Trump Rages After Cuellar Runs as Democrat Post-Pardon

President Donald Trump erupted on Truth Social in a lengthy two-part post attacking Democrats and expressing disbelief that Rep. Henry Cuellar is still running for Congress as a Democrat even after Trump granted a full and unconditional pardon to both Cuellar and his wife, Imelda. The screenshots provided show two halves of a single continuous post, which Trump used to accuse Democrats of trying to destroy the Cuellar family while scolding Cuellar for returning to the same party Trump says targeted him.

“Can you imagine??? The Democrats, under the Crooked Joe Biden Administration, who always use extreme force and jail time to destroy their political opponent, wanted to put Congressman Henry Cuellar, and his wife, Imelda, in PRISON, for 15 years, which I predicted these Radical Left Lunatics would do. And they never stopped wanting to fulfill this evil quest. The Dems mercilessly went after Henry with everything they had. They were looking to destroy him, his lovely wife, his two young daughters, and anyone close to them.
When the Democrats overwhelmingly lost the 2024 Presidential Election, and power with it, they, regardless, did everything they could to keep going after the Cuellar family. The Dems were vicious, and all because Henry strongly wanted, correctly, BORDER SECURITY. He was against illegals pouring into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. The Congressman did not want gang members, drug dealers, violent prisoners, people from mental institutions and yes, even murderers, in the good ol’ USA.
It was all very unfair what they were doing to him and his family, so much so that his daughters wrote me a beautiful letter about their parents. After reading it I decided, in the interest of justice, and based on the daughter’s loving request, that I would give Henry and Imelda a Full and Complete Pardon. I never spoke to the Congressman, his wife, or his daughters, but felt very good about fighting for a family that was tormented by very sick and deranged people. They were treated sooo BADLY. I signed the papers, and said to people in the Oval Office that I just did a very good, perhaps life saving, thing.
God was very happy with me that day. THEN IT HAPPENED. Only a short time after signing the Pardon, Congressman Henry Cuellar announced that he will be running for Congress again, in the Great State of Texas, as a Democrat, continuing to work with the same Radical Left Scum that just weeks before wanted him and his wife to spend the rest of their lives in Prison. And probably still do. Such a lack of LOYALTY, something that Texas Voters, and Henry’s daughters, will not like. Oh well, next time, no more Mr. Nice guy. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Trump’s post presents a narrative of political retaliation carried out by the Biden-era Justice Department, which indicted Cuellar and his wife in 2024. As Fox News reported:
“The Department of Justice under the Biden administration indicted Cuellar and his wife… for allegedly taking roughly 600,000 dollars in bribes.”
Trump argues in the post that Democrats turned on Cuellar because he criticized the administration’s border policies and warned that Biden’s approach was politically disastrous. Fox News noted that Cuellar told fellow Democrats:
“The American public does not like what is happening.”
According to Trump, the pivotal moment came when he received a heartfelt letter from Cuellar’s daughters urging him to show mercy. Fox News described the daughters’ appeal:
“All we want now is for our family to heal… and to see our parents’ good names restored.”
Trump says the letter convinced him to intervene and issue the pardon. What stunned him, and what he rages about in the posts, is that Cuellar then announced he would run again in Texas as a Democrat, aligning himself once more with the same party Trump says tried to imprison him and ruin his family.
In Trump’s telling, he personally saved Cuellar and his wife from a politically motivated prosecution, only to watch Cuellar immediately return to the Democratic Party. Trump calls it a “lack of loyalty” and warns that Texas voters will not forget it.

Why would you expect different results?
What a bizarre take from Trump. What right does he have to expect LOYALTY from someone who has never ever pledged him loyalty, or been on his side? On the contrary, Cuellar is loyal to the party he has spent his entire life pledging loyalty to, even after it abandoned him.
If Trump expected a quid pro quo for his pardon, that in return for the pardon Cuellar would switch his loyalty, then that would be corrupt! Surely he did not expect such a thing. Cuellar is undoubtedly very grateful to Trump, but can’t be expected to change his principles because of it. That shows character.
He characterizes himself an “old fashioned Democrat”, from when the Democrat Party was at least somewhat sane. He recognizes that the party has moved away from him, but he refuses to move, either with it or in the opposite direction. You have to respect that, even if the principles he’s sticking with seem wrong to us. At least he’s committed to them.
Timing is everything. It’s so up front… so in your face….so soon. Now…. yes the Party has moved on. His only positive now is dissing Trump. He is in limbo as far as i can see.
What was he supposed to do? The filings are due now. He was planning to run whether or not he was pardoned.

Also, the evidence against Cuellar seems very strong. It’s likely that he’s indeed guilty, and the charges were not motivated by his failure to toe the Democrat line.
I don’t think anyone is particularly concerned with guilt and innocence at the moment. Maybe in a few years we can restore some expectation of fair dealing and honesty, but that’s me being optimistic.

No, you can ascribe ti to Trump’s massive, over-inflated ego where he thinks that because he gives someone, in this case two people, a Pardon they’re required to be loyal to him for the rest of their lives. Surprised he hasn’t attempted to revoke the Pardon in retaliation. But there’s still time.

He wasn’t lied to. There was no promise made in return for a pardon. On the contrary, that would be corruption! And once you lose a seat you don’t make a comeback. The new incumbent would expect to keep it. Nor did Trump expect him to retire from politics; he seems to have expected him to switch parties! Which is just stupid.
It’s not like Democrats have ever been accused of being entitled ingrates.

Cuellar screwed up. Cuellar was right that Biden’s puppeteers trashed the country with illegal aliens. A broken clock is right twice a day.
It was odd that Trump would step in on this but he was right. Cuellar was targeted by Biden’s DOJ because he wouldn’t play ball but for Trump to think, what? The Cuella would switch to Republican? That he would just not run again? I think the later and if so Trump should have had that talk before the pardon.
And that would have been outright corruption.
I like Trump but not everything he does. Pardoning a Dem is dumb as no matter what he told Trump – Dems lie and lie always. Trump got a wake up that will help him in the future.
