Mamdani Eyes Cuts to NYPD as He Stacks His Admin With DEI Bureaucracy
“The Commission on Racial Equity, made up of 16 paid roles, functions as a separate advisory and analytical body, conducting research, developing recommendations and providing oversight related to racial equity policy.”
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is struggling to fund his agenda and is now even considering funding it by defunding the police. It seems Democrats still have not learned their painful lesson on this.
The astounding part is that as he eyes cuts to the NYPD, he is trying to fund a DEI bureaucracy.
FOX News reports:
Mamdani plan pours millions into ‘racial equity’ offices and six-figure diversity jobs, cuts 5,000 NYPD jobs
Even as City Hall describes parts of its spending plan as “actions of last resort,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani is steering millions into an expanding “racial equity” bureaucracy and six-figure diversity positions.
To finance the $127 billion agenda, the plan carries steep trade-offs — higher taxes on wealthy residents and corporations, a potential 9.5% property tax increase if state lawmakers decline to act and a 5,000-officer reduction in the New York City Police Department’s ranks.
Mamdani’s budget is far from inconsequential. In a city of nearly 9 million people that represents the center of global finance, his sweeping progressive agenda isn’t just a local policy shift. It’s a high-stakes experiment that could reshape the nation’s largest economy.
Under Mamdani’s plan, the city’s Office of Racial Equity would receive $5.6 million annually, while the Commission on Racial Equity would be allocated $4.6 million, a combined total of $10.2 million. The new figure represents roughly a $3 million increase — or about a 42% jump — from the approximately $7.2 million allocated last year.
Together, the allocations support a growing racial equity apparatus within City Hall. The Office of Racial Equity, which employs a staff of 38, serves as the administration’s operational arm, coordinating and implementing racial equity policies across agencies.
The Commission on Racial Equity, made up of 16 paid roles, functions as a separate advisory and analytical body, conducting research, developing recommendations and providing oversight related to racial equity policy.

Mamdani's proposed budget is insanity. The top hits:
-$5.6 million for the Office of Racial Equity
-$4.6 million for the Commission on Racial Equity
-$835K for the Commission on Gender EquityAnd to pay for it all he's raising property taxes to 9.5%! pic.twitter.com/yrzRiGwT6i

Mamdani thinks he can make up the difference with civilians. It sounds completely insane.
From CBS News:
CBS News New York’s Marcia Kramer put the question to Mamdani.
“What are you going to do to try to convince people that they want to work in New York City as a police officer?” she asked.
He fell back on his campaign agenda of establishing a Department of Community Safety to relieve police workloads by having civilians respond to things like homelessness and domestic violence cases.
“I’ve said time and again that for too long the city has added additional responsibilities onto the NYPD. We see at this point the NYPD responsible for responding to about 200,000 mental health calls a year,” Mamdani said.

No reason to gasp. People voted for this fink despite all the red flags. Ignorance is no excuse.
Madmani proudly flies his red flag. Can’t you just feel the warmth?
That warmth is the city burning.
I disagree. There needs to be a real and significant push back on this, hopefully forcing Mamdani to back down. If this fails to happen, the Marxists in other offices across the country will be emboldened and will force similar agendas.
I don’t think you really disagree with what isfoss really said.
“No reason to gasp.” That is, with surprise.
Probably won’t back down until most of the cops have left and he can install his brown shirts in to oppress the citizens.
Go Mamdani!
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.

An open comment to New Yorkers.
I believe New York will finally get the government they deserve. I haven’t been to that shit box in years. May it, and its people rot in the city they voted for.
If you don’t like the government your neighbors voted for, get out now while you can.
Somewhat too gracious to the average New Yorker City voter but otherwise I’ll agree.
The “Citizens Patrol” will be issued huge butterfly nets to deal with the mentally imbalanced.
Starting with Mamdummy.
Citizen’s patrol will essentially be Sharia police as they are elsewhere.
Wow! Do NYC voters realize that they voted a bureaucracy on steroids?
wellll duh
commies dont work
you work and they confiscate
Nothing brings an equal society faster than helping the poor steal from the rich. Pretty soon everyone is equally poor.
true..except for the elites who then keep us working for them
oh wait…
Sorry, Zo, we don’t have the money, you get a paperclip and some pocket lint.
Go pick up the piles of trash personally.
Turning New York City into Detroit-East.
Meh, the voters knew they were choosing a socialist and their playbook is open for anyone willing to look;
1. Promise free stuff to get elected
2. Enter office and ‘suddenly discover there’s not enough tax revenue’ to fund their policies
3. Push tax increases, often with veiled threats of shutting down core/essential gov’t services to fund the Cray Cray Socialist policies if they don’t get proposed tax increases
exactly
thats why this is a war and not just a “surprise” as many even on the maga side like to pretend
its nooo surprise
its open warfare with the continued threat of blmplo violence
I mean..kamalala got 70 million votes
Using Interstate 287 doesn’t keep you from passing through New York State entirely but it does keep you out of the city.
You may think I’m being facetious but I’m old enough to recall vividly both the apocalyptic ruins of the South Bronx (Dresden & Tokyo like in appearance) and abandoned automobiles resting on blocks on the Cross Bronx Expressway.
NYC is about to become a war zone with this Islamist/communist clown in charge and you do not want to be anywhere near it.
Yeah, but that only ends up funneling you into communist New England. To stay safe and free requires continuing on 87 up to Troy, and then hobbling sideways on country roads through VT and NH.
Whatever you think you want to go to New England for, have them UPS it to you.
Zero sympathy for NY at all. You people wanted it, voted for it, and you are going to get it. Enjoy!
I agree. I don’t care at all. They were warned. They didn’t listen.
I’m just glad I saw everything I wanted to see in NYC decades ago. Will never return.
Though I would have liked to see the Met and the AMNH again. /sigh
free is going to end up costing a
whole fn lot
Collectivism gets it warmth by burning the place down. Eventually, you run out of firewood.
Happy, happy visions of all the AWFLS ending up as toasty little Joan of Arkhangelsk.
I have been saying that free people who can should leave NYC. Y’all are about out of time, as such a move generally requires converting assets to currency and the value of fixed assets there is going to go down soon.

I have two concerns:
1. That NYC Jews and Christians will be persecuted.
2. That a subsequent Democratic Party federal government will bail out NYC.
Other than that, I’m fine with the demise of NYC. It will be a warning to the rest of the country.
Any future Dem fed victory is Game Over anyway.
If you don’t realize this, you haven’t been watching Virginia.
RE:
#1: why would you think that?
islam is a religion of peace
2: dem or gop they will get our money
the rest of the country ahs moved left
texas is moving more left
the dems/msm/rinos are sounding the alarms that many dont want to hear
Undoubtedly jihadis are gravely underrepresented on the NYPD’s counterterrorism task force. Mamdani undoubtedly wants to address this problem.
And to make sure that any intelligence generated by or shared with the task force is accessible to a properly diverse group of community stakeholders.
I would like to be Mayor of New York City, so in the name of equity and equal outcomes, I am demanding Mayor Mamdani step aside.
The Dallas Stock Exchange gets closer.
IF Equity meant “equality of opportunity” it would make sense – it doesn’t. As a former elementary teacher (grades 4,5,6) and retired university professor – I am painfully aware of the decline in education curriculums at all levels. The homeschooled kids, if given the opportunity, will save our nation – the leader in freedom.
