The FBI arrested four people connected to the Turtle Island Liberation Front for allegedly plotting to bomb numerous parts of Los Angeles, CA, on New Year’s Eve.
The agency arrested a fifth person in New Orleans.
Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X regarding California:
After an intense investigation, the Department of Justice, working with our @FBI, prevented what would have been a massive and horrific terror plot in the Central District of California (Orange County and Los Angeles).The Turtle Island Liberation Front—a far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti-capitalist group—was preparing to conduct a series of bombings against multiple targets in California beginning on New Year’s Eve. The group also planned to target ICE agents and vehicles.This was an incredible effort by our U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the @FBI to ensure Americans can live in peace. We will continue to pursue these terror groups and bring them to justice.

According to the FBI, they were allegedly planning coordinated bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.The agency said the four were arrested in Lucerne Valley, where they were believed to be preparing to test explosive devices ahead of the planned attacks. They have each been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.
Many Indigenous people refer to North America as Turtle Island.
TILF’s main Instagram account has one post that reads, “Peaceful protest will never be enough.”
Another slide says, “Free occupied Turtle Island from the illegal American empire. Free Palestine. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico.”
The Los Angeles chapter’s page is more active. One member tried to connect Palestine to Turtle Island, which, as I said before, refers to North America:
So, as many people are learning, Palestine is the true name of Israel, right? Israel, a creation in 1946 by the Zionists. It’s the same with Turtle Island. That was what the original tribes on the Americas, before it was called America, it was known as Turtle Island because, believe it or not, if you look at the map rather from the top down, but the bottom up, you put that map of the Americas, it looks like a turtle. And so that’s what the natives called it, was Turtle Island. So that’s the decolonized name of the Americas. And, uh, Turtle Liberation Front is looking for reparations and land back for these indigenous groups in which the land was observed.
