I saw a clip of California Gov. Gavin Newsom floating around with an offensive remark he made while speaking to black voters in Georgia.

Either way, to me, it sounds like Newsom implied that a 940 or a 960 SAT score is normal for black people.

I suggest this for a couple of reason based on the situation as it exists now, subject to change over the next year and a half.
Who else do they have with any national name recognition? Someone may be staying quiet to reduce the amount of time they will be under attack from the Republicans but I can’t think of any governors or Congressmen et al who look likely.
AOC is the candidate for the looney Left [Bernie Sanders voters] while Newsom is the moderate Democrat. I don’t think that the party has any centrists anymore except for Fetterman who obviously has no following.
Another point is when your party is going to lose anyhow you don’t want to waste good candidates. I usually use John McCain as an example here. I suspect that Joe Biden was supposed to be such a pawn, but the cheating succeeded beyond the Democrats wildest expectations.
Unfortunately I’m afraid the Democrat 2028 odds are way too good. Republicans are laying the groundwork for the loss now, e.g. the SAVE act, and they aren’t getting much done to codify Trump’s EOs or backing up DOGE changes with legislation. The global ruling class has taken a few knocks in the last year, but they will do anything to ensure they ultimately win. They already destroyed the global economy, damaged a generation of children and inoculated the whole world with an experimental vaccine just to drive Trump from office in 2020, and they’ve tried to assassinate him. It’s reasonable to assume they will keep trying regardless of collateral damage. And the left stream media still ensures that the only thing Lo-info voters hear is “orange man bad”.
They succeeded in 2020… but don’t forget that they tried again in 2024 and they FAILED. Not only did Trump win, he scored the popular vote as well.
Pessimism is easy and comfotable, and it’s definitely good to be concerned and watchful, but the left isn’t in the dominating position they were years ago. We still have two and a half years, an eternity in politics. The Republicans have a strong bench with Vance, Rubio, and DeSantis as potential presidents or veeps. (My money is on Rubio.) The Democrats have lost control of social media and their media bootlickers barely mater anymore.
But it’s their *candidates* that are absolutely rock bottom. Ocasio-Cortez? A dimwitted flake who won’t make it through the primaries. That leaves Newsom and Harris. Newsom has enough baggage to load down a train. Harris is a charisma vacuum with a doorknob IQ. I suspect some milk toast Democrat governor will jump into the race or some no-name senator who no one cares about. Ironically that is probably the best chance the Democrats have… to not go with one of their current “frontrunners.”
Be prepared for a fight, but don’t give up the ship yet.

I wonder how these people felt when they listened to Newsom? If they still support this person then they are hopeless. Newsom has destroyed the state of California and the next person to replace him will not be able to fix it. Newsom is working to be the Dems Presidential Candidate in 2028.
California was the state me and my wife was born in the late 50s, our sons were born in the 80s, and we still have many family and friends in all parts of the state. We left in 96 due to business moving east. It has gotten much worse since then and that is due to Dem Governors.

It’s a well-known and very common cadence familiar to anyone who’s attended a Baptist church or a church connected with the Baptist tradition.
While there is a black accented version of it, the origin is white; black congregations and clergy also took on the sound.
You can stil hear it in many places that definitely are not black.
Respectfully, given that a lot of people haven’t attended a Baptist church service, my characterization of Obama’s affected accent/cadence as being in the style of a “southern black preacher,” is totally accurate and suffices to accurately and effectively convey and illustrate the verbal style at issue.
For the purposes of analyzing Obama’s contrived verbal affectations, the fact that some white Baptist congregations speak in a similar tone is totally irrelevant.
