DHS: Two People Injured in Portland Shooting Tried to Run Over Border Patrol Agents

OK, this just came out across the wires, so information is scarce.
The Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that the driver, an illegal Venezuelan alien connected to the Tren de Aragua, tried to run over a Border Patrol agent, who fired at the car in self-defense.

This is what I have from the Portland government:
Two people are in the hospital following a shooting involving federal agents.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:18 p.m., Portland Police Officers responded to the 10200 block of Southeast Main Street on a report of a shooting. Officers confirmed that federal agents had been involved in a shooting. Portland Police were not involved in the incident.
At 2:24 p.m., officers received information that a man who had been shot was calling and requesting help in the area of Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside. Officers responded and found a male and female with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers applied a tourniquet and summoned emergency medical personnel. The patients were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. Officers have determined the two people were injured in the shooting involving federal agents.
“We are still in the early stages of this incident,” said Portland Police Chief Bob Day. “We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.”

Nope just those, like these two today who were injured and one yesterday who was killed while using deadly weapons, namely vehicles, to assault and/or threaten loss of life/great bodily injury. No one is required to let someone else run them over and when those targeted defend themselves using equally deadly force that is how the cookie crumbles. Easy fix, don’t try or even threaten to run over anyone, better yet comply with lawful commands from LEO and even simpler cease efforts to evade, to.stalk, harass, distract, interfere, impede or obstruct LEO and everyone will go home safely.

Two people shot by the Border Patrol and they are alive? When I was growing up (50s and 60s) and reading my dad’s copy of National Rifleman, the Border Patrol was winning all the LEO pistol competitions. See also “No Second Place Winners” by Bill Jordan.
Jordan testified in a case where a fellow officer was charged with murdering an armed man…. killing him when the man was not pointing the gun. The officer was also a renowned pistolaro. Jordan showed that the officer reacted to the man raising his gun at such a quickness that it looked like he drew and shot first. Jordan was consistently recorded drawing his double-action revolver, firing, and hitting a target in approximately 0.27 to 0.28 seconds. This time included his reaction time to a signal. The officer was cleared.
Jordan consistently could outdraw and shoot before most people even recognized what was going on. This is NOT your average police officer. When A goes to Z before most people know what is going on…. they try to fill in the blanks and that is where things can go bad. One has to be just fast enough to win. Too fast or too slow is a loser.
The difference between Jordan and the “ordinary” officer is training time and tens of thousands of round of ammo, along with some good trainers. Officers are simply not trained/don’t train enough.
