and families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in this current war that is being carried out in the Middle East.

Hopefully, this will finally bring a lasting peace to the Middle East.

I think we are much closer to a quiet Middle East than we have ever been under any other President. And for that, Democrats are not happy. Not happy at all!

Democrats hate Trump, like anti-semites hate Jews. They won’t be happy until Trump’s gone.

You think antisemites would be happy with Jews gone, or Trump haters happy after Trump is gone from the scene. Nah, they would be more miserable than ever. Nothing to use as an escape valve for their inherent misery.

Seems premature to celebrate. Other potential outcomes. Iran government waits it out and declares victory. Or civil war like Syria.

I don’t give a rat’s backside about “freedom for Iran” and declaring victory in this moment is incredibly naive and premature. I put up with Trump’s narcissism and inherently stupid and illegal actions like the global tariffs (under emergency powers) because he was the “peace president.” The guy who vowed to keep us out of “endless wars” and “nation building.” Now we are back in the Middle East wasting more life and treasure trying to change the unchangeable and it is maddening. Have we not learned from the Trillions of dollars and countless American lives lost in Iraq?

We DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY for these adventures anymore. We are broke and Trump was supposed to fix it. Instead we have more wasteful spending on useless wars.
